The Moriah Vikings are crowned the 2025 Section VII Class C Champions as they defeat the Ticonderoga Sentinels 45-37. It would be the second game of the opening day of Section VII Basketball championship weekend; It would see a battle between the top 2 seeds in Class C Girls Basketball as we would have the #1 Moriah Vikings and the #2 Ticonderoga Sentinels. The upset-minded Sentinels would have the lead early by the slim 10-9 margin after the first quarter. When the second quarter came around, the Vikings would go on a run, have a 13-2 quarter, and take the 22-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Vikings would keep their hor roll going as they double up the Sentinels with an 11-6 quarter and take the 33-21 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Sentinels would do their best to try and get back in the game with a 16-12 quarter, but it would not be enough as the Vikings would get the 45-37 victory. In the winning effort for the Moriah Vikings, Emily Nephew would lead the way with 11 points as they go to 17-4 on the season and advance to the New York State Class C Girls' Basketball Tournament. #1 Saranac Spartans Vs #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars February 28th 2025

The Saranac Spartans are crowned the 2025 Section VII Class B Champions with a 49-29 victory over the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. It would be the final game of the opening day of the Section VII Basketball Championship weekend; It would see the #1 Saranac Spartans and the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars tipping off for the Class B Girls' Championship. It would be a low-scoring game to get it underway, and see the Cougars have the 9-7 lead after the first eight minutes. However, in the second quarter, the Spartans would come alive and start to take control of the game with a 13-5 quarter and have a 20-14 lead as they went into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, the Spartans started to take control of the game with a 16-6 quarter and had a 36-20 lead as they went to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would put the game away with a 13-9 quarter and secure a 49-29 victory. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Madison Gagnier would lead the way with 16 points as they went to 15-3 on the season and earned a spot in the New York State Class B Girls' Basketball Tournament. The Peru Nighthawks are crowned the 2025 Section VII Class A Champions with a 52-38 victory over the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be the start of Section VII Championship weekend from the Clinton Community College, and it would start with the Class A Girls' Championship and see #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a close game at the start as the Nighhthawks would have the 10-7 lead after the first quarter. The game would still be tight in the second quarter as it would be an 11-8 quarter for the Nighthawks, and they would take the 21-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, they would still be tight, but the Nighthawks would have the slight edge at 14-12 and take the 35-27 lead into the final quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Nighhawks would have their best quarter of the night as they would have a 17-11 quarter to secure the 52-38 victory. In the wining effort for the Nighthawks, they will advance to the New York State Class A Tournament and take on the winner of Section 2 as Reese Duprey would lead theway with 24 points. It would be section VII playoff time in boy's hockey and in the dsemi-finals we would see both teams that call the Ameri-Can Sports Center home as the #3 Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the #2 Saranac Spartans with a right to go to the Section VII Championship on Monday night at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The game would go back and forth through the first period with the Spartans having the 15-3 edge on shots, but there would be no scoring. The ice would finally be broken at the 6:46 mark of the second period when Ryan Campbell would get the Spartans on the board at the 6:46 mark for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there until the 10:55 mark of the period when the Spartans would double their lead to 2-0 on the Landon Giroux goal, and that's how the scoring would end for the period. In the third period, the Spartans would take control of the game on the Nolan Miner goal at 7:35. From there,, the Spartans would clamp down the defense and hold on for the win as they go to 13-7-1 on the season and advance to the Section VII Championship against the Beekmantown Eagles and Saranac Lake Placid game winner. It would be the semi-finals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey as it would be a rematch of last year's Championship as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #4 Saranac Lake Lake Placid Lakers for the right to head to the Championship Monday night. The Lakers would get the game's opening goal and the first line of the first period when Ayden McCormick scored at 4:57 to take the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 4:57 mark of the second period when Edward Sweenor scored to tie the game at 1. Then, just about two minutes later, the Eagles would take the 2-1 lead on Edward Sweenor's second goal of the game. The Eagles would keep coming and extend their lead to 3-1 on Edward Sweenor's third straight goal at the 10:18 mark of the period. The Eagles and Sweenor would stay host and extend their lead to 4-1 at the 12:39 mark of the period. Although, with just 1:22 left in the period, the Lakers would add one from Carson St. Louis to make it a 4-2 game at the end of the second period. The game would stay there until the end of the third period when Mason Carter would add the empty-netter to secure the 5-2 victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles' Jack Bell would make 36 saves as they advanced to the Championship against the #2 Saranac Spartans. Plattsburgh State's Alex Ladue (18) scored a high shot on the net for the score as part of a three-goal game in a 25-11 victory over the Spartans. It would be the home opener for the 2025 Plattsburgh State Women's Lacrosse team as they would host the Castleton State Spartans in nonconference action. The home Cardinals would get off to a good start as they would have the 7-3 lead after the first quarter as Leah Klotz (three), Rachel Lamar, Nicole Resnick, Cynthia Barnosky, and Maddy Garcia would score for the Cardinals. In the second quarter, it would stay the same for the Cardinals as they would have another 7-3 quarter on goals from Tabor Iohseriio, Leah Klotz (twice), Caitlin Nash, Maddy Garcia (twice), and Ashley O'Hara as they take the 14-6 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarters, the Spartans would make their best stand with a 4-3 quarter scoring for the Cardinals, which would be Alex LaDue (twice) and Cynthia Barnosky for the 17-9 Cardinals lead. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would finish off the Spartans with an 8-1 quarter, and scoring for the Cardinals would be Caitlin Nash (third), Ashley O'Hara, Maddy Garcia, Rachel Lamar, Chase Calandra, and Isabella Girard as the Cardinals get the 25-11 victory. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Anna Myers would make 11 saves as they go to 1-1 in the early part of the season, and they will host the Union Charge in their next game on March 1st. It would be time for the SUNYAC Men's Hockey Playoffs from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #5 Potsdam State Bears, with a win advancing you to the semi-finals. The upset-minded Bears would get the game's opening goal at the 6:33 mark of the first period, while Jack Loran would get the goal at the 6:33 mark of the first period. The Bears would keep coming and expand their lead to 2-0 at the 11:56 mark of the period when Jeremy Quensel would score. Then, with just over a minute left in the period, the Bears would expand their lead to 3-0 when Rocco Seery would score, and that's where the first period would end. In the second period, the Cardinals would finally get on the board at the 5:30 mark when Lonan Bulger would score on the power play and make it a 3-1 game. That's where the second period would end. The Cardinals could cut the deficit to 1 at 3-2 just 4:52 into the third period when Brody Spencer Ha would score. Then, just about three minutes later, the Cardinals would return and tie the game at three on Lonan Bulger's second goal. Then, with just under six minutes left in the game, the Cardinals would get the lead on Patrick Cole's tip goal and take the 4-3 lead. Then, with 50 seconds left in the game, the Cardinals would get the empty-netter from Jake Sacratini to secure the 5-3 victory. It would be SUNTAC playoffs time, and the #4 seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #5 Morrisville State Mustangs in the Quarterfinals of the SUNYAC Men's Basketball playoffs in front of 725 fans for the first time in seven seasons. The game would be close throughout the first half, but the Cardinals would hold the lead for the whole half and end the half tied at 28. In the second half, it would be a lot like the first half and close throughout, and with 4 seconds left in the game, the Cardinals would extend their lead to three. The Mustangs would get a shot off at the buzzer, but it would rim out, and the Cardinals would get the 69-66 win after a 41-38 half. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, they would advance to the conference semi-finals and take on the #1 New Paltz Hawks as Franklin Infante would lead the way with 21 points as the Cardinals go to 15-11 on the season. It would be the regular season finale, and the Cardinals would be fighting to host a first-round game from Memorial Hall in front of 305 fans as they would take on the Blue Devils from Fredonia State. The game would start with the Blue Devils as they would race out to a 21-12 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Cardinals would start taking control of the game as they would have an even quarter at 14-14 but still trail 35-26 at the break. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Cardinals would start taking control of the game with an 18-11 quarter but still trailed 46-44 as they entered the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the defense would be the game's name for the Cardinals as they would hold the Blue Devils to three points while scoring nine to secure the 53-49 victory. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, they would go to 14-11 on the season, and Julia Creek would lead the way with 12 points, but it would not be enough to get the home first-round game as they will go on the road to play the Canton Kangaroos. It would be the start of the final weekend of the regular season for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals, and they would be hosting the Buffalo State Bengals in SUNYAC action in front of 225 fans at Memorial Hall as they would be looking to get a home playoff game. The game would not start well with the Cardinals as they would get doubled up after the first quarter as they trailed 15-8. In the second quarter, the offense would come to life for the Cardinals as they would have a 22-7 quarter and take the lead at 30-22 as they went to the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Cardinals would stay hot as they would have a 19-8 quarter and extend their lead to 49-30 as they went to the fourth quarter. In the fourth, the teams would play to draw at 15, although the Cardinals would secure their 64-45 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinal's Payton Couture would lead the way with 11 points as they go to 13-11 on the season and head into their regular-season finale against the Fredonia State Blue Devils. It would be the start of the regular season's final weekend, and the Plattsburgh State Cardinals are fighting to host a first-round game in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament as they take on the Buffalo State Bengals in front of 650 fans. The first half of the game would be tight and back and forth, and the Cardinals would hold the slim 31-30 lead. When the teams returned for the second half, it would be more back and forth, with both of them having their chance to win the game down the stretch, but the Bengals would win the half 37-36 and force overtime tied at 67. In the overtime, the Cardinals would get the 78-77 win when Franklin Infante would make the game-winning free throw with seconds to spare. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Franklin Infante would lead the way with 24 points as they go to 13-11 on the season and head into their final game against the Fredonia State Blue Devils. It would be the final game of the regular season from Memorial Hall, and see the Plattsburgh State Cardinals host the Fredonia State Blue Devils in SUNYAC and play in front of 550 fans. It would be a scoring, fast-paced game from the opening tip that would see the Cardinals jump out to a 19-4 lead to start the game before the Blue Devils would start coming back, and the Cardinals would have the 50-43 lead at the intermission When the teams returned for the second half the pace of the game would only get faster as both teams would have over 50 points in the half with the Cardinals winning the half 66-52 and secure the 116-95 victory. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Kareem Welch would lead the way with 25 points as they go to 14-11 in the season and will host the Morrisville State Mustangs in the first round on Tuesday evening. It would be the next to last game of the regular season for the Clinton Community College Cougars as they would take on the #1 Mohawk Valley Community College Hawka as they battle to make the playoffs. The first half of the game would be tight throughout as the Cougars would keep it close but were unable to get over the hump as the Hawks would have the 33-28 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, the scoring would stay there as the Hawks would stretch their lead to double digits through most of the half, but the Cougars would battle back late in the half to make it a game as they would get within five, but the Hawks would win the half 35-32 as the Hawks get the 68-60 victory. Saranac's Landon Girpux (17) with the goal as he beats Beekmantown's Jack Bell (31) for the eventual game-winning goal as the Spartans get the 3-2 win. It would be the last day of the regular season, and the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference title would be on the line, and the Beekmantown Eagles and the Saranac Spartans would face off at the Amer Can North Sports Center. The home Saranac Spartans would get the opening goal of the game and the lone goal of the first period when Evan Patrie found the back of the net and hit the back of the Eagles netminder for the goal and a 1-0 lead. In the second period, the Spartans would keep it coming, and in the 7th minute of the period, Adrian Barnes would find the back of the net and make it a 2-0 game. The Spartans would keep coming, and at the 15:13 mark of the second period, Landon Giroux would score on the shorthand when he beat Jack Bell on the short side for the 3-0 lead. Although the Eagles would do their version of the basketball buzzer beater as they would get on the board on the Edward Sweenor goal as the second period came to a close, and the Spartans would take the 3-1 lead into the third. In the third period, the Eagles would get the game within one on Edward Sweenor's second goal at 4:24. From there, the Spartans would ret and regain the two-goal lead, and the Eagles looked for the tying goal, but neither would happen. The Saranac Spartans would get the 3-2 win and hand the Eagles their first conference loss in over 3 seasons. However, the Beekmantown Eagles would be crowned the 2024-25 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference champions through the tiebreaker on goal differential by 1. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Shawn McLane would make 21 saves on the night as they go to 12-7-1 in the season and will take on the Plattsburgh Hornets in the upcoming sectional playoffs. It would be the Ameri-Can North Sports Center as the Plattsburgh Hornets would take on their arena mates, the Saranac Spartans, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action as they battle for the last couple of games of the regular season. The Spartans would come out on the take and fire through the first period, controlling most of the period, and Ashton Catlin would get the lone goal of the period at the 11:48 mark of the period to give them the 1-0 lead, and that's how the first period would end. The Spartans would stay hot as the teams returned for the second period and extend their lead to 2-0 at 7:42 when Evan Patrie would finish the two-on-one attack. The Spartans would keep coming and make it a 3-0 game when Ryan Campbell scored on the power play at 11:22. The Spartans would add a third goal of the period with 34 seconds left when Ashton Catlin would get his second of the game as the Spartans take the 4-0 lead after two periods. When the teams returned for the period, the Hornets would get one at the 6:11 mark from Braeden Calkins to avoid the shutout and make it a 4-1 game. The Spartans would stay on the gas and add a fifth goal at the 10:08 mark of the period when Landon Giroux would score to make it 5-1, and from there, the Spartans would hold on for the win. In the winning effort, the Spartans go to 11-7-1 on the season as they head into the season finale Wednesday night and take on the Beekmantown Eagles with first place on the line. It would be the regular season finale from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Fredonia State Blue Devils as they battle it out to get a playoff spot in the SUNYAC Tournament in front of 1200 fans. The road Blue Devils would look to spoil the Cardinal's chances at the playoffs as they would get the game's opening goal at the 9:17 mark of the first period when Sam Chrenka would score to make it 1-0. The Cardinals would come back and tie the game up at the 12:33 mark of the period when Kevin Weaver Vitale would find the back of the net for the powerplay goal, and the first period would end tied at one. The Blue Devils would retake the lead at the 11:14 mark of the second period when Gavin Bloder would find the net and give them the 2-1 lead. The Cardinals would keep coming and tie the game again with 40 seconds left in the period on Tyler Ramm's goal, and the teams would go into the break tied at two. It would be a late-season tilt from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the #8 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would face off with the Canton Kangaroos in the SUNYAC as they look to improve their seeding in the upcoming playoff with 300 fans in attendance. For the first half of the game, both teams would have their defense on display, as no one could find the back of the net. The Cardinals would find the net with 1:51 left in the second as Kayson Ruegge would light the lamp for the 1-0. The Cardinals would extend their lead to 2-0 just 89 seconds later when Molly Riggi would light the lamp, and that's how the period would end. The game would stay there till the 18:21 mark of the third period when Molly Riggi would get her second goal, this time c, coming on the empty netter as the Cardinals would get the 3-0 win. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Chloe Lewis would make 17 saves for the shutout victory as they go to 17-5-1 on the season and go for the weekend sweep tomorrow afternoon against the Canton Kangaroos. It would be the start of the last regular season weekend from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Buffalo State Bengals as they battle to get in the playoffs in front of 1200 fans. It would be the second game of the weekend doubleheader for the #8 Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the Canton Kangaroos from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in SUNYAC Women's Hockey in front of 400 fans. The Cardinals would start the scoring quickly as they would take the 1-0 lead just 3:36 into the game on the Mattie Norton goal. The Cardinals would not be done, and they would make it 2-0 just two minutes later when Bridget Orr would find the back of the net, where the first period would end. The Cardinals would keep coming and make it 3-0 on Bridget Orr's second goal of the game at the 4:33 mark of the period, and that's where the second period would end. With the game in hand in the third period, the Cardinals would make it 4-0 on Mae Olshansky's powerplay goal at 15:58 to secure the victory. In the winning effort for the Cardinal, Chloe Lewis would make 18 saves for the shutout as the Cardinals go to 18-5-1 on the season as they head into their season finale against Williams on Wednesday on the road. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference match-up from the American North Sports Center between the Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the Saranac Spartans. On this night, we would celebrate the eight careers of the graduating 2025 senior class before the game. Once the game got underway, the Spartans would be in control as they would get the game's opening goal at the 3:00 mark from Gabe Moore for the 1-0 lead. In the eighth minute of the game, the Spartans would make it 2-0 as Landon Giroux would find the back of the net for the Spartans. The Spartans would add another goal late to take the 3-0 lead after the first period. In the second period, the Spartans would get the lone goal of the period from Nolan Miner at the 6:30 mark to extend their lead to 4-0, and that's where the period would end. In the third period, the Spartans would waste little time making it a 5-0 game 12 seconds into the period, thanks to Ryan Campbell lighting the lamp. Then, in the 4th minute, the Spartans would make it a 6-0 game, and Gabe Moore would find the net for his second goal to finish scoring at the 13:20 mark of the third period. Nolan Miner would get his second goal of the game as the Spartans secured the 7-0 victory. In the winning effort, the Spartans would go to 10-7-1 on the season as they head into their next game against the Plattsburgh Hornets on February 17th. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the #14 Moriah Vikings would travel up to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets in a late-season tilt. The game would start well for the Vikings as their defense would be up to the task, and they would jump out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter. It would be more of the same in the second quarter as they would hold the Hornets to nine points while getting another 15 for themselves to take the 29-14 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would regroup themselves, come out on fire, and take the third 12-7 to tighten up the game at 36-26 as they entered the fourth quarter. It would be the tightest of them all in the fourth quarter as the Hornets would get the quarter 12-10, although the Vikings would hold on for the 46-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Vikings, they would go to 15-4 on the season as they head into their final regular season game next Tuesday against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. Bekmantown's Pryce Parker and Saranac Lake/Lake Placid's Carson St. Louis (11) battle after the puck as the Lakers look to get back in the game that would see the Eagles get the 4-2 win. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena between the host Beekmantown Eagles and the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers as we stretch in the season. The game would be tight through the first 20 minutes, as there would be no scoring. The Eagles would finally get the game's first goal to break the ice at the 1:24 mark of the period on the Pierce Dominy goal. The Eagles would waste little time making it a 2-0 game on Novak Jarus's goal just 34 seconds later. Then, with just over two minutes left in the period, the Eagles would extend the lead to 3-0 on Novak Jarus's power-play goal and his second of the game to end the second period. When the teams returned for the third period, the Lakers wasted little time getting back into the game as they scored twice in the first six minutes from Ayden McCormick and Braden Harvey to make it a 3-2 game. The Eagles would return in the 7th minute and take the two-goal lead back on the Pryce Parker goal at 4-2. From there, the Eagle's defense would hold the Lakers in check and get the 4-2 win as they go to 10-5-2, and Jack Bell would make 17 saves as they head into a tournament this weekend at Salmon River. Plattsburgh's Bryan Kemokai (2) with the three from deep as the Hornets defeat the Spartans 65-53 on senior night. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference from Plattsburgh High School, and it would see the host Hornets take on the Saranac Spartans on senior night. The Hornets would start the game hot as they jumped out to the 25-17 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Spartans would do much better keeping the game close through the quarter as the Hornets would win the quarter 14-10 and take the 39-27 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Spartans could stay with the Hornets and maintain the deficit as they would win the quarter 12-11, but the Hornets would stay on top at 50-39. As they head into the fourth quarter, the Spartans would hang with the Hornets again, but the Hornets would take the quarter 15-14 and secure the 65-53 victory. In the winning effort for the Hornets, they will go to 11-7 on the season as they head on the road for their last two games. It would be a matchup in the New England Hockey Conference from Weibel Arena as part of the Skidmore Thoroughbreds alum weekend, as they would host the Albertus Magnus Falcons in front of just over 300 fans. The game would remain scoreless till the 12:43 mark of the first period when the Thoroughbreds would score twice in 47 seconds on goals from Stephen Perez and Coleman Jenkins for the 2-0 lead. The Thoroughbreds would add their third goal of the period when Ethan Heidepriem scored at the 17:59 mark to make it a 3-0 game, and that's where the first period would end. In the second period, the Thoroughbreds would extend their lead to 4-0 at the 14:27 mark when Evan Brown would light the lamp. The Falcons wouldn't be outdone, though, as they would get on the board 26 seconds later to make it a 4-1 game on the Paden Hicks powerplay goal, and that's how the scoring would end for the second period. In the third period, defense would be the game's name as neither team could find the net, and the Thoroughbreds would hold on for the 4-1 win. It would be the Saranac Spartans and the #12 Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks to finish a doubleheader of hockey action from the Wiebel Arena at the Saratoga Ice Rinks. The Blue Streaks would get the game's opening goal, but it would take a bit as Gavin Partlow would score at the 10:33 mark of the first period to make it a 1-0 game. Then, just 26 seconds later, the Blue Streaks would make it 2-0 when Daniel Klochaney would score to give the Blue Streaks the 2-0 lead, and that's where the first period would end. The Spartans would come out in the second period and answer right off as Nolan Miner would score three minutes to make it a 2-1 game early in the second period. The game would stay there till the 12:15 mark of the period when the Blue Streaks would regain their two-goal lead at 3-1 when Ryan Barlow would score. Then, just over two minutes later, the Blue Streaks would extend their lead to 4-1 when Declan Corcoran would score, and the period would end at 4-1. In the third period, defense would be the name of the game on both teams as the Blue Streaks would get the lone goal of the period with 23 seconds left on the powerplay goal from Daniel Klochaney for the second goal of the game as the Blue Streaks secured there 5-1 win. In the winning effort, the Saratoga Blue Streaks go to 14-2-1 on the season as they go into their next game against Shenendhowa and battle for first place. It would be an intersectional battle as the Saranac Spartans would travel down to Glens Falls and the Glenns Falls Rec Center to take on the #8 Queensbury Spartans in what might be a preview of the state regional playoffs game next month. The Saranac Spartans would open the goal scoring as Ryan Campbell would get the goal three minutes in and take the 1-0 lead. Queensbury would return and get the game-tying goal just 2 minutes later, thanks to Ethan Kelsey, and tie the game at one. Then, just 93 seconds later, Ethan Kelsey would score again and give the home Spartans the 2-1 lead, and that's where the first period would end. When the teams returned for the second period, the Saranac Spartans would waste little time getting the equalizer as Ryan Campbell would get his second goal, and the game would be tied at two. The game would stay there til the 7:23 mark of the period when the Queensbury Spartans would answer again with two goals in 90 seconds and take the 4-2 lead on goals from Sean Culligan and Rhys Roberts, and that's how the second period would end. When the teams returned for the third period, the Queensbury Spartans would extend their lead to 5-2 just 1:01 into the period. The Saranac Spartans would try to make it interesting down the stretch as Ryan Campell would score at the 11:42 mark of the period to complete his hat trick on the night and make it a 5-3 game. From there, the Queensbury defense would clamp down as they got the win and went to 11-4-1 in the season. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey action from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Beekmantown Eagles host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars as we enter the second half of the conference season. It would take the 10:34 mark of the first period for the Eagles to get on the board with the game's opening goal from Evan Bruyere to make it a 1-0 game. The Cougars answered back and tied the game at one on the power play goal with 13 seconds left in the period from Baylon Cronkrite, and that was where the first period would end. The Eagles would retake the lead at 2-1 just 24 seconds into the second period on the Edward Swenor goal. The Eagles would keep coming and extend the lead to 3-1 on the power play goal from Novak Jarus at the 3:31 mark of the period, and that's how the second period would end. When the teams returned for the third period, the offense would stay hot for the Eagles and make it a 4-1 game at the 6:09 mark of the period when Novak Jarus would get his second goal. Then, with 4:28 left in the game, Jarus would complete the hat trick as he would make it a 5-1 game. The Cougars would add one late from Baylon Cronkrite with three minutes left in the game for his second of the game to make it a 5-2 game. With 1:44 left in the game, Edward Sweenor would get his second goal as they would secure the 6-2 win. In the winning effort, the Eagles netminders would combine for 14 saves on the night as they go to 9-5-1 on the season. It would be Section VII Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey action from the Saranac Lake Civic Center as the Saranac Spartans would have to travel there to take on the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers as we reach the second half of the conference season. The hometown Lakers would get the quick opening goal of the game when Will Landriault lit the lamp just 3:33 into the game as they would take the 1-0 lead On the powerplay. The Spartans would come back and tie the game at the 6:19 mark of the period when Ashton Catlin found the back of the net, and that's where the first period would end tied at one. When the teams returned for the second, Ashton Catlin would find the back of the night again for his second goal at the 3:19 mark of the period and take the 2-1 lead. Then, in the final two minutes of the period, the Spartans would go on a scoring spree they would, scoring three goals in 90 seconds from Ryan Campbell (twice) and Evan Patrie as the Spartans would take the 5-1 lead into the third period. We would have SUNYAC Men's Basketball action from Memorial Hall as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals host the Morrisville State Mustangs as they make their playoff push. The game would start with the Cardinals showing their dominance as they would get off to a quick big lead, but the Mustangs would keep coming back and have the 38-36 lead after the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, the Mustangs would keep the offense up and, at one point down the stretch, would have a couple-digit lead, win the half 48-44, and hold on for the 86-80 victory. In the winning effort for the Mustangs, Kareem Sanders scored 21 points, and they went 10-8 in the season. It would be the classic rivalry from the sold-out Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Oswego State Lakers in SUNYAC Men's Hockey action. The game would start well for the home Cardinals as they would get the game's opening goal just 3:51 in on the power play goal from Tyler Ramm to make it a 1-0 Cardinals lead. The game would stay there till there was 2:38 left in the first period when Shane Bondy would make it a 2-0 game on the powerplay goal, and that's where the first period would end. When the teams returned for the second period, the Lakers would get on the board at 6:38, and Matt McQuade scored at 6:38. The Lakers would come back and tie the game at two on the powerplay goal from Brandon Cohen at the 14:03 mark of the period, and that's where the second period would end. The Cardinals would come out on fire and retake the lead at 3-2 on Tyler Ramm's second goal of the game on the powerplay at the 2:57 mark. The lead would be short-lived as the Lakers would tie the game back up at three on the Daniel Colabufo goal at 4:23.
