#2 Clarkson Golden Knights Vs #6 Cornell Big Red March 22nd 2025

The Cornell Big Red would be crowned the 2025 ECAC Hockey Men's Hockey champions for the second straight season with their 3-1 win over the Clarkson Golden Knights. It would be the 2025 ECAC Hockey Men's Hockey Championship from the famed Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY, and it would feature the #2 Clarkson Golden Knights going against the #6 Cornell Big Red, who are looking for back-to-back Whitelaw Cups in front of 6000 fans. The Big Red would get the game's first goal at just 5:11 when Ondrej Psenicka beat the netminder for the 1-0 lead as the Big Red looked to respond. Then it would be just 1:52 later when the Big Red would extend their lead to 2-0 when Nick Desantis would score his eighth of the season, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there till the 13:23 mark of the second period when the Golden Knights would make it a one-goal game at 2-1 on Erik Bargholtz's sixth goal of the season, and that's where the period would end. In the third period, the game would go back and forth with both teams having their chances to get one, including the tying goal by the Knights. #1 Quinnipaic Bobcats Vs #6 Cornell Big Red March 21st 2025

The Cornell Big Red celebrate their overtime winner to advance to the ECAC Hockey Finals Saturday night with their 3-2 win over the Quinnipac Bobcats. The ECAC Hockey would make there annual return to Lake Placid and the home of Miracles for there final four and there first game would see the #1 Quinnipac Bobcats and the #6 Cornell Big Red battle for a spot in the championship game Saturday evening in front of 5300 fans. The Big Red would start the scoring in the first period when Jonathan Castagna would strike on the powerplay for his fifth goal of the season to give them the 1-0 lead with just 4 seconds left in the first period. In the second period, the Bobcats would answer back at the 14:09 mark when Andon Cerbone would score his 15th of the season and tie the game at one, and that's how the game would go to the third period. In the third period, the Bobcats would get their first lead at 14:42 when Chris Pelosi scored. Then with the Big Red down a man and pulling the goalie to even it back up, Kyler Kovich would score for his fifth goal of the season to send the game to overtime. In overtime, the Bobcats would take a slashing penalty, and Tim Reggo would rifle it past the goaltender for the game winner at the 14:39 mark of the overtime and advance to the finals with a 3-2 victory to take on the winner of Clarkson and Dartmouth in the other semi-finals. In the winning effort for the Big Red, Ian Shane would make 22 saves in the afternoon as they go to 17-10-6 in the season. #2 Clarkson Golden Knights Vs #4 Dartmouth Big Green March 21st 2025

Clarkson's Ethan Langenegger (1) wth the glove save on the close shot from Dartmouth's Hayden Stavroff (10) as part of a 23-save night. It would be the second semi-final game of the day from the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY, as it would be a part of the championship weekend in front of 5300 fans. It would be tight through the first period as both teams would have chances, but no one could light the lamp, and there would be no score after the first period. The Golden Knights would get the game's opening goal at the 1:04 mark of the second period when Ryan Bottrill would score for his eighth goal of the season for the 1-0 lead. The Golden Knights would be able to double up their lead at 2-0 when Tristan Sarsland would score just over 4 minutes later for his eighth of the season, and that's where the second period would end at 2-0, Clarkson. When the teams returned for the third period, the Golden Knights would extend their lead to 3-0 just 4:54 into the period when Trey Taylor would score his 9th of the season. The Big Green would keep coming and get on the board with 4:28 left in the game when John Fusco scored his 11th of the season to make it interesting down the stretch. However, the Golden Knights would put the icing on the cake with 1:50 left in the game when Ayrton Martino would get his 25th of the season to secure the 4-1 win for the Golden Knights. In the winning effort for the Golden Knights, Ethan Langenegger would make 25 saves as they go to 24-11-3 on the season and advance to the ECAC Hockey Championship against the Cornell Big Red tomorrow. #6 Chateaugay Bulldogs Vs #9 Schroon Lake Wildcats March 15th 2025

The Chateaugay Bulldogs are crowned the 2025 Nothern Regional Class D Girls' Basketball champions with a 49-24 victory over the Schroon Lake Wildcats to advance to the final four. It would be regional finals day from the Clinton Community College with a ticket to the final four on the line, starting with the Class D Girls. It would see the #6 Chateaugay Bulldogs from Section X taking on the # 9 Schroon Lake Wildcats from Section VII. The game would start quickly, but it would be good for the visiting Bulldogs as they would jump out to an 11-lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs would use their quick shooting to jump on, take control of the game with a 16-5 quarter, and take the 33-16 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bulldogs would keep up their tight defense, have another good quarter at 10-5, and take the 43-21 lead into the final quarter. With the outcome of the game well out of doubt, the coaches would put the benches in for the fourth quarter, and the Bulldogs would win the low-scoring quarter at 6-3 as they would secure the 49-24 victory. In the winning effort for the Chateaugay Bulldogs, they will punch their ticket to the final four and get the winner of LaFragville and South Knighton at Hudson Valley Community College. In the win for the Bulldogs, Madison McComb and Irelynn Laplante each had 16 points as they went to 24-1 in the season. #1 Berne Knox Westerlo Bulldogs Vs #13 Moriah Vikings March 15th 2025

The Berne Knox Westerlo Bulldogs would be crowned the 2025 Northern Regional Class C Champions with a 79-58 victory over the Moriah Vikings. It would be the second game of championship day from the Clinton Community College and this time it would be the boy's this time as the #1 Berne Knox Westerlo Bulldogs and the #13 Moriah Vikings as they battle for the Northern Region title and a spot in the final four as the Vikings look to make the return trip. Getting started would be a fast-paced game, but the Buldogs would have a 16-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, though, the Bulldogs would start to take control of the game as they would have a great quarter at 21-10 and take the 37-20 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Vikings would do their best to get back in the game, but it would be a fairly even quarter with the Vikings getting the 17-16 quarter as the Bulldogs would take the 53-37 lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter would be another high-scoring quarter, with most of the points coming from the foul line as the Bulldogs would have the 26-21 quarter to secure the 79-58 win. In the winning effort for the Bulldogs, they would stay undefeated in the season as Shake Kirker would lead the way with 36 points as they go to NYS Final Four next weekend. Elmira Soaring Eagles @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals March 15th 2025

The Elmira Soaring Eagles celebrate their 1-0 victory over the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they advance to the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Quarterfinals. It would be the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Tournament, and it would see an old rivalry renewed at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Elmira Soaring Eagles with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line. The Soaring Eagles would get the game's opening goal at the 13:57 mark of the first period when Erika Goleniak would light the lamp, and that's where the lead would stand at the end of first period. When the teams returned for the second period both teams would have there chances to get a goal as the Cardinals would lead the period 14-6 shots on goal but would not be able to get one in the net so the Soaring Eagles would hold onto the 1-0 lead as they went to the third period. Once again, in that period, the Cardinals would lead the way with 11 shots to 5, but they couldn't score, and the Eagles would get a 1-0 win. In the winning effort for the Soaring Eagles, Sara Sevcikova would make 40 saves in the shutout victory as they go to 21-7-1 on the season and advance to the quarterfinals against Wisconsin River Falls. #10 Saranac Spartans Vs #6 Queensbury Spartans March 7th, 2025

The Queensbury Spartans are crowned the 2024-25 NYSPHSAA Division II Boys' Hockey Regional Champions with their 7-0 victory over the Saranac Spartans. It would be the quarterfinals of the New York State Boys' Hockey Division II Tournament, and it would see #6 Queensbury Spartans and #10 Saranac Spartans from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena, with the winner going to the Final Four in Buffalo, NY, next weekend. The Queensbury Spartans would get the game's opening goal in the eighth minute of the first period when Oliver Coughlin would score, which would be the only scoring of the period. When we returned for the second period, Queensbury came out on fire as they scored three goals in the first five minutes from Cameron Porter (twice) and Ethan Kelsey to give the 4-0 lead after the second period. Queensbury would keep it going and make it 5-0 at the 8:32 mark of the third period when Ethan Kelsey would complete his hat trick. Queenbury would keep it coming and extend their lead to 6-0 at 11:11, when Cameron Porter would also score to complete a hat trick on the night. Then, in the game's closing minutes, Queensbury would get one more from Ollie Coughlan, and they secured the 7-0 victory. In the winning effort, the Queensbury Spartans will advance to the final four of the New York State Tournament, where they will get the winner of Rye and Ogdensburg. #4 Bolton Eagles Vs #17 Moriah Vikings March 6th 2025

Moriah's Jake Mascarenas (0) takes flight on the drive to the hoop for the score as part of a seven-point night in the 76-62 victory over the Bolton Eagles. It would be the opening game of the Section VII Champions Challenge Boys' Basketball as the #4 Bolton Eagles from Class D would take the #17 Moriah Vikings from Class C at the Clinton Community College gym. The Vikings would surge to a big lead after the first quarter as they would have a 23-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Eagles offense would come to life, but the Vikings would stay hot as the Vikings would win the quarter 24-16 and take the 47-22 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the offense explosion on both sides continued, as the Eagles won the quarter at 15-14, but the Vikings still led at 61-37. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would do their best to get back in the game, but the deficit would be too much as they would win the quarter at 25-15, but the Vikings would hold on for the 76-62 victory. In the winning tournament for the Vikings, they would go to 1 on the season, as Cooper Allen went for 38 points, and Tandy headheaded their New York State Tournament game against the Lisbon Golden Knights. As for the Bolton Eagles would fall to 21-2 on the season as Jace Hubert would have 23 points as they head into their New York State Tournament game against Harrisville on March 11th. Gallery

Beekmantown Eagles Vs Saranac Lake Red Storm March 6th 2025

The Saranac Lake Red Storm celebrated their 51-44 victory over the Beekmantown Eagles in the second game of the Champions Challenge. It would be the second evening game from the Clinton Community College gym, featuring the Beekmantown Eagles and the Saranac Lake Red Storm in the champions challenge. The Red Storm would jump out to the lead after the first quarter as they would double up the Eagles at 16-8 lead. In the second quarter, the Eagles would start to chip away at the deficit as they would win the quarter at 12-9, but the Red Storm would keep their lead at 25-20. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Red Storm would start to take control of the game as they would have a 15-6 quarter and take the 40-26 lead as they enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would do their best to get back in the game, but the deficit would be too much as they won the quarter 18-11, but the Red Storm would hold on for the win at 51-44. The winning effort for the Saranac Lake Red Storm would go to 16-7 on the season as Mik Denkenberger would lead the way with 15 points as they head into the New York State Tournament next week. #11 Saranac Spartans Vs #12 Peru Nighthawks February 28th 2025

Saranac's Breanna Ducatte (14) with the scoop shot as she goes around Peru's Bella Berry (4) as part of an 18-point night in 50-34 victory over the Nighthawks. After over a 15 year hituas it would be the return of the Section VII Champions and on the first night it would be the girl's taking center stage and the second game of the day would see a battle inside the top 15 as it would be the #11 Saranac Spartans from Class B taking on #12 Peru Nighthawks from Class A. The Spartans would start by taking control of the game in the first quarter as they would have a 13-5 lead on the Nighthawks after the first eight minutes. The second quarter would be more evenly matched as the Nighthawks would win slightly with a 14-13 quarter, but the Spartans would have the 26-19 lead at the break. When the teams returned for the second half, the Spartans found their groove again, had a 12-8 quarter, and took the 38-27 lead into the final stanza. In the fourth and final quarter, the Spartans would put the closing marks on the game with a 12-7 quarter and secure the 50-34 victory. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Breanna Ducatte would lead the way with 18 points as they go to 16-3 on the season, enter the New York State tournament, and play the Section II champion on March 12th. As for the Peru Nighthawks, they will fall to 17-4 on the season as Reese Duprey would lead the way with 18, and they are also headed to the New York State tournament and will play the winner from Section II. #9 Moriah Vikings Vs #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats March 5th 2025

Moriah's Maddy Eichen (4) with the off balance shot as she drove to the basket as part of a four point game in the 52-39 victory over Schroon Lake Wildcats. It would be the opening game of the Girls' Section VII Champions Challenge, and it would see the #9 Moriah Vikings from Class C take on the #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats from Class D at the Cinton Community College gym. The game would start very evenly matched with a 14-13 lead for the Schroon Lake Wildcats. When the second quarter rolled around, the Vikings took control of the game with a great showing on a 15-4 quarter and took the 28-18 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Wildcats would be able to get their game back again, but the Vikings' offense would stay hot as well, and the Vikings would win the quarter 16-14 and take the 44-32 lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter would be another tight one, as defense would be the name of the game. The Vikings would win the quarter 8-7 and secure the 52-39 win. In the winning effort for the Vikings, Emma Harrington would lead the way with a 30-point game as they go to 18-4 on the season as they head into their New York State Tournament game against the Lisbon Golden Knights. As for the Schroon Lake Wildcats, they would fall to 14-7 on the season as Olivia Hartwell would have 17 points on the night as they head into their New York State Tournament game against the Chateaugay Bulldogs with a berth in the final four on the line. #2 Saranac Spartans @ #1 Beekmantown Eagles March 3rd 2025

The Saranac Spartans are crowned the 2025 Section VII Division II champions with their 6-3 victory over the Beekmantown Eagles to secure their spot in the New York State Tournament. It would be championship time from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the top 2 teams in the section would face off for the right to go to the New Yorj State Division II Tournament and it would be the classic rivalry as it would be between the #2 Saranac Spartans and the #1 Beekmanton Eagles. The Eaglwa would come out looking to defend their title as they would get the game's opening goal at the 2:40 mark of the first period from Edward Sweenor for the 1-0 lead. The Spartans would be able to answer back at the 7:54 mark of the period when Ashtyn Catilin would find the back of the net for his 100th career point, and that's where the scoring would end. The second period would start like the first as the Eagles would strike early at the 1:04 mark to take the 2-1 lead from Novak Jarus. The Spartans would return and tie the game just 54 seconds later when Ryan Campbell would light the lamp. The Eagles would come back and take the lead for the third in the game at the 6:04 mark of the period when Edward Sweenor would get his second goal. Shortly after that, the S[artans would return and tie the game again, this time on the shorthanded penalty shot from Nolan Miner. Then, with just under two minutes left in the second period, the Spartans would get their first lead of the game at 4-3 when Ryan Campbel would wrist it by for his second goal, and that's where the second period would end. In the third period, the Spartans would expand their lead to 5-3 when Ryan Campbell would complete the hat trick at 9:15, when the puck would squeak through the five hole for the goal. Then, in the game's closing minute, the Spartans would add the empty-netter to secure the 6-3 win. In the winning effort, the Spartans advanced to the New York State Division II Boys' Hockey Tournament, where they will host the #7 Queensbury Spartans for the right to go to the final four. #1 Bolton Eagles Vs #2 Schroon Lake/Newcomb Wildhuskies March 1st 2025

The Bolton Eagles are crowned the 2024-25 Section VII Class D Champions with their 60-27 victory over the Schroon Lake Newcomb Wildhuskies and win the title for the first time in twenty years. It would be the third game of the day from the Clinton Community College Gym as it would be the second game of championship weekend, and we would have the #1 Bolton Eagles and the #2 Schroon Lake/Newcomb Wild Huskies in the Boys' Basketball Class C Championship. In the game's opening quarter, the Bolton Eagles would jump out to the big lead early with a 16-5 quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagles would stay on the attack, have a 16-4 quarter, and take the massive 32-9 lead into their intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Wild Huskies would do their best to get back in the game with a 12-6 quarter but still had a huge deficit at 38-21 as they entered the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would put the finishing touches on the game with an 11-3 quarter to secure the 60-27 victory. In the winning effort for the Bolton Eagles, they will enter the New York State Class D Tournament for the first time in 20 years with a record of 21-1 as they await the winner of Section X, as Jaxon Egloff leads the way with 15 points. #1 Moriah Vikings Vs #3 Ticonderoga Sentinels March 1st 2025

The Moriah Vikings are crowned the 2024-25 Section VII Class C Boys' Basketball champions with a 68-38 victory over the Ticonderoga Sentinels. It would be the fourth game of the day from the Clinton Community College gym on the second day of championship weekend, and it would see the #1 Moriah Vikings and the #3 Ticonderog Setinels in the classic rivalry for the Class C Championship. It would be a high-scoring game to start the first eight minutes as the Vikings would race out to an 18-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Vikings would start to take control of the game with a 16-8 quarter and take the 34-18 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarter, the high pace of the game would continue as the Vikings would win the quarter at 18-13 and take the 52-31 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Vikings would keep control and put the icing on the game with a 16-7 quarter to secure the 68-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Moriah Vikings, they punched their return ticket to the New York State Class C Tournament as Cooper Allen led the team with 27 points, and they went to 16-5 in the season. #1 Plattsburgh Hornets Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles March 1st 2025

The Beekmantown Eagles would be crowned the 2024-25 Section VII Class A Champions with a 52-46 victory over the Plattsburgh Hornets. It would be the weekend's last game from the Clinton Community College Gym. It would conclude championship weekend with the Boys' Basketball Class A Championship between the #1 Plattsburgh Hornets and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start well for the #1 Hornets as they would race out to a 17-7 lead. In the second quarter, the Eagles defense stepped up, slowed down the Hornets, and won the quarter 11-8, but still trailed 25-18 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would stay tight, but the Eagles would be better in the quarter with a 15-13 quarter, but the Hornets would take the 38-33 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would surge as they started the quarter on a 13-0 run and won the quarter 19-8 to get the come from behind 52-46 victory. In the winning effort for the Eagles, Duprey and Brunson would lead the way with ten points as they go to 13-7 on the season and enter the New York State Class A Tournament against the winner of Section II. #3 Cortland State Red Dragons @ #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals March 1st 2025

Plattsburgh State's Chloe Lewis (31) with glove save on the shot attempt as part of a 20 save effort for the shutout. It would be playoff hockey time from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as it would be a rematch of last year's SUNYAC Women's Hockey finals as the #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #3 Cortland State Red Dragons in the SUNYAC Semi-finals this time around with 570 fans in attendance. The Cardinals would get the game's opening goal with 49 seconds left in the opening period when Ciara Wall would find the back of the net for the 1-0 lead as they ended the first period. There was no scoring in the second period, but that doesn't mean that neither team had chances throughout the period. However, the score would remain 1-0 after the second period. The game would stay 1-0 until there were 23 seconds left when the Cardinals would contact on the empty netter from Tessa Morris to secure the 2-0 victory. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Chloe Lewis would make 20 saves in the shutout effort as they go to 19-6-4 on the season and will take on the Oswego State Lakers in the SUNYAC Finals next weekend. #2 Schroon Lake Wildcats Vs #4 Chazy Eagles March 1st 2025

The Schroon Lake Wildcats were crowned the 2025 Section VII Class D girls ' basketball champions with a 51-33 victory over the Chazy Eagles. We would have the second game of the day on championship Saturday from the Clinton Community College gym as part of Section VII Championship Saturday. It would feature the #2 Schroon Lake Wildcats and the #4 Chazy Eagles for the Class D title, and after the first quarter, we would have nothing decided as the game would be deadlocked at 13. However, in the second quarter, the Wildcats would start to pull away as they would have a 13-7 quarter and take the 26-20 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would stay tight as the Wildcats would edge out the quarter at 12-10 and take the 38-30 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Wildcats could seal the game away as they would go on a 13-3 run to secure the 51-33 victory and win the Class D title. In the winning effort for the Wildcats, Olivia Hartwell would lead the way with a 29-point game as they go to 14-6 and advance to the New York State Tournament, where they will take on the winner of Section X on March 15th. #1 Northeastern Clinton Cougars Vs #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm March 1st 2025

The Saranac Lake Red Storm are crowned the 2024-25 Section VII Class B Boys'' Basketball champions with theira 41-37 victory over the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. It would be the first game of the day from Clinton Community Colege and championship Saturday in Section VII Boy's VII Boy's Basketball action, and we would have the Class B championship with the #1 Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm. The game would be tight through the first eight minutes as the Red Storm would have the slim 13-12 lead. The game would stay tight through the second quarter and low scoring as the defense would be the game's name with an 8-8 quarter as the Red Storm take the 21-20 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the third quarter, we would have another tight quarter as the Red Storm would have the 13-12 quarter and take the 34-32 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, defense would be the game's name, but the Cougars couldn't get the basket they would need as the Red Storm would get the 7-5 quarter and secure the 41-37 victory. With the win, the Saranac Lake Red Storm would punch their ticket to the New York State Class B Tournament as Crist Cedar would have 15 points in the morning, and they would go to 15-7 in the season.
