The Saranac Spartans would be crowned the 2024 Section VII Class C Champions with their 30-28 victory over the Saranac Lake Red Storm. It would be the battle of the Saranacs once again for the Section VII Class C Championship from the Beekmantown High School for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament. The game would start with the Red Storm jumping out to a quick 13-0 lead, but the Spartans would come back with a couple of scores of their own as they would take the 14-13 lead into the locker room at the half. When the teams return for the second half, it will be a back-and-forth game, but neither team will be able to get any separation. In the game's closing minute, the Spartans would score to take the 30-22 lead. The Red Storm would thunder down the head, and they would get the touchdown. Knowing that they needed the two to two tie the game, they would take their quarterback on the sweep, Zack Goet, but they would come up just short, and the Spartans would get the 30-28 victory. In the winning effort, the Spartans go to 3-6 on the season as they will head to section x next week for their state game. As for the Saranac Lake, Red Storm would end their season at 4-4. Gallery

Platsburgh's Ryan Colburn (13) had a catch over the middle for significant gain and was first down as the Hornets would get a 31-26 victory. It would be the final of the season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference, and the Plattsburgh Hornets would travel to Saranac Lake and take on the Red Storm in what might be the final game ever played at the Wilson Raymon field as they are supposed to have a brand new turf field at the high school next season. The Hornets would get the lone score of the first quarter from Danny Hartman on 21 21-yard run to give the Hornets the 7-0 lead. The Red Storm would return and get on the board on a 3-yard run by Zac Goetz, making it a 7-6 game. The Hornets would answer back with 1:07 left in the half on a 16-yard strike to Dominic Deangelo and take the 13-6 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the second half, the offense on both sides would pick up as the Hornets would strike first on the 12-yard run by Danny Hartman and take the 19-6 lead at the 3:54 mark. The Red Storm would come back down the field and make it a 19-13 game at the 6:14 mark of the third quarter. The offense would stay hot for the Hornets as they would make it a 25-13 game at the 9:57 mark of the third quarter when they would hit Ryan Coulburn on the 79-yard pass and catch, and that's how the quarter would end. Then, just 39 seconds into the 4th quarter, the Hornets would score again on the Bryan Kemokai run to make it a 31-13 game. The Red Storm would come back on the next drive and keep themself in the game on a 5-yard run by David Montroy to make it a 31-19 game with over seven minutes left. The Red Storm would keep coming, and with 1:54 left in the game, it would make it a 31-25 game as Zack Goetz would score on the keeper. From there, the Hornets would finish off the game and get the win as they go to 5-3 on the season. They will take on the Peru Nighthawks in the Section Class B Semi-Finals next Friday night. As for the Saranac Lake Red Storm, they would fall to 4-3 and will get a bye week as they take on the Saranac Spartans on November 9th to decide the Section VII Class C crown. Gallery

Peru's Landon Wilkins (32) dives for the endzone and gets one of his scores on the afternoon as they would get the 48-14 win over the red storm. It would be week #6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football season, and the Peru Nighthawks would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm from the Apple Bow. The Peru Nighthawks would get off to a quick start and have a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter on the Red Storm. The Nighthawks would keep the pedal down as they would get a 6-yard score from Landon Wilkins at the 3:15 mark and make it a 28-0 game. Then the Red Storm would get on the board with 1:53 left in the half on a 46-yard scoop and score of the Red Storm, making it a 28-7 game. Then, with 1- seconds left in the half, the Red Storm would score again on a 6-yard run to make it a 28-14 game as they head to the intermission. With under four minutes left in the third, the Nighthawks would extend the lead to 34-14 on a 1-yard run by Wyatt Bridges to make it 34-14. The game would stay there till the three-minute mark of the fourth when Carpenter would score on a 56-yard pass and catch it, making it a 41-14 game. Then, with 2:40 left in the game, Landon Wilkins would break off a big 73-yard run for the score and take the 48-14 victory, and from there, they would hold on for the win. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks go to 3-2 in the season as they will host the Ausable Valley Patriots next weekend. Saranac Lake (9) comes in on the slide tackle of Peru's Ryan Campbell (9) to break up the attack. Althogh the Peru Nighthawks would get the 6-0 win on this Friday afternoon. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer action as the #9 Peru Nighthawks would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm as they were looking to keep their undefeated season going. The Nighthawks would waste little time getting the lead as they would take the 1-0 lead just ten minutes into the game on the Declan Baker goal. Then, as time would expire on the opening half, the Nighthawks would extend their lead to 2-0 on the Zach Benson buzzer beater. The Nighthawks would come out of the locker room hot and extend their lead to 3-0 in the 43rd minute on the Collin Powers goal, and he would add two more in ten minutes to have a hat trick and give the Nighthawks a commanding 5-0 lead. Then, to end the game in the 65th minute, Alex Watts would score to give the Nighthawks the 6-0 lead and then hold on from there for the shutout victory and go to 11-0-1 on the season as they head into their next match on October 18th against the Beekmantown Eagles. As for the Saranac Lake Red Storm, they fall to 6-7 in the season, and they will look to get back to 500 in the year as they take on Boquet Valley on October 15th. Gallery

Saranac Lake's (7) with the shot on net as she would have a hat trick on the afternoon as the Red Storm get the 5-1 victory. It would be Section VII girl's Soccer action from Seton Catholic as the Knights would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm on the pitch. The Red Storm would get the match's opening goal in the 31st minute from number 7 as they would take the 1-0 lead, and that's how the first half would end. When the teams returned for the second half, the Knights would answer in the 43rd minute to tie the game at one. The game would only stay tied briefly as the Red Storm would answer back in the 46th minute to retake the lead at 2-1 on the goal from 16. The Red Storm would keep their foot on the accelerator, adding three more goals down the stretch to give themselves the 5-1 win. The Red Storm would improve their record to 6-3-1 on the season as they will have their next game against Ticonderoga on October 9th. As for the Knights, they are still looking for their first win as they go to 0-9 on the season and will be back in action on October 9th as they will travel to Moriah for a game against the Vikings. So it would be week 5 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season, and this time, we would go to Saranac Lake and Raymond Wilson Final, where the host #19 Saranac Lake Red Storm would host the #25 Beekmantown in a game of the undefeated Red Storm and 1 lose Eagles. The game would be tight throughout the first half. The Eagles would get the game's opening score on the Josh Sands 2-yard keeper at the 8:26 mark of the first quarter to take the 7-0 lead. The game would stay there til the 4:25 mark of the second quarter when the Red Storm would get on the board with their quarterback keeper as Zack Goetz would score to make it a 7-6 game, and that's where the game would enter the half. When the teams returned for the second half, both teams were looking to break through in the matchup. The Eagles would answer that bell on the 29-yard run by Parker Broughton to take the 14-6 lead at the 4:54 mark of the quarter. The game would stay there till the 8:27 mark of the 4th quarter when the Eagles would extend their lead to 21-6 on the 16-yard pass to Patrick Hagadorn. The Red Storm would answer right back as they marched down the field, and Chris Martin would finish off on the 4-yard run to make it a 21-12 game. The Eagles would put the game out of reach with 1:16 left in the game when Shamus Bibeau would score from 9 yards out to open up the lead to 28-12, and that's where the game would finish. The Beekmantown Eagles go to 4-1 on the season with their win and will be back home next weekend against the Moriah Vikings.
