The offenses were still hot in the second quarter as the Hornets would take the quarter 13-10, and the Hornets would take the 29-26 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Vikings would come out hot and look to return to the game. The game would start well for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they got off to the 17-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Mustangs would be up to the fight as they would clamp down, have an 18-8 quarter, and take the 31-25 lead into the break. When the teams would return for the second half, the Cardinals would find their offense and put up a 20 on the Mustangs while giving up 15 and trail 46-45 as they head into the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would keep their offense on fire as they put up another 20 points, and their defense would only give up seven as they would get the 65-53 victory. The visiting #3 Blue Devils would waste little time getting the game's opening goal at the 3:45 mark of the first period when Tegan Frederick would light the lamp for the 1-0 lead. The Bobwhites would get on the board first in the second period as they would score three goals in a span of 1:27 to take the 3-0 lead. The Eagles would get on the board with 2:41 left when Edward S would get them on the board and make it a 3-1 game after the second period. The third period would open up with the Bobwhites and regain their three-goal lead at 4-1 just 1:20 into the period. It would be Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball action from Plattsburgh as the home Hornets would meet up with the rival crosstown Peru Nighthawks on a Friday Night. The game would start well for the Hornets as they would start by doubling up the Nighthawks at 16-8 after the first quarter. The teams would be a little more equal in the second quarter, but the Hornets would win the quarter slightly at 9-7 and take the 25-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would be hot, double up the Nighthawks again, this time at 20-10, and take the 45-25 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, with the outcome of the game no longer in doubt, the teams would empty the benches, and the Nighthawks would win the fourth quarter at 10-6, but it would not be enough on this day as the Hornets would get the 51-35 victory. The Beekmantown Eagles will be back in action at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena this Friday evening as they leave the section. The host was the Malone Huskies from Section X. The game would start well for the home Eagles as they would get the game's opening goals, which made it a 1-0 game at the 7:14 mark of the first period. The Huskies would keep fighting and get the tying goal at the 11:40 mark of the period on the goal from Parker Russell. Although with just under two minutes left in the period, the Eagles could regain the lead at 2-1 when Parker Pryce would light a lamp, and that's how they would head into the first intermission. When the teams would return for the second period, the Huskies would waste little time tying the game up again, this time from Tristan Russell at the 3:16 mark. The Cardinals would keep coming and equalize the game at one with the Kevin Weaver Vitale goal at the 17:16 mark of the period. It would be a very physically hard-hitting game from the start as both teams were trying to show they were the dominant team on this day. Both teams would have their chances, but there would be no scoring in the first period. The Eagles would break and get the game's opening goal on the shorthand at the 11:36 mark of the period when Mason Carter would light the lamp and make it a 1-0 game in what would be the period's lone goal. The second period would start well for the road-traveled Spatans as they would tie the game one on Ryan Campbell's goal at 2:59. Then, just under two minutes later, the Spartans would lead the game on the breakaway goal from Gabe Moo. TWith20 seconds left in the period, the Saints would answer back and tie the game at two on the Grayson Galliford. But that's not where the period would end as the Spartans would retake the lead at 3-2 off the issuing faceoff when Ryan Campbel would bring it down and snip it by before time expires. The scoring pace would pick up when the second quarter came around as the teams were getting warm out there. Knights would win the quarter slightly with a 17-14 quarter and take the 32-23 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Wild Huskies would step up on the defense as they would hold the Knights to seven points and scored 16 to make it 45-39 Knights lead as they entered the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Wild Huskies would stay hot out there as they would win the quarter 13-7, and we would be tied at 52. Both teams down the stretch would have their chance to hit the winner, but they would rim out. The game would head to overtime, but on this day, they would need a second one as both teams scored seven in the first one to send it to the second overtime tied at 59. It would be the second straight night of the Plattsburgh Hornets and Beekmantown Eagles rivalry from Plattsburgh, as we would have Boy Basketball action this time. The game would start well for the home Hornets as they would jump out to the 14-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would step up their game on both ends as they would hold the Eagles to just 5 points in, scoring 21 of their own and taking the 35-13 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would almost be like a couple of rounds as the Eagles would come out soaring, have a 20-8 quarter, and cut it down to a ten-point game as it would be 43-33 Hornets after three. It would be the most equal one of the day in the fourth quarter as the Hornets would win the quarter 15-13 as they secure the 58-mandatory. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Basketball action from the Plattsburgh High School as the Hornets would host their neighbors in their annual rivalry game against the Beekmantown Eagles. The Eagles would come out flying in the first, doubling up the Hornets with a 13-7 quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagle's defense would be top-notch for the eight minutes as they would hold the Hornets off the scoreboard with a 13-0 quarter and take a convincing lead of 26-7 lead at the end of the first half. When the teams return for the third, it would be a bit more of a competitive quarter, but the Eagles would still be on top with a 14-9 quarter and take the 40-16 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would empty the bench and score high on both ends, but the Hornets would only win the quarter by one at 16-15 as the Eagles would get the 55-38 victory. It will be more of the same in the second quarter as they stay hot with a 13-2 quarter and take the 26-6 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would be a closer match as the Knights would find some offense, and the Eagles would win the quarter 8-6 and take the 34-12 lead into the 4th quarter. The University of New England Noreasters would win the 2025 Comfort Inn Winter Classic with a 4-2 victory. It would be the championship game of the 2025 Comfort Inn Winter Classic from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena, It would also see the host Plattsburgh State Cardinals taking on the #15 University of New England Noreasters in front of 1,100 fans. It would take until the early stages of the second period before we would get our first score of the game, where it would see the Noreasters take the 1-0 lead on the power play goal from Juraj Elias at the 2:55 mark. The game would stay there till the final 5 seconds of the period when the Noreaster's Drew Olivieri would beat the clock and give the Noreasters the 2-0 lead after the second period. The Cardinals would come out on fire in the third period and get the game to 2-1 just 1:50 into the period on the Colin Callahan goal. The game would stay there till the 12:48 mark of the period when Drew Olivieri would score his second of the night and regain the two-goal lead at 3-1. It would be the second day of the Comfort Inn Winter Classic, and start with the consolation game between the #10 Wilkes Colonels and the Wentworth Leopards from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The Leopards would get the game's opening goal at the 7:55 mark of the first period from Ian Worthley to give them the 1-0 lead. The Colonels would come back and tie the game at 1the 2:12 mark of the period on the rebound goal from Christian Blomquist, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there until the 5:18 mark of the third period when the Leopards would take the lead on the snip from George Kolovos for the 2-1 lead. Then, with the goalie pulled in the closing minutes of regulation, the Colonles would tie the game up on the Miles Harrington score with 1:38 left. The teams would head to overtime, where George Kolovos would get the game-winner on the rebound to complete the upset victory. It would be the 2025 edition of the Comfort Inn Winter Classic from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena, and the second semi-final on the day would see the host Plattsburgh State Cardinals take on the Wentworth Leopards, with the winner getting the #15 University of New England Noreasters in front of 1200 fans. The game would start well for the home Cardinals as they would get the game's opening goal from Jack Ring. The Leopards would come back two minutes later with a short-handed goal from Alex Walicki to tie the game at 1. Then the Cardinals would answer back at the ten-minute mark with two goals in 35 seconds from Kevin Weaver Vitale and Colin Callahan to make it 3-1 after the first period. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey, and for the second time in a week, the Saranac Lake Placid Lakers would come to Plattsburgh and the Ameri-can Sports Center as they would take on the Plattsburgh Hornets. The Hornets would get on the board at the 10:45 mark of the first period on the Chase Laravia goal to make it a 1-0 game. Then, about 90 seconds later, the Hornets would expand their lead to 2-0 on the Lucas Dashnaw goal, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there till the third period, as there would be no scoring in the second period. In the third period, the Hornets would make it a 3-0 game at the 11:12 mark on the Braeden Calkins. The Lakers would get on the board with just under two minutes left in the game on the Ayden McCormick goal to make it a two-goal game again at 3-1. It would take some time to get the first score of the game. We would be halfway through the first quarter before our first basket, but when the scoring came, the Spartans would string a few together and have the 11-3 lead after the first quarter. When the second quarter came around, the Hornets would find their shot, but they would not be able to chip into the deficit. The Hornets would win the quarter 12-11, but the Spartans would have the 22-15 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Spartans would stay hot with an 11-8 quarter and take a 33-20 lead into the fourth quarter. With the Spartans having the game pretty much in hand, it would be a slower pace in the fourth quarter played, and the teams would tie for the quarter at eight as the Spartans would get the 41-28 victory. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home to start the 2025 home portion of their season with a game inside the SUNYAC and also a matchup between top ten teams as the #7 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 Oswego State Lakers in the first of a pair of games on the weekend at the field house. The game would be evenly matched for the first 30 minutes as neither team could light the lamp, but not for not having chances on the net. The Cardinals would finally break through on the powerplay at 10:35 when Mattie Norton sliced it through the defenders for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 2:21 mark of the third period when the Cardinals would find the back of the net, this time from Tessa Morris, for the 2-0 lead. From there, the Cardinals would shut down the Lakers and get the 2-0 win. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey, and it would be a rematch of last year's thrilling Semi-final game as the #13 Saranac Spartans would host the Saranac Lake Placid Lakers from the AC North Sports Center in an early season conference match-up. The game would start well for the home Spartans as Gabe Moore would get the game's opening goal at the 3:30 mark of the period for the 1-0 lead. Later in the period, the Lakers would get the equalizer from Ayden McCormick to tie the game after the first period. In the early stages of the second period, the Spartans would regain the lead on the Landon Giroux at 2-1. The game would stay there till the 7:35 mark of the period when Ryan Campbell would light the lamp on the rebound goal. Then, with just under five minutes left in the period, Campbell would strike again for his second of the night and make it a 4-1 game. The Lakers would answer back on the powerplay with 1:35 left in the second period on Ayden McCormick's second goal of the night, and the period would end at 4-2 Spartans. It would start the 2025 portion for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would host the Ticonderoga Sentinels in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball action. The Hornets would start hot, and their defense would be up to task as they would shut them out in the first quarter at 11-0. When the second quarter would get underway, the Sentinels would find their shot, get on the offense,e and get in the game with a 14-12, although they would have the 23-14 lead as the team would head into the halftime break. It would be the classic Section VII rivalry with the Beekmantown Eagles hosting the Plattsburgh Hornets from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. Still, this game would have a different meaning today as it would be the annual Hannah's Hope as they raise money to help find a cure for the horrible disease that has stricken the girl. The game would start fast and well for the home Eagles as Edward Sweenor would light the lamp just 29 seconds into the game for the early 1-0 Eagles lead. The Hornets would come back and tie the game at the 3:55 mark on the rebound goal from Cooper Holland. Then, no more than 90 seconds after that, the upset-minded Hornets would take the 2-1 lead on the powerplay goal from Braeden Calkins. The lead for the Hornets would be short-lived as Edward Sweenor would get the tying goal just over a minute later for his second of the game, and the first period would end tied at 2. In the second period, the Eagles would get the lone goal from Edward Sweenor to complete the hat trick on the day at the 6:10 mark to make it a 3-2 game. Then, in the third period, in the early minutes, the Eagles would make it a two-goal game on the Novak Jarus goal at 4-2, and that's where the game would finish. The game would start with the Plattsburgh State Cardinals getting the opening goal near the midway mark of the first period on a goal from Colin Callanan at 9:38 for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there until the 7:38 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would strike on the power play with Aaron Catron's goal to make it a 2-0 game. The Keene State Owls would do their best to stay in the game, but in the end, the Cardinals would be too much on this day as they would add an empty netter in the final minute of the game from Aaron Catron for his second of the night as they get the 3-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 6:50 mark of the second period when Sam Bezio would snip by the Cougars goalie for the 2-0 lead. The Hornets would keep coming and expand their lead to 3-0 at 9:07 into the second period when Braeden Calkins would score. Then, at the 10:01 mark of the third period, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with the game's second goal by Sam Bezio and take the 4-0 lead, and from there, they would hold on for the win.
