Peru Nigthawks Vs Saranac Spartans December 27th 2024
Saranac's Madison Gagnier (10) with the three from the corner over the outstretched arms of the Peru defender in the 48-33 victory. It would be the final game on the opening day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and would pit the Peru Nighthawks and Saranac Spartans in girls' basketball action. The Spartans would take control of the game early on and have the 17-7 lead after the game's opening quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would play a little more evenly as the Nighthawks would find their defense, and it would be a 9-8 quarter in favor of the Nighthawks, but the Spartans would have the 25-16 lead at the intermission. When the teams return for the third quarter, it will be another evenly contested eight minutes as the Spartans have a 12-9 quarter and take the 37-25 lead into the fourth. In that fourth quarter, it would be another win for the Spartans as they would have an 11-8 quarter and secure the 48-33 victory. In the winning effort for the Spartans, they will go to 6-1 on the season and take on the Beekmantown Eagles on the second day as they go for the title. Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Boy's Basketball: Peru Nighthawks Vs Saranac Spartans December 27th 2024

Saranac's Henry Napper (14) breaks ahead of the pack and lays it off the window for the score as the Spartans get the 61-44 victory. It would be the third game of the opening day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Saranac Spartans and the Peru Nighthawks would look up, and the Nighthawks would be looking for their first win of the season. It would be a close game at the start, as both teams feel each other out. The Spartans would have a slim 13-9 lead after the first quarter. The game would remain close through the second quarter as the Spartans would win the quarter 16-12 and take the 29-21 lead into the break. When the teams would return for the second half, they would find their offense and take control of the game with a 20-6 quarter and have a convincing 49-27 lead as they would enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would empty the bench and let the rest get in the game, and the Nighthawks would win the quarter 14-6, but it would not be enough as the Saranac Spartans would get the 5-41 victory. In the winning effort, the Saranac Spartans would go to 2-3 on the season as they will take on the Beekmantown on the second day as they go for the title. Boy's High School Hockey: Kenmore East Bulldogs @ Saranac Spartans December 15th 2024

Kenmore East's Luke Geraci (11), with the hard hit on Saranac's Nolan Miner (9), takes him off his feet and right to the ice, where he lies for a few minutes before getting back up. It would be the second game of the weekend for the Saranac Spartans as they would host another Section VI team at the Ameri-can North Arena as they continue the season's early start. The visiting Bulldogs would get the game's opening goal in the first couple of minutes for the 1-0 lead. Then, about the 4:30 mark of the game's opening period, the Spartans would tie the game up at one on the Ashtyn Catlin goal. Then, at the 6:17 mark of the period, Ashtyn Catlin would strike again for the Spartans to give them the 2-1 lead. Ten seconds later, the Bulldogs would tie the game up at two on the Evan Adair goal. The Spartan's offense would not go quietly, though, as they would retake the lead with 6 minutes left in the period on the Brody Macomber goal to make it a 3-2 Spartans lead, and that's where the first period would end. When the teams return for the second period, the defense would be the game's name as both teams would have their chances to score, but the Bulldogs would have the lone goal of the period just three minutes in to tie the game up at three. The Bulldogs would come up for the third period looking for the go-ahead goal and get it at the 5:25 mark from Ben Martin for the 4-3 lead. The game would stay there till the 10:06 mark of the period when the Spartans would tie the game up at four on the Nolan Miner. The Spartans would keep coming, and they would get their lead back at the 13:15 mark of the Gabe Moore goal and make it 5-4. Then, with just over a minute left in the game, Ashtyn Catlin would come down on the breakaway and beat the Bulldogs netminder to complete the hat trick and give the Spartans the 6-4 win. In the winning effort, Ashtyn Catlin would have three goals, and Brody Macomber would have three-point nights with a goal and two assists as they go 3-1 on the season as they head into the St. Albans tournament next weekend. The Saranac Spartans would start the home portion of their 2024-2025 campaign after a perfect 2-0 weekend in Syracuse as they would welcome in Section VI foe and Division 1 team, the Grand Island Vikings. The game would start well for the visiting Vikings as they would get the opening goal in the first 90 seconds from Kyle Kowalczewski for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there til midway through the period when the Vikings would extend their lead to 2-0 on the Ricky Kwarciak goal, and that's where the first period would end. The Spartans would get on the board at the 5:46 mark of the second period when Evan Patrie would find the net on the wrister and make it a 2-1 game. Then, about 30 seconds later, the Spartans would tie the game at two on the Ryan Campbell goal. The Vikings would return and retake the lead at 3-2 on the powerplay goal from Jaxon Montana. Then, after a miscue in the Spartan's end, the Vikings would break out on the breakaway, and Donovan Heacock would score to make it a 4-2 Vikings game with about 2:30 left in the second period, and that's where the period would end. The Spartans would make it a 4-3 one-goal game just 2:31 into the third period on the Ashtyn Catlin goal. The Spartans would have their chances through the rest of the period, including a couple of powerplays and even five-on-three powerplays, but they could not get the equalizer on the night, and the Vikings would get the 4-3 win. In the winning effort, the Grand Island Vikings go to 2-0-1 on the season as they head into their game against Germantown. Section VII Football Class C Finals: #1 Saranac Lake Red Storm Vs. #2 Saranac Spartans November 8th 2024

Saranac's River Poulin (30) splits the defenders for the big gain and the first down. It would be the battle of the Saranacs once again for the Section VII Class C Championship from the Beekmantown High School for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament. The game would start with the Red Storm jumping out to a quick 13-0 lead, but the Spartans would come back with a couple of scores of their own as they would take the 14-13 lead into the locker room at the half. When the teams return for the second half, it will be a back-and-forth game, but neither team will be able to get any separation. The Spartans would score in the game's closing minute to take the 30-22 lead. The Red Storm would thunder down the head, and they would get the touchdown. Knowing that they needed the two to two tie the game, they would take their quarterback on the sweep, Zack Goet, but they would come up just short, and the Spartans would get the 30-28 victory. In the winning effort, the Spartans go to 3-6 on the season as they will head to section x next week for their state game. As for the Saranac Lake, Red Storm would end their season at 4-4. Gallery

The Saranac Spartans would be crowned the 2024 Section VII Class C Champions with their 30-28 victory over the Saranac Lake Red Storm. Section VII Class B Volleyball Semi-Finals: #4 Saranac Spartans @ #1 Plattsburgh Hornets November 5th 2024

Saranac's Brenna Ducatte (14) with the finger-tip spike that she gets over the Hornets defender for the score. It would be the start of the Section VII Volleyball playoffs, and the Plattsburgh High School would host one of the two semi-finals on this day. The #1 Plattsburgh Hornets would enter the playoffs undefeated as they would take on the #4 seeded Saranac Spartans with a spot in the Sectionals finals on Friday against the winner of the Beekmantown Eagles and Saranac Lake Red Storm. The home Hornets would come out firing, but the Spartans would do their best to keep the first set tight, and the Hornets would do better with a 25-19 victory. In the second set, the Spartans would after the win from the start of the seat, and they would get the 25-20 set win. As they head into the third set, the Chiefs would leave little to the imagination as they would get the easy 25-7 victory. As they would head to the 4th set, the Hornets would stay hot as they would get the easy 25-13 victory. The Hornets would win the match 3-1 and go to 17-0 on the season as they will take on the winner of the Beekmantown Eagles and Saranac Lake Red Storm Friday evening with a title on the line. As for the Saranac Spartans, their season would end at 10-7. Gallery
