Section VII Boy's Basketball Class D Championship: #1 Bolton Eagles Vs #2 Schroon Lake/Newcomb WildHuskies March 1st 2025

It would be the third game of the day from the Clinton Community College Gym as it would be the second game of championship weekend, and we would have the #1 Bolton Eagles and the #2 Schroon Lake/Newcomb Wild Huskies in the Boys' Basketball Class C Championship. In the game's opening quarter, the Bolton Eagles would jump to the big lead early with a 16-5 quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagles would stay on the attack, have a 16-4 quarter, and take the massive 32-9 lead into their intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Wild Huskies would do their best to get back in the game with a 12-6 quarter but still had a huge deficit at 38-21 as they entered the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would put the finishing touches on the game with an 11-3 quarter to secure the 60-27 victory. In the winning effort for the Bolton Eagles, they will enter the New York State Class D Tournament for the first time in 20 years with a record of 21-1 as they await the winner of Section X, as Jaxon Egloff leads the way with 15 points. We would have a matchup inside the Mountain Valley Conference of Section as the Seton Catholic Knights and Schroon Lake/Newcomb Wild Huskies, as they would both be battling the top seed in the playoffs about a month away. The game would start well for the home Knights as they would run out to the 15-9 lead after the first quarter. The scoring pace would pick up when the second quarter came around as the teams were getting warm. Knights would win the quarter slightly with a 17-14 quarter and take the 32-23 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Wild Huskies would step up on the defense as they would hold the Knights to seven points and scored 16 to make it 45-39 Knights lead as they entered the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Wild Huskies would stay hot out there as they would win the quarter 13-7, and we would be tied at 52. Both teams down the stretch would have their chance to hit the winner, but they would rim out. The game would head to overtime, but on this day, they would need a second one as both teams scored seven in the first one to send it to the second overtime tied at 59. In that second overtime, we would finally have a resolution as the Wild Huskies would win the quarter 5-2 and secure the 64-61 victory. In the winning effort for the Wild Huskies, they would go to 7-2 on the season as they head to their next game against Hartford on Monday afternoon.
