Beekmantown's Jake Rover (21) with the open ice hit on Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers Ayden McCormick (10) and jars the puck loose. It would be the battle of the top two teams in Section VII Boys' Hockey as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers, with the winners taking over first place in the standings as they come down the stretch. The Eagles would take the 1-0 lead just 6:18 into the game when Pryce Parker would find the back of the net. There would be 2:45 left in the first period, and a hit would send an Eagle into the glass, shattering it and delaying the game for around 45 minutes. The teams would come back, finish the period, and play the second period, with no scoring, as both teams had their chances but couldn't light the lamp. The game would enter the third period when the Eagles would extend their lead to 2-0 at the 12:45 mark on Pryce Parker's second of the night. Then, just over two minutes later, the Eagles would extend the lead to 3-0. The Lakers would get on the board in a span of 36 seconds from Braden Harvey and Ayden McCormick to make it a 3-2 game in the final minute, but the Eagles would add the empty netter from Pryce Parker to secure the 4-2 victory. It would be the semi-finals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey as it would be a rematch of last year's Championship as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #4 Saranac Lake Lake Placid Lakers for the right to head to the Championship Monday night. The Lakers would get the game's opening goal and the first line of the first period when Ayden McCormick scored at 4:57 to take the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 4:57 mark of the second period when Edward Sweenor scored to tie the game at 1. Then, just about two minutes later, the Eagles would take the 2-1 lead on Edward Sweenor's second goal of the game. The Eagles would keep coming and extend their lead to 3-1 on Edward Sweenor's third straight goal at the 10:18 mark of the period. The Eagles and Sweenor would stay host and extend their lead to 4-1 at the 12:39 mark of the period. Although, with just 1:22 left in the period, the Lakers would add one from Carson St. Louis to make it a 4-2 game at the end of the second period. The game would stay there until the end of the third period when Mason Carter would add the empty-netter to secure the 5-2 victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles' Jack Bell would make 36 saves as they advanced to the Championship against the #2 Saranac Spartans. The game would be tight through the first 20 minutes, as there would be no scoring. The Eagles would finally get the game's first goal to break the ice at the 1:24 mark of the period on the Pierce Dominy goal. The Eagles would waste little time making it a 2-0 game on Novak Jarus's goal just 34 seconds later. Then, with just over two minutes left in the period, the Eagles would extend the lead to 3-0 on Novak Jarus's power-play goal and his second of the game to end the second period. When the teams returned for the third period, the Lakers wasted little time getting back into the game as they scored twice in the first six minutes from Ayden McCormick and Braden Harvey to make it a 3-2 game. The Eagles would return in the 7th minute and take the two-goal lead back on the Pryce Parker goal at 4-2. From there, the Eagle's defense would hold the Lakers in check and get the 4-2 win as they go to 10-5-2, and Jack Bell would make 17 saves as they head into a tournament this weekend at Salmon River. It would be Section VII Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey action from the Saranac Lake Civic Center as the Saranac Spartans would have to travel there to take on the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers as we reach the second half of the conference season. The hometown Lakers would get the quick opening goal of the game when Will Landriault lit the lamp just 3:33 into the game as they would take the 1-0 lead On the powerplay. The Spartans would come back and tie the game at the 6:19 mark of the period when Ashton Catlin found the back of the net, and that's where the first period would end tied at one. When the teams returned for the second, Ashton Catlin would find the back of the night again for his second goal at the 3:19 mark of the period and take the 2-1 lead. Then, in the final two minutes of the period, the Spartans would go on a scoring spree they would, scoring three goals in 90 seconds from Ryan Campbell (twice) and Evan Patrie as the Spartans would take the 5-1 lead into the third period. When the teams returned for the third period, the Lakers would keep the hopes of a comeback alive as they would score just 2:34 into the period Ca.rson St Louis would find the net to make it a 5-2 game. The Hornets would get on the board at the 10:45 mark of the first period on the Chase Laravia goal to make it a 1-0 game. Then, about 90 seconds later, the Hornets would expand their lead to 2-0 on the Lucas Dashnaw goal, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there till the third period, as there would be no scoring in the second period. In the third period, the Hornets would make it a 3-0 game at the 11:12 mark on the Braeden Calkins. The Lakers would get on the board with just under two minutes left in the game on the Ayden McCormick goal to make it a two-goal game again at 3-1. The Hornets would finish the game in the final minute on the empty netter from Braeden CalkCalkins'l to secure the 4-1 win.
