Dirtcar Racing: Sprint Cars of New England Presented by Mcgee Auto @ Airborne Park Speedway April 19th 2025

Donovan Lussier (61), Travis Bruno (33), and Shane Pecore (0) battle three wide of the corner for the lead during the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified 40-lap 2 to win feature. It would be the second week of the from the Airborne Park Speedway and it would feature the Sprint Cars of New England presented by McGee's Auto for there season opening 360 sprint race along with the Sportsman Modified $2,000 to win, Limited Sportsman Modified, Renegades, 500cc Mini Sprints, Mini Stocks, and Pro Stocks. The racing would get going after a brief delay on the night with the rain, and the first feature would be the 500cc Mini Sprints for their first visit to the track of the season. There would be eight cars for their ten-lap feature. Jenna Zakrzewski would get the lead off the start of the race, but after some issues in the heat race, Chris Pierce would charge from the back of the pack, take the lead, and get his first career win in the division. Then we would move on to the 2 thousand dollar to win 40-lap feature for the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified. It would see Travis Bruno and Jamy Begor battle for the lead at the start of the race, and Bruno would prevail. Still, there would be a challenge coming from the back as both Fire Swamp and Donovan Lussier had problems in the heat race and had to go to the last chance qualifier to make the show; they would come up from the tenth row. They would put on a battle for the fans as they went after the win, and in the end, Donovan Lussier would get the win for his first of the season as he tries to duplicate last year's division high seven wins, as Fire Swamp and Cory Castell round out the top three. Then it would be the Mini Stocks and their fifteen-lap event. It would Jeremaih King get the lead off the start of the race and have a nice early race battle with Jason Bradley and then battle would be up front between the teammates as Jake Fountain and Ryan Senecal would duke it out for the win and on this day it would be defending track champion Ryan Senecal getting the victory. Then it would be time for the feature event of the night the Sprint Cars of New England 360 tour would bring 16 of the best sprint cars from new england and Canada to battle it out for 25 laps on the half mile, Travis Billington would get the pole but the lead would short lived as Jeff Trombley would get the early lead of the race. Still, there would be a charge from Jordan Poirier and Matt Tanner, and Poirier would get his second straight win at the Airborne half mile. Then it would be the first appearance of the season for the Pro Stocks, and there would be 18 strong. It would see Denis Gauverau get the lead at the start of the race. Still, it would not be a runaway as Sid Harmer kept it close as he tried to chase him down, and it would see multi-time champion Luke Horening come from the middle of the back and charge to third, and at one point have a chance at the lead. Then we would have the 9th State Cannabis Renegades on deck for their 20 lap event, and it would see Brad Bushey go wire to wire for the win, but it would not be without stiff competition from Tylor Terry and Tyler Irwin, as he would get his first ever win on dirt. Then, to finish off the jammed back night of the race, it would be the Hoosier Tires Limited Sportsman Modified, with their 15-lap event, and it would see Kobe Hernandez with the go-away victory for his first career win. The Airborne Park Speedway will be back in action next Sunday April 27th as part of Bike Giveaway night with eight divisions in attendance 358 Modifieds, Sportsman Modified, Limited Sportsman Mofified, Renegades, Mini Stocks, Pro Stocks, 500cc Mini Sprints and the Crown Vics as it will be the last event before they start there regular thursday night racing. 71st Season Openner 2nd Leon Gonyo Memorial @ Airborne Park Speedway April 13th 2025
Felix Roy (91) and Jackson Gill (60) battle for the early race lead during the 2nd annual Leon Gonyo Memorial 358 Modified 40 lapper from the Airborne Park Speedway as they go after the 4 thousand dollar payday. It would be the 2025 season opener from the Airborne Park Speedway, and it would be the earliest in the 71-year history of the track, as we took the green on April 13th, and it would mark the return of the Airborne Park Speedway under the Dirtcar banner after a year away. The season would start with the 2nd annual Leon Gonyo Memorial, 4 thousand to win for the 358 Modifieds and two thousand to win for Sportsman Modified, along with the Renegades, Crown Vics, Limited Sportsman Modifieds, and Mini Stocks, as there would be over 130 cars in the pits. After all the time trials, heats, and last chance qualifiers were done, it would be onto the mains, and the first one up would be the Crown Vics. It would be a six-car field and see Richie Turner get the lead-off start, but Eric Friend would come up challenging from his last row start, take the lead, and cruise to the win, as we would get our second straight Crown Vic win at the Airborne Speedway. After the intermission, it would be onto the Sportsman Modified 2 thousand to win 30 lap main event. It would see Fire Swamp get the early lead from the early start of the race. Still, there would be a challenge up front from an old rival as the six-time track champion would come up and battle for the lead with Nick Heywood, and just over halfway through the race, he would take the lead. Still, it would not be without challenge as Swamp and Donovan Lussier would stay in sight and challenge for the lead, but Heywood would win today. Then it would be onto the main event of the evening, the Leon Gonyo Memorial, a 4 to win 358 Modified 40 lapper. It would see Felix Roy go wire to wire for the win, and it would be a Roy 1-2 finish. Jeremy would finish second, and then Jackson Gill would get third to round out the top three. Then we would be onto the Renegades for their 20-lap feature and see last year's champion, Shawn Duquette, get the lead off the start of the race. Still, there would be a challenge from last year's 2nd place man, Tyor Terry, and they would duke it out for the win, and on this day, it would be Tyor Terry getting the win and the early edge on the season. Then it would be onto the Limited Sportsman Modified and their 15-lap event, and see Gary English go wire to wire for the win. Then the final race of the evening would be the Mini Stocks, a 15-lap event, and 25 cars would take the green. It would see Jake Fountain get the lead at the start of the race and would be sailing around in the lead, but there would be a late race surge from Glen Engstrom, but it would come up about a car length short at the checkered flag, and Jake Fountain would get the opening win of the season. It would be the 2025 season opener from the Airborne Park Speedway, and it would be the earliest in the 71-year history of the track, as we took the green on April 13th, and it would mark the return of the Airborne Park Speedway under the Dirtcar banner after a year away. Jake Fountain (22) and Glen Engstrom (17) battle for the win down the stretch as they go after the win in the 15-lap main for the Mini Stocks. The season would start with the 2nd annual Leon Gonyo Memorial, 4 thousand to win for the 358 Modifieds and two thousand to win for Sportsman Modified, along with the Renegades, Crown Vics, Limited Sportsman Modifieds, and Mini Stocks, as there would be over 130 cars in the pits. Raymond Hanson (68) and Jenna Zakrzewski (727) battle for the lead in the closing laps of there ten lap feature with the win going to Hanson. It would be the second of the Elegance Coating Championship Weekend from the Airborne Park Speedway and the big race on the day would be the 100 lap 5 thousand to win for the Sportsman Modified and there would be 49 cars fighting for 1 of the 32 starting spots. Also on the card would be the 9th State Cannabis Renegades, Moore Recycling Mini Stocks, and the 500cc Mini Sprints. The first feature of the day would be the 500cc Mini Sprints and their ten-lap event. The early leader would be Jordan Zakrzewski but Raymond Hanson would come from his 6th starting spot and get the win over Destin St Clair and Jenna Zakrzewski. Then we would have the 9th State Cannabis Renegades for their 40-lap event. The early leader of the race would be Shawn Fountain but he would only have the lead till lap 5 when Josh Terry would take the lead and hold it till the end. Although it would not be without competition Shawn Duquette and Nathaniel Guay would be short on his feelings for the rest of the race. In the end, Josh Terry would get the win on the afternoon but Shawn Duquette would win the war and be crowned the 2024 track champion over Tylor Terry. Then we would have the Mini Stocks for their 20-lap event and Tyler Bell would have the lead for the first 2 laps. Then there would be a pass at the front and Josh Laporte would take the lead and have it til lap 6 and he would have the lead til lap 13. On lap 13 Laporte would take the lead back but in the end, Jason Porter would get the lead down the stretch and hold on for the win. Then it would be time for the big go the 100 laps for the Sportsman Modified with the 5k to the winner. The race would start with an accident going into turn 1 with three cars involved and Chris Cayea would end up on his side. When they restarted the race Travis Bruno would take the lead and have the lead for the first ten laps. On lap ten Donovan Lussier would take the lead and he would hold the lead for the next 90 laps. Still, it would not be without challenges as Travis Bruno, Fire Swamp, and Jordan Fornwalt would all take their shot at the top spot. Still, in the end, Donovan Lussier would hold on for his 9th win on the season, with Joey Scarbrough finishing 16th on the day Lussier would be crowned the 2024 track champion. Gallery

Gene Zindler (46) and Kyle Hart lead the pack into the corner as we had tight racing during the Moore Recycling Mini Stock race. It would be the first day of the Elegance Coating Championship Weekend and there would be seven divisions in action with the Limited Sportsman Modified, 500cc Mini Sprints, Pro Stocks, Crown Vics, Sportsman Modified, Renegades, Mini Stocks along with the enduro racers there would be 115 racers in the pits plus another 49 enduro cars in action on the afternoon. Once the the heat racing was done it would be onto the features and the first one up would be the JS Steel Sportsman Modified nonwinners for 25 laps it would see Chris Cayea get the wire-to-wire win but it would not be without challenge as it would see him and Michael Wright battle for the lead most of the race. Then next up would be the 500cc Mini Sprints for their first segment of ten laps for the weekend and it would see a battle up front between Destin St Clair and Raymond Hanson but at the strip, it would be St. Clair by a car length. Then we would have the Pro Stocks for their 25 lap event and it would see Kyle Hoard start on the pole and hand his way to victory lane. Even though that would be the case it would not be without action on the track as it sees challenges from Bruno Cyr and Jonathan Levesque but they just wouldn't have enough on this day. Then it would be the return of the Crown Vics for their second-ever appearance at the track and it would see Chad Merrill start on the pole but he would be challenged by Eric Friend early in the race and would see Friend get the win over Matt Monaghan. Then we would have the Limited Sportsman Modified for there 25 lap event and Don Williams would get the early lead off the start of the race but he would be challenged by Caleb Durgan and he would get the lead late in the race and he would get his first career win and Logan Denis would round out the top three. Then we would have their Moore Recycling Mini Stocks for their pair of features in the a and b. We would start with the A Man for their 20-lap event and it would see Cory Collins get the early lead but it would be shortlived as Speedy Bressette would come up and take the lead. Although there would be a storm brewing in the back as Chris Clark would come from the 19th spot and take the lead and get the win and then in victory lane announce his retirement to the crowd. The winner of the B Main would be for the second time this season Jeremaih King would get to the checkered flag first. Then to finish off the night it would be the Enduro race for 50 laps that would see 49 cars take the green flag and the winner would be Brent Wilbur. The racing action will continue tomorrow with the season finale as the main event will be Sportsman Modified going 100 laps for five thousand dollars to win. Gallery

Fire Sqwamp (88) and Jamy Begor (19) get together down the backstretch going for the win on the final lap of the JS Steel Sportsman Modified 30 lap feature. It would be 35 Modified Championship night from the Airborne Park Speedway and the next to last race for all three other divisions for the night. After all the heat races were run it would be on to the features. The first feature of the night would be the Be Cool Heating and Air Condition 358 Modifieds for 30 laps and at the end there would be a championship decided. The leader of the start would be Jeremy Roy but that would be short-lived as the heavy hitters were coming from the middle of the pack eventually, Chris Raabe would get around him and take the lead and from there he would be off to get his second win of the season. As for the matter at hand with the championship, Mike Mahanney would finish 4th and Tim Fuller would be 7th clinching the 2024 track championship for Mike Mahanney and his first at the Airborne Park Speedway. Then next up would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and it would see Jamy Begor get the lead off the start and he would be out to a big lead but there would be charging Fire Swamp that was catching him in the closing laps for the lead. There would be a caution with about three laps to go and then the old aged would come up where cautions breed cautions. As we were on the third restart to get the last couple of laps. Then on the last lap that's when all hell would break loose as Fire Swamp and Jamy Begor would get together down the backstretch and Donovan Lussier would inherit the lead and get his 8th win of the season. Then next we would have the 9th State Cannabis Renegades for their 20-lap feature and it would see a battle up front behind Nathaniel Guay and Shawn Duquette and in the end it would be Guay getting his second win of the season. Then to finish off the night it would be Moore Recycling Mini Stocks with their pair of features. First up would be the A Main for 15 laps and would see rookie Cody Young lead the early part of the race but Steven Bressette would come up from the 7th spot and take the lead with 5 laps to go and hold for the win. Mike Mahaney (35) is crowned your 2024 358 Modified champion at the Airborne Park Speedway over Tim Fuller for the crown. It would be 35 Modified Championship night from the Airborne Park Speedway and the next to last race for all three other divisions for the night. After all the heat races were run it would be on to the features. The first feature of the night would be the Be Cool Heating and Air Condition 358 Modifieds for 30 laps and at the end there would be a championship decided. Then next we would have the 9th State Cannabis Renegades for their 20-lap feature and it would see a battle up front behind Nathaniel Guay and Shawn Duquette and in the end it would be Guay getting his second win of the season. First up would be the A Main for 15 laps and would see rookie Cody Young lead the early part of the race but Steven Bressette would come up from the 7th spot and take the lead with 5 laps to go and hold for the win.
