The Cardinals would not be done, and they would make it 2-0 just two minutes later when Bridget Orr would find the back of the net, where the first period would end. The Cardinals would keep coming and make it 3-0 on Bridget Orr's second goal of the game at the 4:33 mark of the period, and that's where the second period would end. With the game in hand in the third period, the Cardinals would make it 4-0 on Mae Olshansky's powerplay goal at 15:58 to secure the victory. In the winning effort for the Cardinal, Chloe Lewis would make 18 saves for the shutout as the Cardinals go to 18-5-1 on the season as they head into their season finale against Williams on Wednesday on the road. It would be a late-season tilt from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the #8 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would face off with the Canton Kangaroos in the SUNYAC as they look to improve their seeding in the upcoming playoff with 300 fans in attendance. For the first half of the game, both teams would have their defense on display, as no one could find the back of the net. The Cardinals would find the net with 1:51 left in the second as Kayson Ruegge would light the lamp for the 1-0. The Cardinals would extend their lead to 2-0 just 89 seconds later when Molly Riggi would light the lamp, and that's how the period would end. The game would stay there till the 18:21 mark of the third period when Molly Riggi would get her second goal, this time c, coming on the empty netter as the Cardinals would get the 3-0 win. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Chloe Lewis would make 17 saves for the shutout victory as they go to 17-5-1 on the season and go for the weekend sweep tomorrow afternoon against the Canton Kangaroos. There would be no scoring in the first period as defense would be the name of the game, as the teams would combine for 15 shots in the period. In the second period, the Kangaroos would break through and get the opening goal at the 6:15 mark,ewhichewascKinnon would score and anchor 1-0. The Kangaroos would keep coming, adding a shorthanded goal at the 11:19 mark of the period when Jackson Drysdale would light the lamp and make it a 2-0 game. In the third period, the Cardinals would have their best offensive period of the night as they would have nine shots on the net and pull the goalie with about three minutes left in the net, but they would not be able to find the back of the net on this day. The Canton Kangaroos would pull off the 2-0 upset on the evening as Nate Hopkins would make 23 saves in a shutout victory as they go to 6-12-1 on the season and take on neighbor the Potsdam State Bears tomorrow night. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host fellow north country foe the Canton Kangaroos in nonconference action from the fieldhouse complex as they are in the middle of an early season homestand. The game would be tight through the first quarter as both teams were feeling each other out and the game would be tied at three at the end of the first scoring for the Cardinals would be Cam Morin, and Donald Woods (twice). In the second quarter, the home Cardinals would start to pull away as they would have a 5-2 quarter on goals from John Eiseman (twice), Anthony Faber, Cam Morin (second of the afternoon), and Logan Jones as the Cardinals would have an 8-5 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Cardinals would stay hot and start to take control of the game with another 5-2 quarter on goals from Tim Keenan (twice), Donald Woods (third of the game), John Eiseman (third and fourth of the game), as they take the 13-7 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would take control and put the icing on the cake with an 8-1 quarter on scoring from Logan Jones (second and third of the game), Kyle Ruland, Austin Mesler (second of the game), Cam Morin (third and fourth of the game), Jimbo Farrelly, Spencer Fucheck and Ely Bruhns as the Cardinals secure the 21-8 victory. It would be the semi-finals of the Northeast Womens Hockey League and the top-seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be hosting the four-seeded Canton Kangaroos at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of 475 fans. The Cardinals would open up the scoring just 4:47 into the game on the Mae Olshansky goal. Then around the 12:30 mark of the period the Cardinals would get two goals in under a minute from Sara Krauseneck and Holly Schmelzer for the 3-0 lead after the first period. The game would stay there till the 12:05 mark of the second period when Lily Stumm would score to extend the Cardinal's lead to 4-0. Although just over two minutes later the Kangaroos would get on the board to break up the shutout and make it a three-goal game again on the Mathilde Couture goal at 4-1. Then with just over 90 seconds left in the period the Cardinals would regain the four-goal lead at 5-1 on the Su An Cho goal. In the third period, the Cardinals would put the icing on the cake as they would get a pair of goals from Bridget Orr and Sierra Benjamin for the 7-1 victory. In the winning effort, Ashley Davis would make 17 saves as they go to 24-2.
