Plattsburgh's Bryan Kemokai (2) lays it in off the window for the score on the breakaway. It would start the 2025 portion for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would host the Ticonderoga Sentinels in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball action. The Hornets would start hot, and their defense would be up to task as they would shut them out in the first quarter at 11-0. When the second quarter would get underway, the Sentinels would find their shot, get on the offense,e and get in the game with a 14-12, although they would have the 23-14 lead as the team would head into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the third, the teams would play another tight quarter with some high scoring as the Hornets would win the quarter 17-16 and take the 40-30 lead into the 4th. In the fourth quarter, defense would be the game's name as the Sentinels would try and get back in the game, but the 9-7 would not be enough as the Hornets would hold on for the 47-39 victory. With the win, the Plattsburgh Hornets go to 5-2 on the season as they head into their next game Thursday night at Saranac. Saranac's Henry Napper (14) breaks ahead of the pack and lays it off the window for the score as the Spartans get the 61-44 victory. It would be the third game of the opening day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Saranac Spartans and the Peru Nighthawks would look up, and the Nighthawks would be looking for their first win of the season. It would be a close game at the start, as both teams feel each other out. The Spartans would have a slim 13-9 lead after the first quarter. The game would remain close through the second quarter as the Spartans would win the quarter 16-12 and take the 29-21 lead into the break. When the teams would return for the second half, they would find their offense and take control of the game with a 20-6 quarter and have a convincing 49-27 lead as they would enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would empty the bench and let the rest get in the game, and the Nighthawks would win the quarter 14-6, but it would not be enough as the Saranac Spartans would get the 5-41 victory. In the winning effort, the Saranac Spartans would go to 2-3 on the season as they will take on the Beekmantown on the second day as they go for the title. Malone's Bradley Popure with the three from the wing, and he would later in the game hit the game-winner as the buzzer would go for the 60-59 win. It would be the annual return of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic. The day's opening game would see a matchup between the Beekmantown Eagles from Section VII and the Malone Huskies from Section X in a rematch from an earlier match this season. It would be a great start for the Malone Huskies as they roll out to a 15-4 lead after the first quarter with some great pressure defense. The teams would be more evenly matched in the second quarter as the Eagles would find their offense. It would be an 18-16 quarter for the Huskies, and they would take the 33-20 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, both offenses would stay hot, and it would be a 24-21 quarter for the Eagles, but the Huskies would hold onto the lead at 54-44 lead. When the fourth quarter would start, the Huskie offense would go to sleep as the Eagles would step up their defense, and they would have a 15-6 quarter. The game would come down to the buzzer when Bradley Popure hit the buzzer-beater to give the Huskies the 60-59 victory. In the winning effort, they will go to 4-3 on the season as they will play the Peru Nighthawks tomorrow for a chance to win the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic. I would start slow, with both teams missing their shots early in the game as they were getting a feel for the night, but in the second half of the quarter, the teams would feel better, and the Cougars would have the 5-point lead at 15-10 at the end of the first. In the second quarter, the Hornets would come alive on offense, and their defense would be shut down as they would explode for a 15-2 quarter and take a 25-17 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, the Hornets would stay hot out there as they would have a 17-4 quarter, expand on their run at 32-6, and take the 42-21 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the teams would play a little more equal as the Hornets would call all of the dogs and have a 14-11 quarter as they would get the 56-32 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 4-1 on the season as they head into their game next week against Hudson Falls. It would be the last game of the day from Clinton Community College as part of Regional Final Saturday and it would be in Class D NYSPHSAA Boy's Basketball in front of another packed house as #6 North Warren Cougars (II) and the #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats (VII) for the right to go to Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls and would they save a great game for the end. The game would be tight through the first eight minutes of the game as the Wildcats would have the slim 13-12 lead/ In the second quarter the lead would change hands a couple of times but still would be tight as the Cougars would have a 15-11 quarter and take the slim 27-24 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be the same chorus different verse out there as the Cougars would have an 11-9 quarter and take a 38-33 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, both teams would come and shoot out of the gym and the scoreboard would be on fire with a 23-19 Schroon Lake quarter. The Wildcats would take the 1-point lead with ten seconds left on the Logan Bush free throw. Although the North Warren Cougars would drive right back down the court and Semaj Cuyler (1) would lay it off the window for the score and give the Cougars the 57-56 win and the berth in the final four. In the winning effort for the Cougars Wyatt Jennings would lead the way with 17 points as they go to 20-4 on the season.
