Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class A Girl's Basketball Championship: #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles February 28th 2025

It would be the start of Section VII Championship weekend from the Clinton Community College, and it would start with the Class A Girls' Championship and see #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a close game at the start as the Nighhthawks would have the 10-7 lead after the first quarter. The game would still be tight in the second quarter as it would be an 11-8 quarter for the Nighthawks, and they would take the 21-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, they would still be tight, but the Nighthawks would have the slight edge at 14-12 and take the 35-27 lead into the final quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Nighhawks would have their best quarter of the night as they would have a 17-11 quarter to secure the 52-38 victory. In the wining effort for the Nighthawks, they will advance to the New York State Class A Tournament and take on the winner of Section 2 as Reese Duprey would lead theway with 24 points. The Peru Nighthawks are crowned the 2025 Section VII Class A Champions with a 52-38 victory over the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be the start of Section VII Championship weekend from the Clinton Community College, and it would start with the Class A Girls' Championship and see #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a close game at the start as the Nighhthawks would have the 10-7 lead after the first quarter. The game would still be tight in the second quarter as it would be an 11-8 quarter for the Nighthawks, and they would take the 21-15 lead into the intermission. Beekmantown's Payton Parliment (13) slices through a pair of Hornets for the score as she leads the night in scoring. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Basketball action from the Plattsburgh High School as the Hornets would host their neighbors in their annual rivalry game against the Beekmantown Eagles. The Eagles would come out flying in the first, doubling the Hornets with a 13-7 quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagle's defense would be top-notch for the eight minutes as they would hold the Hornets off the scoreboard with a 13-0 quarter and take a convincing lead of 26-7 lead at the end of the first half. When the teams return for the third, it would be a bit more of a competitive quarter, but the Eagles would still be on top with a 14-9 quarter and take the 40-16 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would empty the bench and score high on both ends, but the Hornets would only win the quarter by one at 16-15 as the Eagles would get the 55-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Eagles, they would go to 6-4 on the season as they head into their next game on Thursday against Ausable Valley. It would be the second game of the 2024 edition of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, and it would be the first appearance of the girls; it would see the Malone Huskies from Section X taking on the Beekmantown Eagles from Section VII, and the Huskies would be looking to stay perfect on the early season. The Huskies would be off to the races as they would break into a 21-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would stay on the gas, expand their lead to 15-6, and take a 36--14 lead into the break. When the teams return for the second half, it will be more of the same as when the Huskies stay hot, have a 17-7 quarter, and take the 53-21 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would put the bench in there, and the Huskies would be unable to as they only have a bench of 2 players. The Huskies would win the fourth 17-4 and get a convincing 70-25 victory. The Nighthawks would come into the game with upset on their mind and in the first quarter they would show it with a 10-4 quarter. In the second quarter, it would be the complete opposite as the Eagles would settle and their offense would come as they would win the quarter 10-3 and have a slim 14-13 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the teams would play very evenly as the game would be tied at 26 as they head into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter the Eagles would have a 16-10 quarter as there would be over a third of the points scored in just that quarter along the Eagles would get the come-from-behind victory at 42-36. It would be the classic crosstown rivalry tonight in section VII girl's basketball as the Plattsburgh Hornets would be hosting the Beekmantown Eagles in an early season match-up. The game would be tight and low-scoring through the first quarter as it would be tied at seven. In the second quarter, the teams would start to find their shot and the scoring would show it as the Eagles would have an 18-10 quarter and take a 25-17 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles would stay hot and take the third quarter 14-9 to take a 39-26 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would go into defensive mode and protect their lead as the Hornets win the quarter 10-9. However, the Eagles would hold on and get the win in the crosstown match 48-36. In the winning effort, the Eagles would even up their record at 2-2 on the season as they head into their next contest on the 19th against Northeastern Clinton.
