We would have a match-up inside the top of Girl's Soccer action for Section All, be it one team from Class A and the other from B inside Section VII, as the #20 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #16 Saranac Chiefs in their last game of the regular season. The home Hornets would get off to the early lead on the 6th-minute goal from Bailey Hewson to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Hornets would waste little time expanding their lead to 2-0 on Bailey Hewson's second goal of the game in the 18th minute, and that's how the scoring would end for the 1st half. Then, when the teams returned for the second half, the Hornets would take control of the game in the 48th minute when Amaya Abellard scored to take the 3-0 lead, and that's where the scoring would end. In the winning effort, the Plattsburgh Hornets would finish their regular season at 12-3 and enter the Section VII Class A playoffs as the #2 seed. Plattsburgh's Braeden Calkins (12) had the game-winning touchdown with 12 seconds left for the 28-22 victory. It would be week 6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Spartans as part of their homecoming weekend and their last home game of the regular season. The game would start slow, with no scoring in the first quarter. The Spartans would get the game's opening score 32 seconds into the second quarter on a River Poulin 9-yard run for the 6-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 9:14 mark of the quarter when the Hornets would block the Spartan's punt attempt, and it would roll out the back of the endzone for the Hornet's safety, making it a 6-2 game. Then, in the final 30 seconds of the half, the Hornets would take the lead on a 29-yard strike to Braeden Calkins and take the 8-6 lead to the locker room. The Spartans would not go quietly and retake the lead at 14-8 on a 1-yard run by River Poulin to take the lead 14-8 at the 2:11 mark. Then, at the 6:11 mark of the third quarter, the Spartans would extend their lead to 22-8 on the 2-yard run by Zack Lucia. In the closing minutes of the third, the Hornets would cut the lead in half on the Dominic Deangelo score to make it 22-16 game. The game would stay there till the 5:48 mark of the fourth when Dominic Deangelo would score again, this time on a 56-yard pass and catch to make it a 22-22 game coming down the stretch. Then, with 12 seconds left in the game, the Hornets would drive down, hit Braeden Calkins for the 2-yard pass, and get the 28-22 victory. In the winning effort, the Plattsburgh Hornets go to 4-2 on the season as they head into their road game against the Beekmantown Eagles next weekend. Plattsburgh's Nate Baker (4) flies through the air for the shot attempt on the net as Saranac's (11) does his best to break up the play. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Spartans in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer from the Plattsburgh High Sports Complex. The Hornets would get the scoring going first with a goal in the 6th minute from number 6 for the 1-0 lead. Then, in the 23rd minute, the Hornets would extend their lead to 2-0 on another goal. The Spartans would keep fighting and answer back in the 34 minute on the Michael Strack goal to make it a 2-1 game, but the Hornets would answer right back in the same minute to regain the two-goal lead at 3-1. The Spartans would keep fighting throughout the second half, making it a one-goal game at 3-2 in the 63rd minute. Although the Hornets would be able to fend off the challenges by the Spartans and get the win and go to 7-1P-1 on the season while the Spartans fall to 5-2-1 on the season. Gallery

Beekmantown's Shamus Bilbeau (1) breaks through the tackle of Saranac's Jack Lachre (51) as he gets the first down and has two scores on the night. It would be the second week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season. Still, it would be the first conference game for both teams as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Saranac Spartans as they were both looking to get their conference season going right off the back. The Eagles would control the ball for most of the first quarter and would get the opening score of the game at the 10:37 mark of the quarter on a 5-yard run by Parker Broughton for the 8-0 Eagles lead. The Eagles would waste little time getting the ball back and marching it down the field as Parker Broughton would score again this time on a 47-yard strike to give the Eagles the 15-0 lead just 1:25 into the second quarter. Then with just over three minutes left in the half, the Eagles would break the game open on a 93-yard pass and catch to Patrick Hagadorn for the 22-0 Eagles lead and that's where they would end the first half. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same as the Eagles would stay on the gas and extend the lead to 29-0 at the midway mark of the third period on the short run by Shamus Bibeau. The game would stay there till the 3:43 mark of the fourth quarter when Shamus Bibeau would score again on the short run to give the Eagles the 35-0 lead and victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles go to 1-1 on the season as they will host the Massena Red Raiders next week in non-conference action. As for the Saranac Spartans, they will head home for their home opener against the Moriah Vikings as they look to shake their 0-2 start. Gallery

Saranac's Abby Liberty (9) slides under the tag of the Olattsburgh's pitcher and gets another run for the Spartans. It would be an early season matchup inside of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Softball as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Spartans. The game would start well for the Spartans as they opened the first inning with three runs for the 3-0 lead. In the second inning, the Spartans would add another four running as they would start to take control with the 7-0 lead. In the third inning, they would break it out with a six-run inning and take the 13-0 lead. In the fourth inning, they would add another five runs to expand the lead to 18-0. Before adding a single run in the fifth to secure the 19-0 win. In the winning effort, the Saranac Spartans stay undefeated on the season while the Plattsburgh Hornets suffer their first loss of the season and go to 2-1 on the season. Gallery

The Saranac Spartans are crowned the 2024 Section VII Class B Champions over the #1 Northeastern Clinton Cougars. It would be the last game of the opening day of the Section VII Basketball Championships and it would feature #1 Saranac Spartans and the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars for the Class B Girl's championship. It would be a slow start for both teams as the Spartans would have a slim low-score lead of 6-4 after the first quarter. The offenses would start to wake up in the second quarter as the Spartans would have a 9-6 quarter and a 15-10 lead at the intermission. When the team returned for the third quarter it would be an even matchup with more scoring but the Spartans were still slightly better with a 14-13 quarter and took the 29-23. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars would try everything that they had to be able to get over on the Spartans and would outscore them 13-10 but it would not be enough as the Spartans would get the 39-36 victory. In the winning effort, the Spartans would end the Cougar's undefeated season and go to 19-3 on the season as Brenna Ducatte would lead the way with 13 points. With the win, the Saranac Spartans will enter the NYSPHSAA Class B Girl's State Tournament and will play the winner of Section II in the opening round on Wednesday. Gallery
