The Eaglwa would come out looking to defend their title as they would get the game's opening goal at the 2:40 mark of the first period from Edward Sweenor for the 1-0 lead. The Spartans would be able to answer back at the 7:54 mark of the period when Ashtyn Catilin would find the back of the net for his 100th career point, and that's where the scoring would end. The second period would start like the first as the Eagles would strike early at 1:04 to take the 2-1 lead from Novak Jarus. The Spartans would return and tie the game just 54 seconds later when Ryan Campbell would light the lamp. The Eagles would come back and take the lead for the third in the game at the 6:04 mark of the period when Edward Sweenor would get his second goal. Shortly after that, the S[artans would return and tie the game again, this time on the shorthanded penalty shot from Nolan Miner. Then, with just under two minutes left in the second period, the Spartans would get their first lead of the game at 4-3 when Ryan Campbel would wrist it by for his second goal, and that's where the second period would end. In the third period, the Spartans would expand their lead to 5-3 when Ryan Campbell would complete the hat trick at 9:15, when the puck would squeak through the five hole for the goal. Then, in the game's closing minute, the Spartans would add the empty-netter to secure the 6-3 win. In the winning effort, the Spartans advanced to the New York State Division II Boys' Hockey Tournament, where they will host the #7 Queensbury Spartans for the right to go to the final four. It would be the semi-finals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey as it would be a rematch of last year's Championship as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #4 Saranac Lake Lake Placid Lakers for the right to head to the Championship Monday night. The Lakers would get the game's opening goal and the first line of the first period when Ayden McCormick scored at 4:57 to take the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 4:57 mark of the second period when Edward Sweenor scored to tie the game at 1. Then, just about two minutes later, the Eagles would take the 2-1 lead on Edward Sweenor's second goal of the game. The Eagles would keep coming and extend their lead to 3-1 on Edward Sweenor's third straight goal at the 10:18 mark of the period. The Eagles and Sweenor would stay host and extend their lead to 4-1 at the 12:39 mark of the period. Although, with just 1:22 left in the period, the Lakers would add one from Carson St. Louis to make it a 4-2 game at the end of the second period. The game would stay there until the end of the third period when Mason Carter would add the empty-netter to secure the 5-2 victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles' Jack Bell would make 36 saves as they advanced to the Championship against the #2 Saranac Spartans. It would be the last day of the regular season, and the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference title would be on the line, and the Beekmantown Eagles and the Saranac Spartans would face off at the Amer Can North Sports Center. The home Saranac Spartans would get the opening goal of the game and the lone goal of the first period when Evan Patrie found the back of the net and hit the back of the Eagles netminder for the goal and a 1-0 lead. In the second period, the Spartans would keep it coming, and in the 7th minute of the period, Adrian Barnes would find the back of the net and make it a 2-0 game. The Spartans would keep coming, and at the 15:13 mark of the second period, Landon Giroux would score on the shorthand when he beat Jack Bell on the short side for the 3-0 lead. Although the Eagles would do their version of the basketball buzzer beater as they would get on the board on the Edward Sweenor goal as the second period came to a close, and the Spartans would take the 3-1 lead into the third. In the third period, the Eagles would get the game within one on Edward Sweenor's second goal at 4:24. From there, the Spartans would ret and regain the two-goal lead, and the Eagles looked for the tying goal, but neither would happen. The Saranac Spartans would get the 3-2 win and hand the Eagles their first conference loss in over 3 seasons. However, the Beekmantown Eagles would be crowned the 2024-25 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference champions through the tiebreaker on goal differential by 1. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Shawn McLane would make 21 saves on the night as they go to 12-7-1 in the season and will take on the Plattsburgh Hornets in the upcoming sectional playoffs. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena between the host Beekmantown Eagles and the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers as we stretch in the season. The game would be tight through the first 20 minutes, as there would be no scoring. The Eagles would finally get the game's first goal to break the ice at the 1:24 mark of the period on the Pierce Dominy goal. The Eagles would waste little time making it a 2-0 game on Novak Jarus's goal just 34 seconds later. Then, with just over two minutes left in the period, the Eagles would extend the lead to 3-0 on Novak Jarus's power-play goal and his second of the game to end the second period. When the teams returned for the third period, the Lakers wasted little time getting back into the game as they scored twice in the first six minutes from Ayden McCormick and Braden Harvey to make it a 3-2 game. The Eagles would return in the 7th minute and take the two-goal lead back on the Pryce Parker goal at 4-2. From there, the Eagle's defense would hold the Lakers in check and get the 4-2 win as they go to 10-5-2, and Jack Bell would make 17 saves as they head into a tournament this weekend at Salmon River. It would take the 10:34 mark of the first period for the Eagles to get on the board with the game's opening goal from Evan Bruyere to make it a 1-0 game. The Cougars answered back and tied the game at one on the power play goal with 13 seconds left in the period from Baylon Cronkrite, and that was where the first period would end. The Eagles would retake the lead at 2-1 just 24 seconds into the second period on the Edward Swenor goal. The Eagles would keep coming and extend the lead to 3-1 on the power play goal from Novak Jarus at the 3:31 mark of the period, and that's how the second period would end. When the teams returned for the third period, the offense would stay hot for the Eagles and make it a 4-1 game at the 6:09 mark when Novak Jarus would get his second goal. Then, with 4:28 left in the game, Jarus would complete the hat trick as he would make it a 5-1 game. The Cougars would add one late from Baylon Cronkrite with three minutes left in the game for his second of the game to make it a 5-2 game. With 1:44 left in the game, Edward Sweenor would get his second goal as they would secure the 6-2 win. In the winning effort, the Eagles netminders would combine for 14 saves on the night as they go to 9-5-1 on the season. They head into their next game against the Plattsburgh Hornets on Friday night as they battle for first place in the standings.
