The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home to the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena after the winter break and their first game in nearly a month as they would take on a brand new program, the Keene State Owls, from the Little East Conference in front of 1100 fans. The game would start with the Plattsburgh State Cardinals getting the opening goal near the midway mark of the first period on a goal from Colin Callanan at 9:38 for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there until the 7:38 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would strike on the power play with Aaron Catron's goal to make it a 2-0 game. The Keene State Owls would do their best to stay in the game, but in the end, the Cardinals would be too much on this day as they would add an empty netter in the final minute of the game from Aaron Catron for his second of the night as they get the 3-0 lead. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would go to 6-5 on the season, and Jacob Hearne would make 26 saves in the shutout win as they head to Connecticut tomorrow and take on Weselyan. The Plattsburgh Hornets would open up the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference portion of their season with a home tilt against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars from the Ameri-can North Sports Complex. The Hornets would get the game's opening goal at the 6:37 mark of the first period when Cooper Holland would sneak it by the netminder for the 1-0 Hornets lead. The game would stay there till the 6:50 mark of the second period when Sam Bezio would snip by the Cougars goalie for the 2-0 lead. The Hornets would keep coming and expand their lead to 3-0 at 9:07 into the second period when Braeden Calkins would score. Then, at the 10:01 mark of the third period, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with the game's second goal by Sam Bezio and take the 4-0 lead, and from there, they would hold on for the win. In the winning effort, Owen Chapple would make 17 saves for the shutout victory as they go to 3-4-1 on the season before they head into their meeting against the Beekmantown Eagles on Saturday. As for the Northeastern Clinton Cougars, Greyson LaFountain would make 33 saves in the losing effort, and they drop to 0-5 on the season and will have the Saranac Spartans on Saturday at the Rouses Point Civic Center.
