It would be the first of two battles of Saranac, as the Saranac Lake Lake Placid Lakers would meet the Saranac Spartans at the Ameri-Can North Sports Arena, as we near the end of the regular season. The upset-minded Spartans would get the opening goal of the game just 4:29 in from Ryan Campbell for the 1-0 lead. The Spartans would stay hot as they would add another from Brody Macomber to make it a 2-0 game nine minutes in. Then, at the 12:20 mark of the period, the Spartans took control of the game with an Elliott Batty goal, making it 3-0. The Lakers would answer right back 15 seconds later, breaking up the shutout with Braden Harvey's goal to make it 3-1, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there till the 6:44 mark of the second period when Ayden McCormick would score and make it a 3-2 game. The Spartans would answer back 90 seconds later on the Gabe Moore goal as they regained their two-goal lead at 4-2. Then, with just under 3:30 left in the period, Ryan Campbell would score on the power play and take control of the game again at 5-2. The Lakers would get the game back to two when Carver Bell would score with 1:26 left in the period and be 5-3 at the end of the second. Then at the 5:14 mark of the third period, the Spartans would regain their three-goal lead at 6-3 when Ryan Campbell would complete the hat trick. Although the Lakers would come back with two goals 44 seconds apart in the 6th minute of the third, Eli McCormick and Braden Harvey (second of the night) scored to make it a 6-5 game. Although the Spartans would keep coming, Killian Baker would score at the 10:45 mark of the period to make it 7-5. The Lakers would keep coming, and Ayden McCormick would get his second of the night to make it a 7-6 game with 3:39 left. The Lakers would keep firing on the night, but the comeback bid would come up just a bit short as the Spartans would get the 7-6 victory. Saranac's Elliot Batty (12) scored the goal that he slides through the pads of Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple (72) as he would make it a 3-2 game. It would be the second meeting of the season between the pair that share the Ameri-can North Arena, the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Saranac Spartans in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action. The Hornets would get the game going at the 4:31 mark of the first period on the Sam Bezio goal for the lone goal of the opening period. The game would stay there until the 5:29 mark of the second period, when Jacob Wheelin would extend their lead to 2-0, and that's where the second period would end. The Spartans would get on the board just 37 seconds into the third when Ryan Campbell would cut the deficit in half and make it a 2-1 game. Then, at the 10:52 mark of the third period, the Hornets would regain their two-goal lead at 3-1 on Colby Chase's power-play tally. The Spartans would have a quick answer just 53 seconds later when Elliot Batty would slip it by Hornets Owen Chapple and make it a one-goal game again at 3-2. Then just 90 seconds after, the Hornets would make it 2 goals again at 4-2 on the Cooper Hollad. Then, in the closing time of the game, the Hornets would add the empty netter from Alex Hanshaw to secure the 5-2 victory. It would be the rematch of last year's Section VII Championship game as the Saranac Spartans would host the Beekmantown Eagles at the AC North Arena The game would remain scoreless until the 1:03 mark of the second period, when the Eagles would get the opening goal from Evan Bruyere and take the 1-0 lead The Spartans would waste little time tying the game at the 6:13 mark of the period when Gabe Moore would hit the back of the net, and that's where the second period would end, tied at one. Then at the 2:22 mark of the third period, the Eagles would retake the lead at 2-1 on the Edward Sweenor goal. Then, just 2:05 later, the Eagles would extend their lead to 3-1 when Mason Carter would add the power-play goal. Then, with just 1:52 left in the game, the Eagles would put the final touches on the game when Edward Sweenor would add his second of the game. In the Eagles' inning effort, Jack Bell would have 19 ss, and they go to 5-6-1 on the season. As for the Spartans, Teegan Vanvalkenburg would make 49 saves as they fall to 4-8 on the season. It would be the 3rd annual Amy McLane Memorial Scholarship game at the AC North Arena, and it would once again feature the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Saranac Spartans in front of a packed house. The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game at the 13:05 mark of the first period when Owen Dubay would light the lamp, and that's where the first period would end. The Spartans would answer at the 1:39 mark of the second period, when Brady McComber scored to tie the game at 1. The game would stay there till the 7:39 mark of the second period when Ben Bezio would give the Hornets the 2-1 lead. The Spartans would come back again and tie the game at 2 on the Deacon Giroux goal at the 13:26 mark. The game would not be rematched for Vong, as the Hornets regained the lead at 3-2 on Tames Bayer's goal, and that was where the period would end. Then at the 5:42 mark of the second period, the Hornets would take their first two-goal lead thanks to Ben Bezio at 4-2. The Spartans would answer back again at the 8:10 mark of the period when Gabe Moore would sink it by and make it a 4-3 game. The Hornets would answer back again and stretch their lead back to 2 at 5-3 when Sam Bezio scored. Then, in the closing time of the game, the Hornets would add the empty-netter for the 6-3 win. Saranac's Brady Macomber (4) scored the game-tying goal with just over a minute left, sending the game to overtime. It would be an interstate contest, as the Saranac Spartans would host the Middlebury Union Tigers from Vermont at the American North Arena as part of the state 2026 portion of their schedule. The Tigers would answer the bell just 38 seconds into the game on Evan Northrup's goal. The game would stay there for the rest of the period. The Tigers would extend their lead to 2-0 on Ethan Mulcahy's goal at the 1:22 mark of the second period. The Spartans would answer back at the 2:52 mark of the second period on the Gabe Moore goal. The Tigers would regain their two-goal lead just 13 seconds later on the Asa Root Pratt to make it 3-1. The Spartans kept coming, and at the 6:05 mark of the second period, Robbie Squier scored to make it a 3-2 game. The Tigers would once again retake the two-goal lead at 4-2 at the 8:12 mark of the period, when Asa Root Pratt would get his second goal of the game. In the third period, the Spartans would come out shooting and, once again, make it a one-goal game at 4-3 just 1:26 in on the Zane Vaughn goal. Then, at the 7:32 mark of the period, the Spartans would tie it for the first time in the afternoon on the Adrian Barnes goal. Aiddlebury would answer with 3:14 left in the game on the Tyler Munson goal. Although the Spartans wouldn't go quietly, they would once again tie the game at four on the Brady Macomber goal. The teams would head to overtime, and two minutes in, the Tigers would get the game-winner from Gabe Quesnel to secure the 5-4 win. In the winning effort, the Tigers would go to 5-3 on the season as TJ Baron made 39 saves. As for the Spartans, they combined for 18 saves, but fell to 1-6 on the season. Gallery
