Plattsburgh State's Macie Bolton (13) and Clarkson's Alina Krdzic (3) battle for possession just over the midfield. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's Soccer would be hosting their third straight opponent from the Liberty League at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Complex against the Clarkson Golden Knights. Then Golden Knights would get the opening goal of the match in the 30th minute from Maddie Lopol to give the Golden Knights the 1-0 lead on the penalty kick and that's where the first half would end. When the teams returned for the second half they would go back and forth as the Cardinals would try and get the equalizer but in the 60th minute, the Golden Knights would expand their lead to 2-0 on Brooke Butler's second goal of the season. Then in the 75th minute, the Golden Knights would put the game on ice as they added their third goal to give them a 3-0 lead on the Ema Robinson goal her fourth of the season. That would do it for the scoring on the day as the Clarkson Golden Knights would get the 3-0 win and go to 3-3 on the season as the Cardinals fall to 1-5. As for the Cardinals, they will be back in action Saturday as they travel to Fredonia to take on the Blue Devils in their first conference test of the season. Gallery

Section VII Class A Boy's Soccer Semi-Finals. #3 Beekmantown Eagles @ #2 Plattsburgh Hornets October 25th 2024

Plattsburgh's Richard Griffin (7) and Beekmantown's (10) are locked together as the Eagles go in on the attack. It would be a semi-final action from the Plattsburgh High School as the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #3 Beekmantown Eagles in Section VII Class A Boy's Soccer action. The Hornets would waste little time in getting on the board as Joel Avos would score in the 15th minute of the game. That would end the scoring in the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, both teams would give it everything they had, but the defense would be the game's name, and no one could find the back of the net. The Plattsburgh Hornets would get the 1-0 victory and go to 11-2-3 on the season and will face the undefeated Peru Nighthawks in the Section VII Class A Finals on October 30th. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball: Saranac Lake Red Storm @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 17th 2024

Saranac Lake's Lexie Donaldson (6) rises up for the spike that she would kill right back down the middle. The season may be still early but it would be a battle of unbeaten at Plattsburgh High Gym as the Saranac Lake Red Storm and the Plattsburgh Hornets would look to 3-0 on the early. The first game of the night would be super competitive as there would be multiple lead changes throughout but in the end the Hornets would take game 1 25-18. In the second game, the Hornets would come out and take the early big lead and hold it from there even through a mid-set run by the Red Storm but the Hornets would get the 25-11 win. The times would go to the third and the Hornets would look to stay perfect on the season as they would take on the Lake Placid Blue Bombers. As for the Red Storm, they will look to restart their winning streak as they host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on September 19th. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Soccer: Moriah Vikings @ Seton Cathloc Knights September 17th 2024

Moriah's (2) takes it from the corner and charges to the box with the Seton Catholic defender in tow. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Soccer from St. Peters Church as the host Seton Catholic Knights would take on the Moriah Vikings. This would be a game that the Vikings would be in control of from start to finish. The Vikings would be throttled down in the first half as they would light the lamp seven times in the half Amelia Kazlo would score four times in the half, and Emma Harrington would get one. Then when the teams returned for the second half the Vikings would take their foot off the gas as they got three goals in the half Amelia Kazlo would have a couple more to finish with 6 goals on the day and the Vikings would hold on for the 10-0 win as they go to Vikings would go to 3-0 on the season and the Knights fall to 0-3 on the season. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Soccer: Peru Nighthawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 17th 2024

Plattsburgh's Olivia LaMountain (3) and Peru's Reese Duprey battle for the ball at midfield. We would have the crosstown rival game as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh High Sports Athletic Complex. The Nighthawks would not waste time getting the game's opening goal just three minutes in when Maggie Garrow would strike the back of the net for the 1-0 lead early. Although, the Hornets would be able to get the equalizer later in the half to tie the game at one point to end the first half. The game would stay tied until the 53rd minute when Amaya Abellard would score to give the Hornets the lead, and from there, they would hold on for the victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would stay perfect on the season and go to 4-0, while the Nighthawks fall to 1-2. Gallery

Chateaugy's Jeffrey Stimpson (14) slides in and breaks up the attack by Peru's (20) outside the box. It would be a nonsectional boy's soccer game from the Peru High School Soccer Field as the Peru Nighthawks would host perennial class D-ranked Chayeaugay Bulldogs. The Nighthawks would get the opening goal of the game from Nick Petro to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Nighthawks would keep coming and get a second goal in the first half on a penalty kick from Seanan Edwards to give them the 2-0 lead in the 34th minute and that's where the first half would end. When the teams came back for the second half there would be no give in the Bulldogs and would keep up the physical play but in the 46th minute, the Nighthawks would extend the lead to 3-0 on Seanan Edwards's second goal of the game. The Nighthawks would keep their foot on the gas and would make it a 4-0 game in the 53rd minute on the Jordan Osborne goal. Then with five minutes left in the game, the Nighthawks would put the icing on the cake as Hayden Lozier would score to secure the 5-0 win. The Nighthawks would extend their perfect record to 5-0 as they will be back in action on September 18th against the Saranac Spartans. As for the Chateaugay Bulldogs, they will fall to 1-2 on the season and will look to get back to 500 in their next contest. Gallery

NJCAA Division III Region III Men's Soccer: North Country Community College Saints @ Clinton Commuty Cougars September 15th 2024

Clinton Community College's Zamir Foster (GK) with the diving stop on the penalty shot attempt by North Country Community College. We would have NJCAA Region III Men's Soccer from the Plattsburgh State Field House as the Clinton Community College Cougars would host the North Country Community College Saints as they would be benefiting the American Cancer Society. Both teams would come into the game looking to right their early season woes and get back on the right track. The Cougars would get the game's opening goal as Ben Burdo would give them the 1-0 lead 11 minutes in. The Saints would not let that get them down as they would keep fighting and Jon Snell would score on the penalty kick in the 22nd minute to tie the game up at one. The Cougars would be relentless though and not give up as they would keep coming and be able to retake the one-goal lead at 2-1 on the Cyle Marshall goal and that would end the scoring for the first half. The Cougars would come out of the locker room on fire as they would have the rare lead to start the half and they would answer with Ben Burdo's second goal of the game in the 61st minute to expand their lead to 3-1. Although the Saints would not give up they would keep fighting back and make it a one-goal game again in the 74th minute as Jon Snell would get his second goal of the game and make it a 3-2 game. The Cougars would not be throwing off their game answer right back 2 minutes later and regain their goal lead at 4-2 on Ben Burdo's hat trick goal and from there the Cougars would hold on for the win and their first of the season at 4-2. In the winning effort, Zamir Foster would make 6 saves as they go to 1-5 on the season. As for the North Country Community College Saints, Marc Bechard would make ten saves on the day but it would not be enough as they fell to 0-5 on the season. The Clinton Community College Cougars will look to build on this win as they head into their next game on September 18th against Hudson Valley Community College. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Leah Warren (11) and R.I.T.'s Neena Damodaran (20) battle for the ball in the defensive battle that the game turned into. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host their second straight Liberty League foe at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Complex. It would be a very evenly played game with both teams having their scoring chance. In the end, though there would only be one game scored on the afternoon tilt as R.I.T.'s Elena Onodera would get the lone goal of the game and fourth of the early season in the 50th minute of the game. In the winning effort for the Tigers their pair of goalies would have the clean sheet. As for the Cardinal's netminder, she would make 8 saves on the day and do her best to keep their team in the game. The Cardinals will be back in action Wednesday, September 18th as they will have their third straight Liberty League foe in the Clarkson Golden Knights. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 2: Saranac Spartans @ Beekmantown Eagles September 13th 2024

Saranac's Branigan Boulds (10) watches the ball into the hands for the catch and big play for the Spartans. It would be the second week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season. Still, it would be the first conference game for both teams as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Saranac Spartans as they were both looking to get their conference season going right off the back. The Eagles would control the ball for most of the first quarter and would get the opening score of the game at the 10:37 mark of the quarter on a 5-yard run by Parker Broughton for the 8-0 Eagles lead. The Eagles would waste little time getting the ball back and marching it down the field as Parker Broughton would score again this time on a 47-yard strike to give the Eagles the 15-0 lead just 1:25 into the second quarter. Then with just over three minutes left in the half, the Eagles would break the game open on a 93-yard pass and catch to Patrick Hagadorn for the 22-0 Eagles lead and that's where they would end the first half. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same as the Eagles would stay on the gas and extend the lead to 29-0 at the midway mark of the third period on the short run by Shamus Bibeau. The game would stay there till the 3:43 mark of the fourth quarter when Shamus Bibeau would score again on the short run to give the Eagles the 35-0 lead and victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles go to 1-1 on the season as they will host the Massena Red Raiders next week in non-conference action. As for the Saranac Spartans, they will head home for their home opener against the Moriah Vikings as they look to shake their 0-2 start.Gallery
