NYSPHSAA Class D Football Quarterfinals: Moriah Vikings (VII) Vs. #6 Greenwich Witches (II) November 23rd 2024
Greenwich's Calvin Curtis (2) and the interception along the sidelines are intended for Moriah's Isaac White (3). The NYSPHSAA Class D football tournament quarterfinals would be the Moriah Vikings from Section VII. It would take on the #6 Greenwich Witches from the Beekmantown High School with a spot in the final four from Middletown next weekend on the line. The Witches would get the game's opening score just 3:53 into the game on the 20-yard keeper by Ryan Ingber for the 6-0 lead. The Witches wouldn't be done there as they would score again at the 8:17 mark of the first quarter on a 39-yard pass and catch Jay'den White to make it a 12-0 game. The game would stay there till there was about 2:30 left in the half when Ryan Ingber would score again, and this time from 23 yards, as the Witches would take the 18-0 lead, and that's where the first half would end. When the teams returned for the second, the Witches would pick up where they left off, strike on a 48-yard pass, and catch Joseph Radovich to expand their lead to 26-0. Then, about halfway through the fourth quarter, the Vikings would get on the board and break the shutout bid on the score from the Hughey run to make it a 26-6 game. Then, with about 2:30 left in the game, the Witches would add one more score, this time from William Weber, as they would secure the 34-6 victory. That would end the season for the Moriah Vikings as they finish at 4-5. As for the Greenwich Witches, their season will continue as they go to 10-1, and they will take on #4 Burke Catholic in the final four next weekend from Middletown. Gallery

The Greenwich Witches would be crowned the 2024 NYSPHSA Class D Northern Regional champs with their 34-6 win over the Moriah Vikings. The NYSPHSAA Class D football tournament quarterfinals would be the Moriah Vikings from Section VII. N.Y.S.P.H.S.A.A. Football Week #1 Granville/Whtehall Golden Horde @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 7th 2024
Granville/Whitehall's CJ Monty (35) with the stiff arm on Plattsburgh's Landon Ladue (4) as he battles for the first down and the extra yards. It would be the opening weekend of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Football season and it would see an intersectional matchup between the host Plattsburgh Hornets from Section VII and the visiting Granville/Whitehall Golden Horde from Section II from Plattsburgh High School. The game would start well for the visiting Golden Horde as they would take the 6-0 lead just 90 seconds into the game on a 2-yard run by the running back CJ Monty. They would answer again just over halfway through the quarter to extend their lead to 14-0 on their second running touchdown from CJ Monty. The Hornets would keep fighting and they would get on the board in the closing minutes of the second quarter when they would connect with Braeden Calkins for the touchdown reception making it a 14-6 game as they ended the first half. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be the tale of two halves as the rain would start to fall on the game and slow down the offense. The Golden Horde would be able to get through the raindrops, get a score, and make it a 20-6 game as they would enter the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Golden Horde would be able to catch their footing in the weather as they added two more touchdowns as they would secure the 34-6 victory. In the winning effort, the Golden Horde would start their season off 1-0 as they enter section II play against Warrensburg/Lake George. As for the Plattsburgh Hornets fall to 0-1 as they will take on the Ausable Valley Patriots who will both be looking to get their first win of the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Dominic Deangelo (15) with the juke on the defensive lineman for the extra yards as part of a two-touchdown game. It would be the opening weekend of High School Football in New York and the Plattsburgh Hornets would start off by welcoming the Hudson Falls Tigers in for a nonconference game. The Tigers would start the scoring off just over 8 minutes into the game with a 2-yard run by David Gonzalez for the 8-0 lead. The Hornets would answer back with just under 90 seconds left in the first quarter on a 29-yard pass to Dominic Deangelo and get the two-point conversion to tie the game at eight after the first quarter. That is where the game would stay until there was 1:23 left in the third quarter when Jayden Harwick would score for the Tigers and get the two-point conversion to take the 16-8 lead. However, the Hornets would answer right back with three seconds left in the third quarter on a 61-yard touchdown pass to Dominic Deangelo for the second score of the game and tie the game 16 after the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers would retake the lead once again four minutes into the fourth quarter when Peyton Dupuis scored on a five-yard run with 7:36 left in the game and got the two-point conversion to take the 24-16 lead. Although the Hornets would answer right back as Landon Ladue would take back the ensuing kickoff for a 73-yard score they would come up short on the two-point conversion and the Tigers would hold the 24-22 lead and get the win. In the winning effort, the Hudson Falls Tigers would start the season 1-0 as they head to conference play and take on Glens Falls. The Hornets will look to get the ship going again as they will take on the Saranac Lake Red Storm. Gallery
