Section VII Football Class C Finals: #1 Saranac Lake Red Storm Vs. #2 Saranac Spartans November 8th 2024
Saranac's River Poulin (30) splits the defenders for the big gain and the first down. It would be the battle of the Saranacs once again for the Section VII Class C Championship from the Beekmantown High School for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament. The game would start with the Red Storm jumping out to a quick 13-0 lead, but the Spartans would come back with a couple of scores of their own as they would take the 14-13 lead into the locker room at the half. When the teams return for the second half, it will be a back-and-forth game, but neither team will be able to get any separation. The Spartans would score in the game's closing minute to take the 30-22 lead. The Red Storm would thunder down the head, and they would get the touchdown. Knowing that they needed the two to two tie the game, they would take their quarterback on the sweep, Zack Goet, but they would come up just short, and the Spartans would get the 30-28 victory. In the winning effort, the Spartans go to 3-6 on the season as they will head to section x next week for their state game. As for the Saranac Lake, Red Storm would end their season at 4-4. Gallery

#1 Saranac Lake Red Storm Vs #2 Saranac Spartans November 9th 2024
The Saranac Spartans would be crowned the 2024 Section VII Class C Champions with their 30-28 victory over the Saranac Lake Red Storm. It would be the battle of the Saranacs once again for the Section VII Class C Championship from the Beekmantown High School for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament. The game would start with the Red Storm jumping out to a quick 13-0 lead, but the Spartans would come back with a couple of scores of their own as they would take the 14-13 lead into the locker room at the half. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 6: Saranac Spartans @ Plattsburgh Hornets October 12th 2024

It would be week 6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Spartans as part of their homecoming weekend and their last home game of the regular season. The game would start slow, with no scoring in the first quarter. The Spartans would get the game's opening score 32 seconds into the second quarter on a River Poulin 9-yard run for the 6-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 9:14 mark of the quarter when the Hornets would block the Spartan's punt attempt, and it would roll out the back of the endzone for the Hornet's safety, making it a 6-2 game. Then, in the final 30 seconds of the half, the Hornets would take the lead on a 29-yard strike to Braeden Calkins and take the 8-6 lead to the locker room. The Spartans would not go quietly and retake the lead at 14-8 on a 1-yard run by River Poulin to take the lead 14-8 at the 2:11 mark. Then, at the 6:11 mark of the third quarter, the Spartans would extend their lead to 22-8 on the 2-yard run by Zack Lucia. In the closing minutes of the third, the Hornets would cut the lead in half on the Dominic Deangelo score to make it 22-16 game. The game would stay there till the 5:48 mark of the fourth when Dominic Deangelo would score again, this time on a 56-yard pass and catch to make it a 22-22 game coming down the stretch. Then, with 12 seconds left in the game, the Hornets would drive down, hit Braeden Calkins for the 2-yard pass, and get the 28-22 victory. In the winning effort, the Plattsburgh Hornets go to 4-2 on the season as they head into their road game against the Beekmantown Eagles next weekend. Saranac's Branigan Boulds (10) watches the ball into the hands for the catch and big play for the Spartans. It would be the second week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season. Still, it would be the first conference game for both teams as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Saranac Spartans as they were both looking to get their conference season going right off the back. The Eagles would control the ball for most of the first quarter and would get the opening score of the game at the 10:37 mark of the quarter on a 5-yard run by Parker Broughton for the 8-0 Eagles lead. The Eagles would waste little time getting the ball back and marching it down the field as Parker Broughton would score again this time on a 47-yard strike to give the Eagles the 15-0 lead just 1:25 into the second quarter. Then with just over three minutes left in the half, the Eagles would break the game open on a 93-yard pass and catch to Patrick Hagadorn for the 22-0 Eagles lead and that's where they would end the first half. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same as the Eagles would stay on the gas and extend the lead to 29-0 at the midway mark of the third period on the short run by Shamus Bibeau. The game would stay there till the 3:43 mark of the fourth quarter when Shamus Bibeau would score again on the short run to give the Eagles the 35-0 lead and victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles go to 1-1 on the season as they will host the Massena Red Raiders next week in non-conference action. As for the Saranac Spartans, they will head home for their home opener against the Moriah Vikings as they look to shake their 0-2 start.Gallery

It would be the second week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season. Still, it would be the first conference game for both teams as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Saranac Spartans as they were both looking to get their conference season going right off the back. NYSPHSAA Class C First Round: #18 Gouverneur Wildcats Vs #14 Saranac Spartans November 11th 2023
Gouverneur's (24) with the leaping catch on the wheel play for the first down. It would be the opening Round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Football Tournament and it would feature the #14 Saranac Spartans hosting the #18 Gouverneur Wildcats from Plattsburgh High School in the North Country Super Bowl for the right to head to the quarterfinals and meet up with a team from Section II. It would be a defensive first half and the teams would be looking for the first score of the game. The Spartans would break through with the first score of the game with 28 seconds left in the half on the Zander Daniels 7-yard pass strike to give the Spartans the 7-0 lead as they ended the first half. The game would stay there till the opening minute of the fourth quarter when Nathan Hamel would hit a 32-yard field goal to take the 10-0 lead. The Wildcats would get on the board finally at the 5:37 mark of the quarter on the Raine Rumble 3-yard pass and make it a 10-7 game. The Wildcats would keep fighting and capture the lead with 20 seconds left in the game on Raine Rumble's 11-yard pass and score. Although the Spartans wouldn't go quietly as they would have a chance to force overtime on a 40-yard field goal attempt it came up short. With the win the Gouverneur Wildcats advance to the quartersfinals next week and go to 8-1 on the season while the Spartans season will come to an end at 8-2. Gallery

It would be the opening Round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Football Tournament and it would feature the #14 Saranac Spartans hosting the #18 Gouverneur Wildcats from Plattsburgh High School in the North Country Super Bowl for the right to head to the quarterfinals and meet up with a team from Section II. It would be the first championship of championship Saturday from Ausable Valley High School as the #17 (#1) Saranac Spartans would take on the #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm for the Section VII Class C Championships. The Spartans would jump out to the lead just 2:13 into the game on a 25-yard run by Landen Smith to give the Spartans the 7-0 lead. The Spartans would stay on the gas and extend their lead to 15-0 on a 2-yard run by Nathan Hamel. Then with just 1:12 left in the quarter, Nathan Hamel would score again this time from 18 yards out, and give the Spartans the 22-0 lead as the first quarter would come to an end. In the second quarter, the Spartans would stay on the gas as they would score two more times this time from Conner Burns and Alex Clancey, and give the Spartans the 36-0 lead as they headed into the locker room. When the teams returned for the second half it was looking like the first half again as the Spartans would score just 4:35 into the half on a 6-yard run by Haiden Blair to give the Spartans the 43-0 lead. The Red Storm would get on the board with a 12-yard passing touchdown with 1:20 left in the third quarter to make it a 43-6 game. However, the Red Storm would not just be happy with avoiding the shutout as they would score again with 4 minutes left in the game on the Evan Willett running score to make it 43-12 game. With that, the Saranac Spartans would hold onto the win and advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will be in action next week against Section X's Gouvenour Wildcats in the opening round on November 10th.
