Elegance Championship Weekend Day 2 @ Airborne Park Speedway September 28th 2024

Donovan Lussier (61) and Jordan Formwalt (24) battle for the lead on a restart late in the race Lussier would get the win in the end. It would be the second of the Elegance Coating Championship Weekend from the Airborne Park Speedway and the big race on the day would be the 100 lap 5 thousand to win for the Sportsman Modified and there would be 49 cars fighting for 1 of the 32 starting spots. Also on the card would be the 9th State Cannabis Renegades, Moore Recycling Mini Stocks, and the 500cc Mini Sprints. The first feature of the day would be the 500cc Mini Sprints and their ten-lap event. The early leader would be Jordan Zakrzewski but Raymond Hanson would come from his 6th starting spot and get the win over Destin St Clair and Jenna Zakrzewski. Then we would have the 9th State Cannabis Renegades for their 40-lap event. The early leader of the race would be Shawn Fountain but he would only have the lead till lap 5 when Josh Terry would take the lead and hold it till the end. Although it would not be without competition Shawn Duquette and Nathaniel Guay would be short on his feelings for the rest of the race. In the end, Josh Terry would get the win on the afternoon but Shawn Duquette would win the war and be crowned the 2024 track champion over Tylor Terry. Then we would have the Mini Stocks for their 20-lap event and Tyler Bell would have the lead for the first 2 laps. Then there would be a pass at the front and Josh Laporte would take the lead and have it til lap 6 and he would have the lead til lap 13. On lap 13 Laporte would take the lead back but in the end, Jason Porter would get the lead down the stretch and hold on for the win. Then it would be time for the big go the 100 laps for the Sportsman Modified with the 5k to the winner. The race would start with an accident going into turn 1 with three cars involved and Chris Cayea would end up on his side. When they restarted the race Travis Bruno would take the lead and have the lead for the first ten laps. On lap ten Donovan Lussier would take the lead and he would hold the lead for the next 90 laps. Still, it would not be without challenges as Travis Bruno, Fire Swamp, and Jordan Fornwalt would all take their shot at the top spot. Still, in the end, Donovan Lussier would hold on for his 9th win on the season, with Joey Scarbrough finishing 16th on the day Lussier would be crowned the 2024 track champion. Gallery

Elegance Championship Weekend Day 1 @ Airborne Park Speedway September 28th 2024

Kyle Hoard (76) on the bottom battles early with Yves Hamel (194) early in the Pro Stock feature that would see Kyle Hoard get the win on the afternoon. It would be the first day of the Elegance Coating Championship Weekend and there would be seven divisions in action with the Limited Sportsman Modified, 500cc Mini Sprints, Pro Stocks, Crown Vics, Sportsman Modified, Renegades, Mini Stocks along with the enduro racers there would be 115 racers in the pits plus another 49 enduro cars in action on the afternoon. Once the the heat racing was done it would be onto the features and the first one up would be the JS Steel Sportsman Modified nonwinners for 25 laps it would see Chris Cayea get the wire-to-wire win but it would not be without challenge as it would see him and Michael Wright battle for the lead most of the race. Then next up would be the 500cc Mini Sprints for their first segment of ten laps for the weekend and it would see a battle up front between Destin St Clair and Raymond Hanson but at the strip, it would be St. Clair by a car length. Then we would have the Pro Stocks for their 25 lap event and it would see Kyle Hoard start on the pole and hand his way to victory lane. Even though that would be the case it would not be without action on the track as it sees challenges from Bruno Cyr and Jonathan Levesque but they just wouldn't have enough on this day. Then it would be the return of the Crown Vics for their second-ever appearance at the track and it would see Chad Merrill start on the pole but he would be challenged by Eric Friend early in the race and would see Friend get the win over Matt Monaghan. Then we would have the Limited Sportsman Modified for there 25 lap event and Don Williams would get the early lead off the start of the race but he would be challenged by Caleb Durgan and he would get the lead late in the race and he would get his first career win and Logan Denis would round out the top three. Then we would have their Moore Recycling Mini Stocks for their pair of features in the a and b. We would start with the A Man for their 20-lap event and it would see Cory Collins get the early lead but it would be shortlived as Speedy Bressette would come up and take the lead. Although there would be a storm brewing in the back as Chris Clark would come from the 19th spot and take the lead and get the win and then in victory lane announce his retirement to the crowd. The winner of the B Main would be for the second time this season Jeremaih King would get to the checkered flag first. Then to finish off the night it would be the Enduro race for 50 laps that would see 49 cars take the green flag and the winner would be Brent Wilbur. The racing action will continue tomorrow with the season finale as the main event will be Sportsman Modified going 100 laps for five thousand dollars to win. Gallery

Lake Placid Blue Bombers @ Seton Catholic Knights September 27th 2024

Lake Placid's (19) with the defensive header as they keep their late game 1-0 lead. It would be the Lake Placid Blue Bombers and the Seton Catholic Knights in Mountain Valley Athletic Section VII Boy's Soccer action. The Seton Catholic Knights would play their first game at their new on-campus soccer field. It would be a tight game throughout the match as both teams would have their chance to get the match's opening goal. In the end, though the Blue Bombers would get the lone goal of the game in the 77th minute. With the win, the Blue Bombers would go to 2-3 season while the Knights fall to 1-4. Gallery

Moria Vikings @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 27th 2024

Plattsburgh's Dominic Deangelo (15), with the catch in the back of the endzone for the touchdown, gave the Hornets the 16-0 lead. It would be the fourth week of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football, and it would see the Plattsburgh Hornets hosting long-time hoe the Moriah Vikings from the high school complex. The game would start with upstart Hornets getting the first score of the game just 3:50 into the contest on the 12-yard strike to Braeden Calkins as the Hornets would take the early 8-0 lead. The Hornets wouldn't be done there, though, as they would take control of the game in the last 30 seconds of the first quarter when they would find Dominic Deangelo in the back of the end zone for a touchdown to give the Hornets a 16-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. There would be no scoring in the 2nd quarter, so the teams would head into the locker room at 16-0 Hornets, looking for the upset victory. When the teams return for the third quarter, it will be more of the same as there will be no scoring in the quarter, and the Hornets will take that two-score lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would take control of the game at the 4:00 mark on the quarterback sneak by Dan Hartman and take the 24-0 lead, and that's where the game would end. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 2-2 on the season as they will have a nonleague road against the Malone Huskies next weekend. As for the Moriah Vikings, they will fall to 1-2 on the season as they look to get back to 500 next week as they will take on the Ausable Valley Patriots. Gallery

Beekmantown Eagles @ Peru Nighthawks September 27th 2024

Beekmantown's Parker Broughton (33) breaks it up the middle for the big run as part of a two-score game. It would be the early season game in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference football season as the Beekmantown Eagles would travel to the Apple Bowl and take on the Peru Nighthawks as the classic rivalry would come again. The Eagles would get the game's opening score on the 56-yard run by Parker Broughton to get the scoring started. That game would stay till the second quarter when the Nighthawk would score 30 seconds in on the Trenton Taylor 18-yard touchdown to make it a 7-6 game. The Eagles would answer right back on their next drive on a 72-yard keeper by Josh Sands to give the Eagles the 14-6 lead. As time would expire in the 1st half, the Eagles would hit a 27-yard field goal by Patrick Hagadron to take the 17-6 lead into the break. The game would stay there till 10:43 of the third quarter when Josh Sands would have his second rushing touchdown of the day on the 29 yards, and the Eagles would take the 24-6 lead. Then, on their next drive, Parker Broughton would take off for 90 yards and score just 41 seconds into the 4th quarter to give them the 31-6 lead, and that's where the game would end. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles go to a 3-1 season as they will head to Saranac Lake next weekend and take on the Saranac Lake Red Storm. As for the Peru Nighthawks would fall to 1-2 season as they will hit the road next weekend against the Saranac Spartans. Gallery

Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 25th 2024

Plattsburgh's Katelyn McCormick (goalie) with the save as the attackers are coming down on the ball and at the time keeping the clean sheet. It would be Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh Athletic Complex as the Hornets would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game in the 15th minute mark from Olivia Lamountain for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 22nd minute when the Hornets would double up their lead at 2-0 on the Amaya Abellard goal. Then in the 30th minute, the Hornets would start to put their mark on the game with Amaya Abellard's second goal of the game and that's where the first half would end. When the teams returned for the 2nd half the Cougars defense would be better as they would keep trying to get on the board. Although just a minute in the Hornets would take the 4-0 lead on the Bailey Hewson goal. The Cougars would get on the board in the closing minutes of the game but by that point, the Hornets would have control and get the 4-1 win. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 6-1 on the season as the Cougars fall to 2-4 on the season. Gallery

R.P.I. Engineers @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 25th 2024

Plattsburgh State's Macie Bolton (13) breaks the play and goes on the attack with the step through on R.P.I.'s Sarah Sedlacek (2). It would be the fourth straight match for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's Soccer team against a Liberty League squad, and this time, they would get the R.P.I. Engineers. The game would go back and forth all night, and in the second half, the rain would come, and at times, it would be a tough rain. The Cardinals would have their chance in the first half to take the lead in the game, but the goal was called off on an offside. The game was starting to look like it would end in a zero-to-zero tie. The Engineers would keep coming, though, and with about 90 seconds left, they would find the back of the net on Sarah Sedlacek on her second goal of the season. The Cardinals would have no time to get the equalizer and would fall to 2-6 as they enter SUNYAC play this weekend as they take on the Morrisville State for the R.P.I. Engineers would improve their record to 5-1-1 on the season. Gallery

Onondaga Community College Lazers @ Clinton Community Cougars September 22nd 2024

Clinton Community College's Zamir Foster with the sliding saves with traffic around him as part of a 16 save afternoon although it was not enough as they would fall 7-1. It would be the final home game of the season for the Clinton Community College Cougars at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse as they would take on the 5-0-3 Onondaga Community College Lazers. The game would start well for the Lazers as they would score twice in the first five minutes from Josh Dabbiero and Kyle Partington for the early 2-0 lead. From there I thought the Cougar's defense would stand strong for the first half and that's where we would stand at the end of one. When the teams returned for the second half Kyle Partingtonfor the Lazers would score three straight goals in fourteen minutes to give the 5-0 lead. Then in the 70th minute, the Lazers would add another goal this time from Samuel Spicer, and take the 6-0 lead. Although a minute later the Cougars would finally get on the board and make it a 6-1 game on the Harvey Merrill goal. Then in the 88th minute, the Lazers would add another goal from Josh Dabbiero his second of the game as the Lazers secured the 7-1 victory. In the winning effort for the Lazers, they go to 6-0-3 on the season. As for the Cougar, Zamir Foster would make 16 saves on the evening but still fall to 1-7 on the season as they head out on the road next weekend to take on SUNY Niagra and Erie Community College. Anna Maria Amcats @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 21st 2024

Plattsburgh State's Darby Morillo (3) gets up and gets a finger tip block on the spike from the Anna Maria attacker. It would be the second of the day for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals on the Tri-Match day at home as they would take on the Anna Maria Amcats to decide who would be the better team of the three on the day. The match would start well for the home Cardinals as they would win the first game by a score of 25-8. In the second game, it would be more of the same for the Cardinals as they would win that as well cruising away with a 25-13 game. The third set would be harder though as it would come down to wire and the Cardinals would get the last 4 straight points to secure the 25-23 victory and the straight set victory and win both matches on the day to go to 3-9 on the season. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Iris Mulvey would lead the way with 15 points and 13 kills. They will look to continue their winning ways as they go on the road next weekend to take on the RIT Tigers and the St Lawerence Saints both matches at St Lawerence.Gallery

Suny Poly Wildcats @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 21st 2024

Plattsburgh State's Iris Mulvey (10) with the hard spike to the corner for one of her 11 points in the match. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have their first of two matches on the day as they would on the winless SUNY Poly from the Empire 8. The first game of the match would be a see-saw affair but the home Cardinals would come out on top in the end with a 25-21 win. In the second game, the Cardinals would have an easier go of it and would take the two sets to zero lead with a 25-11 victory. Then in the third set, the Cardinals would be able to handle their business and take the third game 25-14 win and get the straight-set victory. In their winning effort, Iris Mulvey would lead the way with 11 points and have 9 kills. They will take on the Anna Maria Amcats in their next match. Gallery

Fredonia State Blue Devils @ #17 Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 18th 2024

Plattsburgh State's Conner Howe (13) with the header on the cross attempt during the second half of the game with the Blue Devils trying to regain the two-goal lead. The #17 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up conference play at home against the Fredonia State Blue Devils on homecoming weekend with 200 fans in attendance. The home Cardinals would get the opening goal of the match in the 16th minute from John Hayes his eighth of the season to make it a 1-0 game. Then just four minutes later in the 20th minute the Cardinals would expand on the lead and make it a 2-0 game on Tristan Laundree's third of the season and that's where the game would stay til the teams entered the half. When the teams returned for the second half the Blue Devils would come out on fire and get on the board in the 51st minute on Frederick Butler's second goal of the season. From there though the Cardinals' defense would be in shutdown mode and they would hold on for the 2-1 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals goalkeeper would make 2 saves as they stayed undefeated at 6-0-2. The Cardinals will return home next weekend as they continue in conference play against the Morrisville State Mustangs. Gallery

Boquet Valley Griffins @ Seton Catholic Knights September 20th 2024

Boquet Valley's (8) with the turn and burn on Seton Catholic's (10) as he takes it from the defensive end and is on the attack. Section VII Boy's Soccer from St. Peter's Field would be Section VII Boy's Soccer as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Boquet Valley Griffins in Mountain Valley action. The Griffins would get the scoring going in the 4th minute of the game as they tucked it in the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Then in the 13th minute, the Griffins would keep the attack going and extend their lead to 2-0 on 10's goal. Then in the 25th minute, the Griffins would get one more from 7 to expand the lead to 3-0, where the first-half scoring would end. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same for the Griffins as they would add another three goals two from 14 and number 10 would add his second of the game as the Griffins would get the 6-0 victory. The Griffins would go to 1-3 in the winning effort as the Seton Catholic Knights would fall to 1-2 in the early season. Gallery

Massena Red Raiders @ Beekmantown Eagles September 20th 2024

Beekmantown's Shamus Bilbeau (1) hard charging through the would-be tacklers as he would have two touchdown runs on the evening as the Eagles would get the 52-0 win. It would be a nonsectional football action from the Beekmantown Sports Complex as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Massena Red Raiders in nonleague action. The scoring would start quickly for the Eagles as Shamus Bilbeau would score on a 23-yard run at the 3:30 mark of the first quarter to make it a 7-0 Eagles game. Then as time would expire in the first quarter Bilbeau would score again this time from 16 yards and make it 14-0 Eagles. In the second quarter, it would be more of the same as the Eagles would score twice on a 19-yard pass to Patrick Hagadorn in the back of the endzone along with a 5-yard run by Parker Broughton and they would take the 28-0 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles would pick up right where they left off as they would hit a 19-yard field goal and a 6-yard pass to Patrick Hagadorn for his second score of the game the Eagles would expand their lead to 38-0 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would add a pair of touchdowns from Blake Rock and George Ciolac as they would put the icing on a 52-0 win. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles go to 2-1 on the season as they head into their big rival game next weekend against the Peru Nighthawks as the Massena Red Raiders fall to 0-3 on the season. 358 Modified Champoionship Night @ Airborne Park Speedway September 19th 2024

Mike Mahaney (35) is crowned your 2024 358 Modified champion at the Airborne Park Speedway over Tim Fuller for the crown. It would be 35 Modified Championship night from the Airborne Park Speedway and the next to last race for all three other divisions for the night. After all the heat races were run it would be on to the features. The first feature of the night would be the Be Cool Heating and Air Condition 358 Modifieds for 30 laps and at the end there would be a championship decided. The leader of the start would be Jeremy Roy but that would be short-lived as the heavy hitters were coming from the middle of the pack eventually, Chris Raabe would get around him and take the lead and from there he would be off to get his second win of the season. As for the matter at hand with the championship, Mike Mahanney would finish 4th and Tim Fuller would be 7th clinching the 2024 track championship for Mike Mahanney and his first at the Airborne Park Speedway. Then next up would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and it would see Jamy Begor get the lead off the start and he would be out to a big lead but there would be charging Fire Swamp that was catching him in the closing laps for the lead. There would be a caution with about three laps to go and then the old aged would come up where cautions breed cautions. As we were on the third restart to get the last couple of laps. Then on the last lap that's when all hell would break loose as Fire Swamp and Jamy Begor would get together down the backstretch and Donovan Lussier would inherit the lead and get his 8th win of the season. Then next we would have the 9th State Cannabis Renegades for their 20-lap feature and it would see a battle up front behind Nathaniel Guay and Shawn Duquette and in the end it would be Guay getting his second win of the season. Then to finish off the night it would be Moore Recycling Mini Stocks with their pair of features. First up would be the A Main for 15 laps and would see rookie Cody Young lead the early part of the race but Steven Bressette would come up from the 7th spot and take the lead with 5 laps to go and hold for the win. Then in the B Feature, it would be Bill Doner with the wire-to-wire victory. Gallery

R.P.I. Engineers @ #17 Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 18th 2024

Plattsburgh State's Tristan Laundree (2) with the goal that he crosses to the far corner to give the Cardinals the 1-0 lead. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals Men's Soccer would return to the field house soccer complex for the first time in three weeks ranked 17th in the national and would play host to the R.P.I. Engineers from the Liberty League. The match would be tight through the first half as both teams would take their chance and get the opening goal of the match but that would not happen in the first half. The opening goal would finally come in the 61st minute when the Cardinals' Tristan Laundree would score from inside the 18-yard box. The Cardinals going off the adrenaline of the goal would add to their lead just 7 minutes later on the John Hayes goal in the 68th minute. From there, the Cardinal's defense would stand tall, not allow anything from the Engineers, and would get the 2-0 win. In the winning effort, Teddy Healy would get the shutout victory as they stay undefeated at 5-0-2 while the Engineers would fall to 2-4 on the season. The Cardinals will look to see if they can stay undefeated as they enter SUNYAC play Saturday against the Fredonia State Blue Devils. Gallery

Beekmanton Eagles @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 18th 2024

Plattsburgh's (3) rises above the rest at midfield and gets the head on the ball first. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host longtime rival the Beekmantown Eagles in Boy's Soccer action. It wouldn't take long for the Eagles to feel the string of the Hornets as (10) would get the opening goal of the game in the tenth minute. Then in the 21st minute of the game, the Hornets would be able to double their lead on (10) second goal as the Hornets take the 2-0 and hold it to the intermission break. When the teams returned the Hornets would be able to pick up where they left off and in the 45th minute, they would extend the lead to 3-0 on Nate Baker's (4) goal and make it a 3-0 lead. Then in the 59th minute, the Hornets (10) would complete his hat trick and take and give the Hornets the 4-0 lead and eventual win as the Hornets go to 2-1 on the season. Gallery

#6 Peru Nighthawks @ Beekmanton Eagles September 26th 2024

Peru's Jordan Osborne (10) chests the ball in past the Beekmantown netminder for the match's lone goal as the Nighthawks get the 1-0 victory. It would be Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer action from the Beekmantown Sports Complex. It would be a battle between a pair of Class A teams as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the #6 Peru Nighthawks the early season game might decide who is the #1 seed in the playoffs at the end of the season as they battle to get in the state playoffs. The Nighthawks would get the game's opening goal in the 12th minute from Jordan Osborne who chested it in past the Beekmantown netminder. As they would go through the rest of the half the Nighthawks would have their chance to extend the lead but the Eagles goaltender would make some great saves to keep his team in the game and that's where the second half would end. When the teams returned for the second half the Nighthawks would continue to control the game but the Eagles would have their chances to get the equalizer. The best chance would be right near the end of the game when they would send their keeper up to add an extra man as they try to get the tying goal he would get the header but it would go over the top as the Nighthawks would get the 1-0 win. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks would stay perfect on the season at 8-0 as they head into their next game against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. As for the Eagles, they would fall to 1-7 but will try and build on their effort in their next game. Gallery

Peru Nighthawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 17th 2024

Plattsburgh's Amaya Abellard (13) is on the attack from the corner, and Peru's Ava Miller (8) is on defense. We would have the crosstown rival game as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh High Sports Athletic Complex. The Nighthawks would not waste time getting the game's opening goal just three minutes in when Maggie Garrow struck the back of the net for the 1-0 lead early. Although, the Hornets would be able to get the equalizer later in the half to tie the game at one point to end the first half. The game would stay tied until the 53rd minute when Amaya Abellard would score to give the Hornets the lead, and from there, they would hold on for the victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would stay perfect on the season and go to 4-0, while the Nighthawks fall to 1-2. Gallery

Beekmanton Eagles @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 23rd 2024

The Plattsburgh Hornets celebrate their five-game winner over the Beekmantown Eagles and stay undefeated on the season. It would be a battle of a pair of undefeated volleyball squads from the Plattsburgh High Gym in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball action in front of a packed house. It would be a great match from start to finish. The first game would be a see-saw affair, with the Eagles getting it at 25-21. In the second game, it would be more of the same, but it would see the Hornets get out to a 23-17 lead, but the Eagles would go on a run to tie it at 23, and then they would need a volleyball version of overtime to get a winner as the Hornets take the second game 28-26. Then it would be onto game three, and with them splitting the first two, it has become a best of three, so this would be a vital same, and once again, it would come down to the end, and the Hornets would take the game 25-23 and take the 2-1 sets lead. Then it would be onto elimination game four, and the Eagles were not about to fly away without a fight. They would take it to the Hornets in game four by winning it 25-20 to force the deciding game five. In game five, though, it seemed the Eagles had run out of steam as the Hornets would take the game away with a 15-8 win and get the match won at 3-2. In the winning effort, the Hornets would stay undefeated at 4-0 on the season while the Eagles fall to 4-1. Gallery

Saranac Lake Red Storm @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 17th 2024

Platsburgh's Essynce Gorham (14) gets low to get the ball and set up for the spike. The season may be still early but it would be a battle of unbeaten at Plattsburgh High Gym as the Saranac Lake Red Storm and the Plattsburgh Hornets would look to 3-0 on the early. The first game of the night would be super competitive as there would be multiple lead changes throughout but in the end the Hornets would take game 1 25-18. In the second game, the Hornets would come out and take the early big lead and hold it from there even through a mid-set run by the Red Storm but the Hornets would get the 25-11 win. The times would go to the third and the Hornets would look to stay perfect on the season as they would take on the Lake Placid Blue Bombers. As for the Red Storm, they will look to restart their winning streak as they host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on September 19th. Gallery

Moriah Vikings @ Seton Catholic Knights September 17th 2024

Moriah's Amelia Kazlo (5) battles for the ball in the box with Seton Catholic's (8) as Kazlo would have six goals on the afternoon. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Soccer from St. Peters Church as the host Seton Catholic Knights would take on the Moriah Vikings. This would be a game that the Vikings would be in control of from start to finish. The Vikings would be throttled down in the first half as they would light the lamp seven times in the half Amelia Kazlo would score four times in the half, and Emma Harrington would get one. Then when the teams returned for the second half the Vikings would take their foot off the gas as they got three goals in the half Amelia Kazlo would have a couple more to finish with 6 goals on the day and the Vikings would hold on for the 10-0 win as they go to Vikings would go to 3-0 on the season and the Knights fall to 0-3 on the season. Chateaugay Bulldogs @ Peru Nighthawks September 16th 2024

Peru's Evan Patrie (6) and Chateagay's Ethan Vincent (16) they battle for the ball and position along the sides in the Nighthawks attack area. It would be a nonsectional boy's soccer game from the Peru High School Soccer Field as the Peru Nighthawks would host perennial class D-ranked Chayeaugay Bulldogs. The Nighthawks would get the opening goal of the game from Nick Petro to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Nighthawks would keep coming and get a second goal in the first half on a penalty kick from Seanan Edwards to give them the 2-0 lead in the 34th minute and that's where the first half would end. When the teams came back for the second half there would be no give in the Bulldogs and would keep up the physical play but in the 46th minute, the Nighthawks would extend the lead to 3-0 on Seanan Edwards's second goal of the game. The Nighthawks would keep their foot on the gas and would make it a 4-0 game in the 53rd minute on the Jordan Osborne goal. Then with five minutes left in the game, the Nighthawks would put the icing on the cake as Hayden Lozier would score to secure the 5-0 win. The Nighthawks would extend their perfect record to 5-0 as they will be back in action on September 18th against the Saranac Spartans. As for the Chateaugay Bulldogs, they will fall to 1-2 on the season and will look to get back to 500 in their next contest. Gallery

North Country Community College Saints @ Clinton Community Cougars September 15th 2024

Clinton Community College's Harvey Merrill (2) and North Country Community College's Elijah White (27) battle for the ball along the end lines as the Cougars try to keep the attack going. We would have NJCAA Region III Men's Soccer from the Plattsburgh State Field House as the Clinton Community College Cougars would host the North Country Community College Saints as they would be benefiting the American Cancer Society. Both teams would come into the game looking to right their early season woes and get back on the right track. The Cougars would get the game's opening goal as Ben Burdo would give them the 1-0 lead 11 minutes in. The Saints would not let that get them down as they would keep fighting and Jon Snell would score on the penalty kick in the 22nd minute to tie the game up at one. The Cougars would be relentless though and not give up as they would keep coming and be able to retake the one-goal lead at 2-1 on the Cyle Marshall goal and that would end the scoring for the first half. The Cougars would come out of the locker room on fire as they would have the rare lead to start the half and they would answer with Ben Burdo's second goal of the game in the 61st minute to expand their lead to 3-1. Although the Saints would not give up they would keep fighting back and make it a one-goal game again in the 74th minute as Jon Snell would get his second goal of the game and make it a 3-2 game. The Cougars would not be throwing off their game answer right back 2 minutes later and regain their goal lead at 4-2 on Ben Burdo's hat trick goal and from there the Cougars would hold on for the win and their first of the season at 4-2. In the winning effort, Zamir Foster would make 6 saves as they go to 1-5 on the season. As for the North Country Community College Saints, Marc Bechard would make ten saves on the day but it would not be enough as they fell to 0-5 on the season. Clarkson Golden Knights @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 18th 2024

Plattsburgh State's Leah Warren (11) with the score for the scoring chance as the Cardinals go for their first goal of the match. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's Soccer would be hosting their third straight opponent from the Liberty League at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Complex against the Clarkson Golden Knights. Then Golden Knights would get the opening goal of the match in the 30th minute from Maddie Lopol to give the Golden Knights the 1-0 lead on the penalty kick and that's where the first half would end. When the teams returned for the second half they would go back and forth as the Cardinals would try and get the equalizer but in the 60th minute, the Golden Knights would expand their lead to 2-0 on Brooke Butler's second goal of the season. Then in the 75th minute, the Golden Knights would put the game on ice as they added their third goal to give them a 3-0 lead on the Ema Robinson goal her fourth of the season. That would do it for the scoring on the day as the Clarkson Golden Knights would get the 3-0 win and go to 3-3 on the season as the Cardinals fall to 1-5. As for the Cardinals, they will be back in action Saturday as they travel to Fredonia to take on the Blue Devils in their first conference test of the season. Gallery

R.I.T Tigers @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 14th 2024

Plattsburgh State's Claire Bottjer (3) and R.I.T.'s Jessie Gomez (3) battle for the loose ball just out of the 18-yard box as the Cardinals look to attack. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host their second straight Liberty League foe at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Complex. It would be a very evenly played game with both teams having their scoring chance. In the end, though there would only be one game scored on the afternoon tilt as R.I.T.'s Elena Onodera would get the lone goal of the game and fourth of the early season in the 50th minute of the game. In the winning effort for the Tigers their pair of goalies would have the clean sheet. As for the Cardinal's netminder, she would make 8 saves on the day and do her best to keep their team in the game. The Cardinals will be back in action Wednesday, September 18th as they will have their third straight Liberty League foe in the Clarkson Golden Knights. Gallery

It would be a nonsectional game today at the Plattsburgh High Sports Complex as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Brushton-Moria Panthers in Boy's Soccer action. This would be a game that the Hornets would be in control from the opening kick of the game as they would put up a seven spot in the first half to take control of the game In the second half it would be more of the same as they would add another three markers in the half to help them secure the victory on the afternoon and go to 2-1 on the early season. Saranac Spartans @ Beekmantown Eagles September 13th 2024

Beekmantown's Shamus Bilbeau (1) breaks through the tackle of Saranac's Jack Lachre (51) as he gets the first down and has two scores on the night. It would be the second week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season. Still, it would be the first conference game for both teams as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Saranac Spartans as they were both looking to get their conference season going right off the back. The Eagles would control the ball for most of the first quarter and would get the opening score of the game at the 10:37 mark of the quarter on a 5-yard run by Parker Broughton for the 8-0 Eagles lead. The Eagles would waste little time getting the ball back and marching it down the field as Parker Broughton would score again this time on a 47-yard strike to give the Eagles the 15-0 lead just 1:25 into the second quarter. Then with just over three minutes left in the half, the Eagles would break the game open on a 93-yard pass and catch to Patrick Hagadorn for the 22-0 Eagles lead and that's where they would end the first half. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same as the Eagles would stay on the gas and extend the lead to 29-0 at the midway mark of the third period on the short run by Shamus Bibeau. The game would stay there till the 3:43 mark of the fourth quarter when Shamus Bibeau would score again on the short run to give the Eagles the 35-0 lead and victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles go to 1-1 on the season as they will host the Massena Red Raiders next week in non-conference action. As for the Saranac Spartans, they will head home for their home opener against the Moriah Vikings as they look to shake their 0-2 start. Gallery

Peru Nighthawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 20th 2024

Peru's Trent Taylor (15) wth the sliding tackle on Plattsburgh's Braeden Calkins (12) to keep him the first down. It would be week three of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference football season and we would have a matchup inside the Class B division as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks. The offenses would be displayed for both teams during the game as the teams would combine for five first-quarter touchdowns with Sawyer Schlitt getting a couple for the Nighthawks and Deangelo having one for the Hornets and the defense for the Nighthawks defense would get involved in the scoring as Elliott Supely would have an interception for a touchdown as the Nighthawks would have a 20-14 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Nighthawk offense would stay hot as they would have three more scores and Sawyer Schillt would add another score as they would have a 39-14 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the defenses would seem to find their footing. There would only be one score in the third quarter when Hornets Dan Hartman would scramble for the Hornets touchdown and make it a 39-22 game as they would enter the third quarter. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would add a pair of touchdowns to put the icing on the cake led by a Brody O'Connell sneak as the Nighthawks get the 54-22 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks go to 1-1 on the season as they will have their home opener against the Beekmantown Eagles next Friday night. The Plattsburgh Hornets fall to 1-2 on the season as they will stay at home next week and welcome the Moriah Vikings to the complex. Gallery

Sportsman Modified Twin 20s @ Airborne Park Speedway September 12th 2024

J+S Steel Sportsman Modified Jonathan Toohill (2jt) and Beau Reeves (00) battle for the lead in the first of the twin 20s that would end up seeing Beau Reeves get around for his first win of the season. Airborne Park Speedway would be entering its last three weeks of the racing season for 2024 and the main event of the evening would be Twin 20 lappers for the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified. The first feature of the night would be the first of the twin 20s and there would be 22 cars that would take the green flag the winner on the night would be Beau Reeves for the first win of the season after a good battle up front between him and Joey Scarbrough and then Evan Roberts would finish out the top three. Then we would have the 358 Modified feature after the intermission break and it would see Tanner Siemons lead 90 percent of the race until a late race caution would bunch the field back up. The restart would see Mike Mahaney come from the second row like he was shot out a cannon take the lead and get his second straight win of the season. Then we would have the second J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and it would see Bucko Branham get the lead at the start of the race. Although the challengers would be coming they won't have far to come as Donovan Lussier and Nick Heywood who started 4th and 5th would soon be there battling with Branham for the win and in the end Donovan Lussier would get his seventh win of the season and close the gap on points leader Joey Scarbrough. Then we would have the 9th State Cannabis Renegades for 20 laps affair and it would see Richie Turner get the early lead of the race but the top point men would be coming from mid-pack and make their presents known at the front. At the end of the night, it would be a battle up front between Shawn Duquette and Tylor, and on this night Duquette would get the better of Terry and extend that points lead to 16 points. Then to finish off the night it would be the A and B Main's for the Moore Recycling Mini Stocks and it would see Jeremiah King start on the front row and have an early race battle with Jason Bradley but after a few laps, he would gap the filled. There would be challengers coming from back in the back as Ryan Senecal started ninth and came up there but would have nothing for King on this night as he would earn his first career victory and Jake Fountain would come from 13th to finish off the top three. Then to finish off the night it would be the B Main for the Mini Stocks and for the second week in a row, it would see Tyler Bell get the early lead but the car would just lose power and Kyle Botala would cruise around him for the lead and get the B Main win. Skidmore Throughbreeds @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 11th 2024

Plattsburgh State's Lauren Haley (1) with the fingertip save on the shot from Skidmore's Addie Dring (25) as part of a seven-save night. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's Soccer would open up the home portion of their season against the Skidmore Thoroughbreds in front of a crowd of just over 200 people for the nonconference midweek tilt. The game would remain scoreless through the first of the game but that would not be without both teams having their chances to get the opening goal of the game but the goalkeepers would be up to the task. The Thoroughbreds would get the opening goal of the game just 2 minutes into the second half when Ella Stone broke through for the opening goal of the game. The Thoroughbreds would keep the gas pedal and would double their lead to 2-0 just five minutes later with Ella Stone's second score of the game. Then in the 62nd minute of the game, the Thoroughbreds would take control of the game as Ella Stone would add her third goal of the game and put a stranglehold on the Cardinals. The Cardinals would not go quietly though as they would keep fighting for the last 28 minutes of the game but they would be unable to find the back of the net for the score as Skidmore would get the 3-0 victory. In the winning effort, Skidmore goes to 4-0-1 on the season while the Cardinals fall to 1-3 as Lauren Haley would make seven saves on the night. Plattsburgh's Essynce Gorham (14) with the spike down the line for the score. It would be the season opener for both the Plattsburgh Hornets and Northeastern Clinton Cougars from Plattsburgh High School in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference. It might have been the season opener for the Hornets they looked like they were in mid-season form as they would dispense of the Cougars in just 45 minutes 25-6, 25-2, and 25-7. It would be a pair of eighteens going after the loose ball at midfield. It would be an early-season matchup in Section VII Girl's Soccer. We would have an interconference affair from St. Peter's in Plattsburgh as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Ticonderoga Sentinels in action. The Sentinels would start hot and have the 4-0 lead after the first half of play. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same for the Sentinels as they would add another six goals and cruise to the 10-0 victory. In the victory for the Sentinels, they would have three players that would have multi-goal games as they would even up their record at 1-1 while the Knights would start their season at 0-1. Gallery

Saranac Lake's Gracen Foster (13) with the spike over the Nighthawks net player for the Red Storm point. It would be the opening match of the season for both the Peru Nighthawks and the Saranac Lake Red Storm in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball action from Peru. It might have been the first of the season but it might have been a candidate for match of the season as it would go all give sets including the fourth one going to a 26-24 for the Red Storm. In the end, the Red Storm would just be too much on this day for the home Nighthawks as the Red Storm go to 1-0 while the Nighthawks fall to 0-1 on the season. Gallery

Cayuga Community Spartans @ Clinton Community Cougars September 8th 2024

Clinton's Zamir Foster (GK) comes out and makes the sliding save on the shot attempt by Cayuga's Bigad Sid. The Cliton Community College Cougars would take the pitch at their new home the SUNY Plattsburgh Field House as they would host the Cayuga Community College Spartans in an NJCAA Division III Region III game. The match would not start very well for the home Cougars as they would be behind 3-0 in the first 15 minutes of the game. The half would not improve in the last 30 minutes as they would give up another two goals and trail by a score of 5-0 after the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, the game would not get any better for the home Cougars as they would give up another 7 goals in the half, lose the game 12-0, and fall to 0-4 on the season. The bright spot for the Cougars would be Zamir Foster as he would have double-digit saves on the day The Cougars will be back in action on September 15th as they will host the North Country Community College Saints. Granville/Whitehall Golden Horde @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 7th 2024

Granville/Whitehall team defense was on display all game long as they would get the sack of Plattsburgh's Dan Hartman (11). It would be the opening weekend of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Football season and it would see an intersectional matchup between the host Plattsburgh Hornets from Section VII and the visiting Granville/Whitehall Golden Horde from Section II from Plattsburgh High School. The game would start well for the visiting Golden Horde as they would take the 6-0 lead just 90 seconds into the game on a 2-yard run by the running back. They would answer again just over halfway through the quarter to extend their lead to 14-0 on their second running touchdown. The Hornets would keep fighting and they would get on the board in the closing minutes of the second quarter when they would connect with Braeden Calkins for the touchdown reception making it a 14-6 game as they ended the first half. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be the tale of two halves as the rain would start to fall on the game and slow down the offense. The Golden Horde would be able to get through the raindrops, get a score, and make it a 20-6 game as they would enter the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Golden Horde would be able to catch their footing in the weather as they added two more touchdowns as they would secure the 34-6 victory. In the winning effort, the Golden Horde would start their season off 1-0 as they enter section II play against Warrensburg/Lake George. As for the Plattsburgh Hornets fall to 0-1 as they will take on the Ausable Valley Patriots who will both be looking to get their first win of the season. Gallery

Mechanic Night at Airborne Park Speedway September 4th 2024

Tim Fuller (19) and Steve Bernier (25) battle for the lead in the Small Block Modified Main event in the closing laps that would see Fuller get the win for the third time this season. So the race season has reached the final month of the season and the points races are all tight among the four divisions as they are coming down the stretch as all four divisions would be in action on mechanics night. After all the heat races were completed first up would be the Small Block Modifieds for their 30-lap event. The race would start with Jordan Formwalt getting the lead in the third starting spot off the start of the race. He would have the lead first the first few laps until Steve Bernier would slice his way to the front of the pack. He would hold the lead for the next 10-15 laps but it would not come without a challenge as Tim Fuller would come up and battle for the lead and they would go side by side for a few laps until Fuller would use the lap traffic to get around for the lead and hold on for his third win on the season but he would only gain 4 points on points leader Mike Mahanney who would round out the top three with Steve Bernier. Then we would have the JS Steel Sportsman Modified for their 30-lap event and that would start with a bang as there would be a multi-car incident in turn 1 of the opening lap when Jonathan Toohill and Eric Shaw and it would turn into a Walmart parking lot. After the clean-up and restart, there would be a battle up front between Caleb Durgan and Michael Wright for the top spot that would eventually see Michael Wright take the lead. He would hold the lead until just over the midway mark when Travis Bruno would come up and challenge him for the lead and take it on lap 16. Travis Bruno would be out in the lead and he would probably start to think that the race was his until he noticed that Donovan Lussier would be getting bigger in his rearview mirror with two laps to go Lussier would get around him for the lead and win to get his division-leading sixth win of the season as Travis Bruno and Caleb Durgan would round out the top three. Then next we would have the ninth state cannabis Renegades for their 20-lap event The early lead of the race would be Richie Turner until lap seven when he would spin out in turn 1 on the top of three-wide racing. Josh Terry would then inherit the lead and hold it till there were five to go when he would get passed by his brother Tylor Terry. Then the battle would be on upfront between the top two in the points as Tylor Terry and Shawn Duquette would duke it out for the win but the win would go to Tylor Terry for the seventh time in the division this season as Nathaniel Guay and Shawn Duquette would round out the top three. Then we would have the Moore Recycling Mini Stocks in their A and B Main to finish of the night To start the A Main the early leader would be Joe Warren but it will be short-lived as he will only have the lead for 2 laps. As the cagey venture, Josh Laporte would get around him for the lead and would hold it til lap eight. From there the young Cale Manor would get the lead and he would hold on for his first career win over Josh Laporte and Rick Doner. As for the B Main, it would be a wire-to-wire win for Cody Young to finish off the night. The racetrack will be back in action next Thursday night September 12th as they continue the championship battle. Gallery

Fabian Earth Moving Vermont 200 Day #2 @ Devils Bowl Speedway September 1st 2024

Matt Janczuk (33) and Chad Edwards (10%) battle for the lead off-turn four as they go after the lead with about 25 laps to go and in the end the win would go to Matt Janczuk. It would be the second day of the Fabian Earth Moving Vermont 200 Weekend and it would see the Sportsman Modified, Novice Sportsman Modified, and the 500cc Mini Sprints in action in front of a packed house of fans that have been there all weekend alone. We would have 72 Sportsman Modified battling for the 10k first-place check by being the winner of the Vermont 200. First, they would have to qualify for the 34-car field. The first step in the process would be time trials and the fast time would be James Friesen with a 19.488. Then it would be on to 6 heat races to start setting the lineup for the 200 and the winners would be Dave Camara, Frank Hoard III, Matt Janczuk, Kevin Chaffee, Zach Sobotka, and Troy Audet. Then we would have three Consi races to set the middle part of the field and the winners would be Brent Warren, Richard Murtaugh, and Shawn McPhee. Then to finish off the lineup for the field would be a pair of B Mains Jason Gray and Brian Calabrese and now the field of 34 would be set. Before we get to the Fabian Earth Moving Vermont 200, there would be a couple of other mains that would need to be dealt with first: the 500cc Mini Sprints and the Novice Sportsman Modified. First up would be the 500cc Mini Sprints for ten laps and the battle would be on upfront between Destin St. Clair and Quinn Quenneville when the checkered flag flew the win would go to Destin St. Clair as he would get his first career win. Then we would have the future stars of the Sportsman Modified division with the Novice racers in there 25 lap feature Josh Bussino would get the lead off the start but it would not be without challenge from Logan Denis as they would go after the win and the end it would be Josh Bussino getting the checkered. Then it would be time for the weekend's main event: the Faian Earth Moving Vermont 200 race for the 10k first-place check and the granted start in the end-of-season race at Bridgeport Speedway. The race would start with Matt Janczuk and Frank Hoard III on the front row and the early lead would go to Janczuk as they went after the lead for the first twenty laps. Then there would be a new player going after the lead with Bubba McPhee from like lap 40 to 110 but Janczuk would hold onto the lead. Then we would have Dominic Roselli going after the lead as he had charged his way up from his 24th starting spot and go after the lead for the next 40 laps til lap 150 when he would make a pit stop. Then Janczuk would get his biggest challenge of the night from Chris Edwards who would get around him and take the lead for about ten laps. Then to finish off the night Janczuk would have a pair of challengers in the likes of Josh Sunn and Dominic Roselli but in the end, Janczuk would get the win and collect the ten thousand dollar check for the second year in a row with Sunn and Roselli rounding out the top three.
