It would be the battle of the North Country from Memorial Hall as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Potsdam State Bears in Men's Basketball action in front of 575 fans. The game would be tight through the first half as the Cardinals would have the 45-40 lead in a breakneck pace game after the first half. In the second half, it would come down to the last 10 seconds of the game as the Cardinals would come down and hit a layup from Ikechukwu Ezikea to give them the 75-74 lead. But then the Bears would take the inbound pass with three seconds left, and Nicholas Cortez would hit a three-pointer for the win past half court to beat the buzzer as the Bears got the 77-75 victory. In the winning effort, the Bears' Nicholas Cortez would lead the team with 27 points as they go to 3-14 on the season and head into their next game against the Morrisville State Mustangs. As for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals, Kareem Welch would lead the team with fourteen points as they fall to 9-8 on the season and head into their next game against the Cortland State Red Dragons. It would be the battle of the North Country from Memorial Hall as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Potsdam State Bears in Men's Basketball action in front of 575 fans. It would be the return of the battle of the North Country as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host their travel partners, the Potsdam State Bears, from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of 1,000 fans on poster night with the rare midweek game. The upset-minded Bears would get the game's opening goal on the powerplay from Eli Douhart-Wood at the 10:45 mark of the first period. The Cardinals would keep coming and equalize the game at one with the Kevin Weaver Vitale goal at the 17:16 mark of the period. Then, with just 25 seconds left in the period, the Cardinals would take the 2-1 lead on the goal from Jake Sacratini, and that's how they would head to the intermission. The game would stay until the 12:09 mark of the second period when Brody Spencer Ha would extend the lead to 3-1. The Bears would not be going away on this night as they would make it a one-goal game at the 17:21 mark on the Michael Campbell goal, and we would head to the second intermission with the Cardinals having the 3-2 lead. The Cardinal offense would be on fire in the third period, scoring four goals in just 8 minutes. Aaron Catron would score twice, and Patrick Cole and Jake Sacratini would score to make it a 7-2 game. The Bears would get a late goal with about two minutes left when Payton Felix would score on the powerplay, but the Cardinals would hold on for the 7-3 victory. NCAA Division III Women's Basketball: Holiday Inn Express Cardinal Classic Day 2: Castleton State Spartans Vs Potsdam State Bears November 16th 2024

It would be the second day of the Holiday Inn Express Cardinal Classic, and the opening game would be a matchup between Little East Conference and SUYAC foes as the Potsdam Stae Bears would take on the Castleton State Spartans. The game would start low scoring as they were feeling each other out, as the Bears would have a slim 10-8 lead after the 1st quarter. In the second quarter, the offenses for both teams would start to get in a rhyme in the early season contest as the Bears would win the quarter 20-12 and take the 30-20. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bears would stay hot and win the quarter 16-11 and take the 46-31 lead into the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the teams would play even throughout, and the Spartans would have the slim win of 14-13, but it would not be enough as the Bears would get the 59-45 victories. In the winning effort for the Bears, Xy'el Bradford would lead the way with 19 points as they went to 2-2 on the season. The Cardinals and Kelly Licata would strike again in the 25th minute as they would take the 2-0 lead. The Cardinals would stay hot and extend the lead to 3-0 in the 32nd second minute when Allison Brown would score her third of the season and give them the 3-0 lead, and that's how the half would end. In the second half, both teams would have their chances but could not find the back of the net as the Cardinals would get the 3-0 win and improve their record to 4-11-1 on the season as they head into their final game Saturday against Canton. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game at the midway point of the first period on the Bennett Stockdale goal to give the Cardinals the 1-0 lead. The Beas would come back and tie the game with 4:45 left in the period on the Ryan Mahlmeister goal. The game would stay there until the 10:54 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would regain the lead at 2-1 on the Luk Jirousek goal. The Bears would once again come back and tie the game with 12 seconds left in the second period on the Jack Loran powerplay goal. The game would go into the third period tied at two where nothing would be settled on the night and there would be a need for overtime. It would take til there was 5:37 left in the first overtime when Bennett Stockdale would score to send the faithful hope happy with the 3-2 win.
