Section VII Football Class B Semi-Finals: #3 Plattsburgh Hornets @ #2 Peru Nighthawks November 1st 2024
Peru's Jake Frechette (7) splits through the defense and gains the first down. It would be the lone section vii football gamer of the weekend as the #2 Peru Nighhawks would host the #3Plattsburgh Hornets in Class B semi-finals as the winner would get the #1 Beekmantown Eagles the next weekend at Plattsburgh High School with a title on the line. The Nighthawks would get the game's opening points halfway through the first quarter in an unusual way with a safety and take the 2-0 lead. The Nighthawks would then add a touchdown two minutes later from Elijah Hendricks on the 12-yard pass and take the 9-0 lead. The game would stay there till the six-minute mark of the second when Wyatt Bridges would score from 2 yards out to take a 16-0 lead. Then, with three minutes left in the half, the Hornets would get on the board with a two-yard run from Dan Hartman to make it a 16-6 game, and that's where we would enter the half. When we returned for the third quarter, the Nighthawks would stay on the pedal when Wyatt Bridges would get the 16-yard score 4 minutes in and extend their lead to 23-6. The Hornets would answer back with three minutes left in the third quarter when Jahvari Anderson would score on the 26-yard pass reception to make it a 23-12 game. The Nighthawks would answer back 30 seconds into the 4th quarter when Wyatt Bridges would score from 19 yards out and make it a 30-12 game. Then, to finish off the game, Wyatt Bridges would score again 4th on the night, this time from 29 yards out, to secure the 37-12 victory. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 8: Plattsburgh Hornets @ Saranac Lake Red Storm October 25th 2024
With the catch in traffic, Saranac Lake's Scott Nicholas (10) would lead to a Red Storm touchdown. It would be the final of the season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference, and the Plattsburgh Hornets would travel to Saranac Lake and take on the Red Storm in what might be the final game ever played at the Wilson Raymon field as they are supposed to have a brand new turf field at the high school next season. The Hornets would get the lone score of the first quarter from Danny Hartman on 21 21-yard run to give the Hornets the 7-0 lead. The Red Storm would return and get on the board on a 3-yard run by Zac Goetz, making it a 7-6 game. The Hornets would answer back with 1:07 left in the half on a 16-yard strike to Dominic Deangelo and take the 13-6 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the second half, the offense on both sides would pick up as the Hornets would strike first on the 12-yard run by Danny Hartman and take the 19-6 lead at the 3:54 mark. The Red Storm would come back down the field and make it a 19-13 game at the 6:14 mark of the third quarter. The offense would stay hot for the Hornets as they would make it a 25-13 game at the 9:57 mark of the third quarter when they would hit Ryan Coulburn on the 79-yard pass and catch, and that's how the quarter would end. Then, just 39 seconds into the 4th quarter, the Hornets would score again on the Bryan Kemokai run to make it a 31-13 game. The Red Storm would come back on the next drive and keep themself in the game on a 5-yard run by David Montroy to make it a 31-19 game with over seven minutes left. The Red Storm would keep coming, and with 1:54 left in the game, it would make it a 31-25 game as Zack Goetz would score on the keeper. From there, the Hornets would finish off the game and get the win as they go to 5-3 on the season. They will take on the Peru Nighthawks in the Section Class B Semi-Finals next Friday night. As for the Saranac Lake Red Storm, they would fall to 4-3 and will get a bye week as they take on the Saranac Spartans on November 9th to decide the Section VII Class C crown. Gallery

It would be a battle of the top two teams in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference during week #7 as the #25 Beekmantown Eagles would host the Plattsburgh Hornets. The Eagles would get off to a fast start just 2:12 into the game on a 34-yard run by Shamus Bilbeau to give the 7-0 lead. Then, three minutes later, the Eagles would strike again, this time on a Parker Broughton score from 14 yards out and take the 14-0 lead. Then, in the final minute of the quarter, Parker Broughton would score again, this time from 39 yards out, and take the 20-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Hornets would answer back 24 seconds into the second quarter on an 85-yard catch and run to Dominic Deangelo to make it a 20-8 game. However, the Eagles would answer right back 30 seconds later on a 50-yard pass and catch to Parker Broughton for his third score of the half as they made it a 28-8 game. Then, just over five minutes into the second quarter, Miguel Herrera was on the 1-yard score. The Eagles would end the scoring in the first half on a 30-yard pass to Patrick Hagadorn with seconds left to take the 41-8 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, the Eagles would pick up right where they left off as they would score just 2:15 into the quarter on a 13-yard run from Parker Broughton for his fourth score and make it a 48-8 game. Danny Hartman would be intercepted on the issuing Hornets drive, and Seth Beebee would bring it back for the score and make it a 55-8 game. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would get their second score of the game coming from George Dejesus to make it a 55-16 game, and that's where the game would end. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles would go to 6-1 on the season and finish off their season next weekend at Ausable Valley as they have clinched the regular season title. A pair of Ausable Valley defenders bring down Peru's Landon Wilkins (32) short of the first down. It would be week 7 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season, and the Peru Nighthawks would host the Ausable Valley Patriots on the Nighthawk's senior night. The Nighthawks would take the early lead in the game at 7-0 on the 4-yard rush by Chase Carpenter 2 minutes into the game. Then, to finish the quarter, the Nighthawks would add two rushing touchdowns to give them the 21-0 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Nighthawks continued their success and added a pair of touchdowns from Chase Carpenter and Jake Frechette, who took the 34-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Nighthawks would stay hot and expand their lead to 41-0 on the Owen Smith 1-yard run. Then, in the fourth quarter, the Patriots would break through and get on the board as they connected on a 74-yard pass to Lucas Dashnaw and got the two-point conversion to make it a 41-8 game, and that's where the scoring would end. With the win, the Nighthawks go to 4-2 in the season as they enter the season finale next week against the Moriah Vikings. The game would start slow, with no scoring in the first quarter. The Spartans would get the game's opening score 32 seconds into the second quarter on a River Poulin 9-yard run for the 6-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 9:14 mark of the quarter when the Hornets would block the Spartan's punt attempt, and it would roll out the back of the endzone for the Hornet's safety, making it a 6-2 game. Then, in the final 30 seconds of the half, the Hornets would take the lead on a 29-yard strike to Braeden Calkins and take the 8-6 lead to the locker room. The Spartans would not go quietly and retake the lead at 14-8 on a 1-yard run by River Poulin to take the lead 14-8 at the 2:11 mark. Then, at the 6:11 mark of the third quarter, the Spartans would extend their lead to 22-8 on the 2-yard run by Zack Lucia. In the closing minutes of the third, the Hornets would cut the lead in half on the Dominic Deangelo score to make it 22-16 game.
