It would be Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball action from Plattsburgh as the home Hornets would meet up with the rival crosstown Peru Nighthawks on a Friday Night. The game would start well for the Hornets as they would start by doubling up the Nighthawks at 16-8 after the first quarter. The teams would be a little more equal in the second quarter, but the Hornets would win the quarter slightly at 9-7 and take the 25-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would be hot, double up the Nighthawks again, this time at 20-10, and take the 45-25 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, with the outcome of the game no longer in doubt, the teams would empty the benches, and the Nighthawks would win the fourth quarter at 10-6, but it would not be enough on this day as the Hornets would get the 51-35 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets will go to 8-4 on the season as they head on the road tomorrow with a nonleague game against the Ogdensburg Blue Devils. As for the Nighthawks, they dropped another one and are now 1-11 on the season, and they will return to action Monday as they go on the road to take on Schroon Lake/Newcomb. Gallery

Saranac's Henry Napper (14) breaks ahead of the pack and lays it off the window for the score as the Spartans get the 61-44 victory. It would be the third game of the opening day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Saranac Spartans and the Peru Nighthawks would look up, and the Nighthawks would be looking for their first win of the season. It would be a close game at the start, as both teams feel each other out. The Spartans would have a slim 13-9 lead after the first quarter. The game would remain close through the second quarter as the Spartans would win the quarter 16-12 and take the 29-21 lead into the break. When the teams would return for the second half, they would find their offense and take control of the game with a 20-6 quarter and have a convincing 49-27 lead as they would enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would empty the bench and let the rest get in the game, and the Nighthawks would win the quarter 14-6, but it would not be enough as the Saranac Spartans would get the 5-41 victory. In the winning effort, the Saranac Spartans would go to 2-3 on the season as they will take on the Beekmantown on the second day as they go for the title. It would be time for some playoff basketball at Plattsburgh High as the Hornets would host long-time rival the #3 Peru Nighthawks in the semi-finals of the Section VII Class A Boy's Basketball Tournament with the winner getting the #1 Beekmantown Eagles at Clinton Community College on March 1st. The upset-minded Nighthhawks would get off to a good start and have the lead through the early stages of the game but the Hornets would find their shot and have the 21-20 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would start to pull away from the Nighthawks as they would have a 21-10 quarter and take the 42-30 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half and the third quarter the Hornets would stay hot as they would double up the Nighthawks with a 20-10 quarter and take a 60-40 lead into the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with a 20-14 quarter and secure the 80-54 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 15-6 on the season and meet with the Beekmantown Eagles for the Section VII Class A Boy's Basketball crown while the Peru Nighthawks season comes to an end at 3-18. It would be the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the opening game would see the Peru Nighthawks taking on the Seton Catholic Knights. The Nighthawks would start the game well and would be doubling up the Knights by the end of the first quarter with a 12-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would keep up the fight and keep it close as the Nighthawks would win the quarter but only 12-8 and take a 24-14 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the third quarter the offense for the Nighthawks would step up and they would start to pull away with a 17-6 quarter take a 41-20 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would do their best not to let the deficit get any worse as the Nighthawks would have a 14-12 quarter and secure the 55-32 win. In the winning effort, Kobe Harris would lead the way with 14 points as the Nighthawks would get their first win of the season and go to 1-4 on the season while the Knights fell to 1-5. Gallery

It would be the classic rivalry inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in Boy's Basketball action. Both teams were looking for their first win of the season inside the conference didn't make the competition any less exciting. It would start off great for the home Hornets as their offense was firing on all cylinders and would have a 24-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would be more equal although the Hornets would still be able to extend their lead with a 13-9 quarter and take a 37-19 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the offense for the Hornets would stay hot as they would have a 19-11 quarter and take the commanding lead into the 4th quarter at 56-30. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would take their foot off the gas as they would finish out the game with an 11-9 quarter for the Nighthawks but the Hornets would have a comfortable lead and get the 65-41 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 3-6 on the season as they travel to Ausable Valley on Friday as the Nighthawks fall to 1-9 on the season. Gallery
