Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey: Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers @ Beekmantown Eagles February 11th, 2025

Beekmantown's Edward Sweenor (56) with the bunch crunching hit on the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid skater into the boards and glass. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena between the host Beekmantown Eagles and the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers as we stretch in the season. The game would be tight through the first 20 minutes, as there would be no scoring. The Eagles would finally get the game's first goal to break the ice at the 1:24 mark of the period on the Pierce Dominy goal. The Eagles would waste little time making it a 2-0 game on Novak Jarus's goal just 34 seconds later. Then, with just over two minutes left in the period, the Eagles would extend the lead to 3-0 on Novak Jarus's power-play goal and his second of the game to end the second period. When the teams returned for the third period, the Lakers wasted little time getting back into the game as they scored twice in the first six minutes from Ayden McCormick and Braden Harvey to make it a 3-2 game. It would be Section VII Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey action from the Saranac Lake Civic Center as the Saranac Spartans would have to travel there to take on the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers as we reach the second half of the conference season. The hometown Lakers would get the quick opening goal of the game when Will Landriault lit the lamp just 3:33 into the game as they would take the 1-0 lead On the powerplay. The Spartans would come back and tie the game at the 6:19 mark of the period when Ashton Catlin found the back of the net, and that's where the first period would end tied at one. When the teams returned for the second, Ashton Catlin would find the back of the night again for his second goal at the 3:19 mark of the period and take the 2-1 lead. Then, in the final two minutes of the period, the Spartans would go on a scoring spree they would, scoring three goals in 90 seconds from Ryan Campbell (twice) and Evan Patrie as the Spartans would take the 5-1 lead into the third period. When the teams returned for the third period, the Lakers would keep the hopes of a comeback alive as they would score just 2:34 into the period Ca.rson St Louis would find the net to make it a 5-2 game. From there, the Spartan's defense would clamp down and get the win. In the winning, Shawn Mclane would make 20 saves as they go to 9-5-1 on the season. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey, and for the second time in a week, the Saranac Lake Placid Lakers would come to Plattsburgh and the Ameri-can Sports Center as they would take on the Plattsburgh Hornets. The Hornets would get on the board at the 10:45 mark of the first period on the Chase Laravia goal to make it a 1-0 game. Then, about 90 seconds later, the Hornets would expand their lead to 2-0 on the Lucas Dashnaw goal, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there till the third period, as there would be no scoring in the second period. In the third period, the Hornets would make it a 3-0 game at the 11:12 mark on the Braeden Calkins. The Lakers would get on the board with just under two minutes left in the game on the Ayden McCormick goal to make it a two-goal game again at 3-1. The Hornets would finish the game in the final minute on the empty netter from Braeden CalkCalkins'l to secure the 4-1 win. With the win, the Plattsburgh Hornets go to 2-4-1 on the season as they head into their tournament in Albany next weekend. Later in the period, the Lakers would get the equalizer from Ayden McCormick to tie the game after the first period. In the early stages of the second period, the Spartans would regain the lead on the Landon Giroux at 2-1. The game would stay there till the 7:35 mark of the period when Ryan Campbell would light the lamp on the rebound goal. Then, with just under five minutes left in the period, Campbell would strike again for his second of the night and make it a 4-1 game. The Lakers would answer back on the powerplay with 1:35 left in the second period on Ayden McCormick's second goal of the night, and the period would end at 4-2 Spartans. It would take the 11:52 mark of the third period for the next goal when Ashytn Catlin would score for the Spartans and make it a 5-2 game, but just 15 seconds later, the Spartans would extend it to 6-2 on Nolan Miner's goal.
