The upset-minded Bears would get the game's opening goal on the powerplay from Eli Douhart-Wood at the 10:45 mark of the first period. The Cardinals would keep coming and equalize the game at one with the Kevin Weaver Vitale goal at the 17:16 mark of the period. Then, with just 25 seconds left in the period, the Cardinals would take the 2-1 lead on the goal from Jake Sacratini, and that's how they would head to the intermission. The game would stay until the 12:09 mark of the second period when Brody Spencer Ha would extend the lead to 3-1. The Bears would not be going away on this night as they would make it a one-goal game at the 17:21 mark on the Michael Campbell goal, and we would head to the second intermission with the Cardinals having the 3-2 lead. The Cardinal offense would be on fire in the third period, scoring four goals in just 8 minutes. Aaron Catron would score twice, and Patrick Cole and Jake Sacratini would score to make it a 7-2 game. The Bears would get a late goal with about two minutes left when Payton Felix would score on the powerplay, but the Cardinals would hold on for the 7-3 victory. It would be the biggest rivalry in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys' hockey as it would be the first meeting of the year between the #10 Saranac Spartans and the Beekmantown Eagles from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in what might be the first of three meetings on the season as they have to meet for the title in 3 out of the last 4 year season. It would be a very physically hard-hitting game from the start as both teams were trying to show they were the dominant team on this day. Both teams would have their chances, but there would be no scoring in the first period. The Eagles would break and get the game's opening goal on the shorthand at the 11:36 mark of the period when Mason Carter would light the lamp and make it a 1-0 game in what would be the period's lone goal. The Spartans would keep coming and get the tying goal just 4:23 into the third period on the Jackson Coryer goal. The Eagles would return and get the lead again when Novak Jarus beat Shawn McLane at 11:29 to regain the lead at 2-1. Then, in the game's final minute, Edward Sweenor would add the empty netter to put the icing on the cake in the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort for the Eagles, they will go to 7-4-1 on the season as Jack Bell makes 31 saves in the win as they head into their nonleague game Friday against the Malone Huskies. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action with the second game of their fight cancer weekend, this time against another nonconference opponent, the Williams Ephs, at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena with over 1300 fans in attendance. The game would not start well for the home Cardinals as they would give up three first-period goals in six minutes from 6:53 to 12:59 when Connor Berg, David Vieten, and Mel Mortaerlli would score for the Ephs. The Cardinals would answer back with 2 two goals from Patrick Cole in 56 seconds, with one on the powerplay to make it a 3-2 game. Unfortunately, the Cardinal comeback would be cut short when the Ephs scored with 1:36 left in the period, thanks to Bobby Vorkey to make it a 4-2 game, and that's how the first period would end/ In the second period; the Cardinals would have the lone goal of the period from Vlad Pshenichnikov when he would score at the 11:39 mark of the period to make it a 4-3 game after two periods. In the third period, the Ephs would regain their two-goal lead at 7:01 when William Yee scored. The Cardinals could cut the lead back to one when Patrick Cole would score at the 12:36 mark of the period to make it a 5-4 game. The Cardinals would appear at the game at five in the closing minutes, but the goal would eventually be waived off on a delayed offsides call, and the Ephs would get the 5-4 victory. In the winning effort for the Ephs, Cal Sandquist would make 26 saves as they go to 6-7-1 on the season and head into their next game against the Colby Mules. Saranac's Landon Giroux (17) and Churchville Chili's Benjamin Kanellis (19) meet the minds as they go after the loose puck in the zone. It would be the second game of the weekend for the #10 Saranac Spartans on their road trip to the Finger Lakes region of New York State as they would take on the Churchville Chili Saints from the Scottsville Ice Arena. The hometown saints would get the lone goal of the first period at the 4:15 mark of the period on the wrister from Anthony Indiano to make it a 1-0 game, and that's where the first period would end. The second period would start well for the road-traveled Spatans as they would tie the game one on Ryan Campbell's goal at 2:59. Then, just under two minutes later, the Spartans would lead the game on the breakaway goal from Gabe Moo. TWith20 seconds left in the period, the Saints would answer back and tie the game at two on the Grayson Galliford. But that's not where the period would end as the Spartans would retake the lead at 3-2 off the issuing faceoff when Ryan Campbel would bring it down and snip it by before time expires. Then, in the third period, the Spartans would get the needed two-goal lead when Deacon Giroux found the net for the first time in his career at the 8:12 mark of the period, and from there, the defense would put the Saints in check, and get the 4-2 victory In the winning effort for the Spartans, they will go to 8-2-1 on the season as they head into their big rivalry game on Tuesday against the Beekmantown Eagles. Saranac's Adrian Barnes (8) with his second goal of the night on the scramble in front of the net. It would be NYSPHSA Boy's Hockey from the IRA Wilson Arena on the campus of SUNY Geneseo. It would see the #10 Saranac Spartans travel and take on the Livingston Lakers to start their road weekend to Section V. The game would start well for the home Lakers as they would get the game's opening goal at the 7:53 mark of the period. The Spartans would come back and tie the game up at the 11:17 mark of the period when Adrian Barnes would score. At the 14:30 mark of the period, the traveling Spartans would take the 2-1 lead on the Noah Miner goal. Then, to finish the period with 23 seconds left, the Spartans would strike again for their goal in five minutes, and the second one for Adrian Barnes as the period would end at 3-1. When the teams returned for the second period, the Spartans would waste little time making it a 4-1 lead as Adrian Banes would complete the hat trick. Then the Lakers would come back and score two goals in 12 seconds to make it a 4-3 game. Then, with under 5 minutes left in the period, they would complete the comeback and tie the game at four The,n just 1:45 into the third period; the Lakers would take the lead back to 5-4 and be able to extend the lead to 6-4 with just over 12 minutes left in the game. The Spartans would keep fighting and make it a 1 goal game again at the 9:08 mark on the Ryan Campbell short-handed goal. Then, with 1:49 left in the game, the Spartans would tie the game at six on the Gab Moore rebound goal, and that's where regulation would end. In the overtime, the Spartans would get the game-winner on the Ashtyn Catlin powerplay goal as the Spartans got the 7-6 win. In the winning effort, the Spartans go to 5-2-1 on the season as Sean Mclane makes 17 saves, and they will be right back in action as they take on Churchville Chilli to finish off the weekend tri-ass for the Laker; they fall to 2-8-1 on the season and will be playing Brighton tomorrow finish off there weekend set. It would be the return of a classic rivalry at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Middlebury Panthers in the first of two games on Cancer Awareness weekend in front of 1,200 fans. The game would be scoreless through the opening two periods as the defenses would stand tall that night. The Cardinals would finally break through and get the game's opening goal at the 1:18 mark of the third period on the powerplay when Ttler Ramm would make it a 1-0 Cardinals game. The game would stay there till the 16:20 mark of the period when the Panthers would tie the game up at one on the Dimitri Tzaferis goal. The game would go to overtime tied at one, and in the extra frame, Cardinals Aaron Catron would find the back of the night for the game-winner at the 1:23 mark to give the Cardinals a 2-1 win. Jacob Hearne would make 15 saves in the winning effort as they go to 8-6-1 and head into their game against Wiltheir.
