It would be the return of a classic rivalry at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Middlebury Panthers in the first of two games on Cancer Awareness weekend in front of 1,200 fans. The game would be scoreless through the opening two periods as the defenses would stand tall that night. The Cardinals would finally break through and get the game's opening goal at the 1:18 mark of the third period on the powerplay when Ttler Ramm would make it a 1-0 Cardinals game. The game would stay there till the 16:20 mark of the period when the Panthers would tie the game up at one on the Dimitri Tzaferis goal. The game would go to overtime tied at one, and in the extra frame, Cardinals Aaron Catron would find the back of the night for the game-winner at the 1:23 mark to give the Cardinals a 2-1 win. Jacob Hearne would make 15 saves in the winning effort as they go to 8-6-1 and head into their game against Wiltheir. Saranac's Ashtyn Catlin (1) grips the wrister for the game-winner in overtime as the Spartans get the 7-6 victory. It would be NYSPHSA Boy's Hockey from the IRA Wilson Arena on the campus of SUNY Geneseo. It would see the #10 Saranac Spartans travel and take on the Livingston Lakers to start their road weekend to Section V. The game would start well for the home Lakers as they would get the game's opening goal at the 7:53 mark of the period. The Spartans would come back and tie the game up at the 11:17 mark of the period when Adrian Barnes would score. At the 14:30 mark of the period, the traveling Spartans would take the 2-1 lead on the Noah Miner goal. Then, to finish the period with 23 seconds left, the Spartans would strike again for their goal in five minutes, and the second one for Adrian Barnes as the period would end at 3-1. When the teams returned for the second period, the Spartans would waste little time making it a 4-1 lead as Adrian Banes would complete the hat trick. Then the Lakers would come back and score two goals in 12 seconds to make it a 4-3 game. Then, with under 5 minutes left in the period, they would complete the comeback and tie the game at four The,n just 1:45 into the third period; the Lakers would take the lead back to 5-4 and be able to extend the lead to 6-4 with just over 12 minutes left in the game. The Spartans would keep fighting and make it a 1 goal game again at the 9:08 mark on the Ryan Campbell short-handed goal. Then, with 1:49 left in the game, the Spartans would tie the game at six on the Gab Moore rebound goal, and that's where regulation would end. In the overtime, the Spartans would get the game-winner on the Ashtyn Catlin powerplay goal as the Spartans got the 7-6 win. Schroon Lake/Newcomb's (4) with the floater in the lane as Wild Huskies would get the 64-61 victory in double overtime. We would have a matchup inside the Mountain Valley Conference of Section as the Seton Catholic Knights and Schroon Lake/Newcomb Wild Huskies, as they would both be battling the top seed in the playoffs about a month away. The game would start well for the home Knights as they would run out to the 15-9 lead after the first quarter. The scoring pace would pick up when the second quarter came around as the teams were getting warm out there. Knights would win the quarter slightly with a 17-14 quarter and take the 32-23 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Wild Huskies would step up on the defense as they would hold the Knights to seven points and scored 16 to make it 45-39 Knights lead as they entered the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Wild Huskies would stay hot out there as they would win the quarter 13-7, and we would be tied at 52. Both teams down the stretch would have their chance to hit the winner, but they would rim out. The game would head to overtime, but on this day, they would need a second one as both teams scored seven in the first one to send it to the second overtime tied at 59. In that second overtime, we would finally have a resolution as the Wild Huskies would win the quarter 5-2 and secure the 64-61 victory. In the winning effort for the Wild Huskies, they would go to 7-2 on the season as they head to their next game against Hartford on Monday afternoon. Plattsburgh's Dan Hartman (11) with the three from the corner as part of a 28-point night as the Hornets get the 58-46 victory over the Eagles. It would be the second straight night of the Plattsburgh Hornets and Beekmantown Eagles rivalry from Plattsburgh, as we would have Boy Basketball action this time. The game would start well for the home Hornets as they would jump out to the 14-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would step up their game on both ends as they would hold the Eagles to just 5 points in, scoring 21 of their own and taking the 35-13 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would almost be like a couple of rounds as the Eagles would come out soaring, have a 20-8 quarter, and cut it down to a ten-point game as it would be 43-33 Hornets after three. It would be the most equal one of the day in the fourth quarter as the Hornets would win the quarter 15-13 as they secure the 58-mandatory. In the winning effort for the Hornets, they will go to 7-2 on the season as Danny Hartman will lead the way with 28 points as they head into their next game against the Saranac Lake Red Storm on the road Friday. Beekmantown's Julia Conroy (14) with the block on the chippy underneath as the Eagles get the 55-38 victory. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Basketball action from the Plattsburgh High School as the Hornets would host their neighbors in their annual rivalry game against the Beekmantown Eagles. The Eagles would come out flying in the first, doubling up the Hornets with a 13-7 quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagle's defense would be top-notch for the eight minutes as they would hold the Hornets off the scoreboard with a 13-0 quarter and take a convincing lead of 26-7 lead at the end of the first half. When the teams return for the third, it would be a bit more of a competitive quarter, but the Eagles would still be on top with a 14-9 quarter and take the 40-16 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would empty the bench and score high on both ends, but the Hornets would only win the quarter by one at 16-15 as the Eagles would get the 55-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Eagles, they would go to 6-4 on the season as they head into their next game on Thursday against Ausable Valley. The Seton Catholic Knights would host the Bolton Eagles in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference from Seton Catholic in Girl's Basketball action. The game would get off to a good start for the Eagles, racing out to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter. It will be more of the same in the second quarter as they stay hot with a 13-2 quarter and take the 26-6 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would be a closer match as the Knights would find some offense, and the Eagles would win the quarter 8-6 and take the 34-12 lead into the 4th quarter. It would be another t, right quarter in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles would still be better with a 10-8 quarter as they secure the 44-20 victory. In the winning effort, the Bolton Eagles go to 9-1 on the season as they head into their game on Wednesday against Keene.
