The Beekmantown Eagles would be crowned the 2024-25 Section VII Class A Champions with a 52-46 victory over the Plattsburgh Hornets. It would be the weekend's last game from the Clinton Community College Gym. It would conclude championship weekend with the Boys' Basketball Class A Championship between the #1 Plattsburgh Hornets and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start well for the #1 Hornets as they would race out to a 17-7 lead. In the second quarter, the Eagles defense stepped up, slowed down the Hornets, and won the quarter 11-8, but still trailed 25-18 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would stay tight, but the Eagles would be better in the quarter with a 15-13 quarter, but the Hornets would take the 38-33 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would surge as they started the quarter on a 13-0 run and won the quarter 19-8 to get the come from behind 52-46 victory. In the winning effort for the Eagles, Duprey and Brunson would lead the way with ten points as they go to 13-7 on the season and enter the New York State Class A Tournament against the winner of Section II. It would be section VII playoff time in boy's hockey and in the dsemi-finals we would see both teams that call the Ameri-Can Sports Center home as the #3 Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the #2 Saranac Spartans with a right to go to the Section VII Championship on Monday night at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The game would go back and forth through the first period with the Spartans having the 15-3 edge on shots, but there would be no scoring. The ice would finally be broken at the 6:46 mark of the second period when Ryan Campbell would get the Spartans on the board at the 6:46 mark for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there until the 10:55 mark of the period when the Spartans would double their lead to 2-0 on the Landon Giroux goal, and that's how the scoring would end for the period. In the third period, the Spartans would take control of the game on the Nolan Miner goal at 7:35. From there,, the Spartans would clamp down the defense and hold on for the win as they go to 13-7-1 on the season and advance to the Section VII Championship against the Beekmantown Eagles and Saranac Lake Placid game winner. The Saranac Spartans celebrate their 3-0 win over the Plattsburgh Hornets in the Section VII Semi-Finals and advance to the finals next week. It would be section VII playoff time in boy's hockey and in the dsemi-finals we would see both teams that call the Ameri-Can Sports Center home as the #3 Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the #2 Saranac Spartans with a right to go to the Section VII Championship on Monday night at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The ice would finally be broken at the 6:46 mark of the second period when Ryan Campbell would get the Spartans on the board at the 6:46 mark for the 1-0 lead. The Spartans would come out on the take and fire through the first period, controlling most of the period, and Ashton Catlin would get the lone goal of the period at the 11:48 mark of the period to give them the 1-0 lead, and that's how the first period would end. The Spartans would stay hot as the teams returned for the second period and extend their lead to 2-0 at 7:42 when Evan Patrie would finish the two-on-one attack. The Spartans would keep coming and make it a 3-0 game when Ryan Campbell scored on the power play at 11:22. The Spartans would add a third goal of the period with 34 seconds left when Ashton Catlin would get his second of the game as the Spartans take the 4-0 lead after two periods. When the teams returned for the period, the Hornets would get one at the 6:11 mark from Braeden Calkins to avoid the shutout and make it a 4-1 game. The Spartans would stay on the gas and add a fifth goal at the 10:08 mark of the period when Landon Giroux would score to make it 5-1, and from there, the Spartans would hold on for the win. In the winning effort, the Spartans go to 11-7-1 on the season as they head into the season finale Wednesday night and take on the Beekmantown Eagles with first place on the line. The game would start well for the Vikings as their defense would be up to the task, and they would jump out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter. It would be more of the same in the second quarter as they would hold the Hornets to nine points while getting another 15 for themselves to take the 29-14 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would regroup themselves, come out on fire, and take the third 12-7 to tighten up the game at 36-26 as they entered the fourth quarter. It would be the tightest in the fourth quarter as the Hornets would get the quarter 12-10, although the Vikings would hold on for the 46-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Vikings, they would go to 15-4 on the season as they head into their final regular season game next Tuesday against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. In the second quarter, the Spartans would do much better keeping the game close through the quarter as the Hornets would win the quarter 14-10 and take the 39-27 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Spartans could stay with the Hornets and maintain the deficit as they would win the quarter 12-11, but the Hornets would stay on top at 50-39. As they head into the fourth quarter, the Spartans would hang with the Hornets again, but the Hornets would take the quarter 15-14 and secure the 65-53 victory. In the winning effort for the Hornets, they will go to 11-7 on the season as they head on the road for their last two games. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #9 Moriah Vikings in Boy's Basketball action. Both teams would have the offense going in the first quarter, and we would be deadlocked at the end of the first quarter at 16 a piece. The offenses were still hot in the second quarter as the Hornets would take the quarter 13-10, and the Hornets would take the 29-26 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Vikings would come out hot and look to return to the game. After the third quarter, they would take the lead with a 15-10 quarter and have a slim 41-39 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would take the quarter 15-13 and go to overtime tied at 54. Although coming down the stretch, both teams would have their chances to win it but couldn't cash in the winning basket. In the overtime period, the Hornets would have a 6-5 quarter, the Vikings would fall on the winning shot as the clock expired, and the Hornets would have the 60-59 victory. In the winning effort for the Hornets, Bryan Kemokai would have 27 points as they go to 8-5 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday against the Ogdensburg Blue Devils. As for the Moriah Vikings, they fall to 10-3 on the season, as Cooper Allen and Chase McGinmess have 14 points each night and will be back in action on Monday against Ticonderoga. Gallery
