Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey: Saranac Spartans @ #10 Beekmantown Eagles January 16th 2024

Saranac's Landon Duprey with the early first-period to goal to answer back and tie the game at one. It would be the rematch from last year's Section VII Boy's Hockey Championship and it would feature the #10 Beekmantown Eagles and the Saranac Spartans the Spartans would be looking to avenge their earlier lost to the Eagles. The game would start well for the home Eagles as they would jump to the early 1-0 lead on the Edward Sweenor goal just 1:21 into the game. However, the Spartans would come back just over three minutes later and tie the game at one on the Landon Duprey goal. Then with 2:30 left in the first period, the Spartans would take the 2-1 lead on the Ashton Caitlin goal. The game would stay there till the 4:53 mark of the second period when the Eagles would come and tie the game at two on the Sam Bingel goal. However, the Spartans would not let the game stay tied long as they would retake the lead at 3-2 on Ashton Caitllin's second goal of the night just 45 seconds later. Then Landon Duprey would score twice for the Spartans with one on the powerplay to take the 5-2 lead. However, the Eagles would not let the period end that way as they would get with 1:32 left in the period as Pryce Parker would score to make it a 5-3 game as they headed to the second intermission. In the third period though the Eagles would come out flying as they would score three times in the first ten minutes of the period all from Zach Lapier to secure the 6-5 Eagles win and go to 9-2 on the season as they head to Saranac Lake Thursday to take on the Lakers while the Spartans fall to 5-5-1 on the season as they will welcome a couple of teams from the Syracuse area to AC North over the weekend. Frozen Hope Slapshots and Puckdrops: Plattsburgh Hornets Vs Saranac Spartans
The Saranac Spartans and Plattsburgh Hornets would come together after the game for a group photo in honor of the McLane family. It would be a game tonight between the Saranac Spartans and Plattsburgh Hornets in Boy's Hockey but tonight it would be more than just a hockey game as it would be Frozen Hopes to help with brain cancer research along with in memory of Aimee McLane the mom of goalie Sean McLane that would pass just a couple days before the game. As for the game on ice, it would take till the late stages of the first period before the opening goal when Declan Baker would score for the Spartans and make it 1-0. Then with under a minute left in the period the Spartans would expand the lead to 2-0 on the Landon Duprey goal. Then just 3:08 into the second period the Spartans would start to take control of the game at 3-0 on the Landon Giroux goal. Then just about 90 seconds later the Spartans would make it 4-0 and take control of the game on the Gabriel Moore goal. Then at the 6:46 mark of the period the Hornets would get on the board and make it a 4-1 game. The game would stay there till the 2:23 mark of the third period when the Hornets would score again and make it a 4-2 game. The Spartans would answer back with two straight goals from Nolan Miner and regain their four-goal lead at 6-2. However, the Hornets would do their best to keep it a game as they would get two goals from Darren Patchen and Barden Calkins to make it a 6-4 game with 7 minutes left in the game. From there the Spartans would hold on and get the 6-4 win and go to 3-3-1 on the season but more importantly on this night getting the win for the McLane family. The Spartans will be right back on the ice as they travel to Rouses Point and take on the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in another CVAC game. Gallery.

Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Boy's Basketball: Boquet Valley Griffins Vs Saranac Spartans December 28th 2023

Boquet Valley's Jackson Hooper (3) with the block from behind on Saranac's Zach Lucia (12) to keep the game tight. It would be the third game of the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Tournament and it would see the Boquet Valley Griffins and Saranac Spartans who both got wins yesterday so this game would decide who was the best on the boy's side. It would pit a couple of teams that were evenly matched and the top of the field and would be tied at fourteen after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would still play tight but the Spartans would start to pull away with a 13-9 quarter and take a 27-23 lead into the intermission. In the third quarter, the Spartans would build on their slim lead with an offensive outpour as they would win the quarter 20-11 and take a 47-34 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Griffins would do their best to get back in the game with their best quarter of the day scoring 17 point surge but the Spartans would be able to match them at seventeen and the Spartans would get the 64-51 Spartans win and end Boquet Valley's perfect season. In the winning effort, the Spartans would go to 2-3 while the Griffins fell to 7-1 while Griffins Jackson Hooper would lead all scorers with a game-high 23 points. Gallery

Boquet Valley Griffins Vs Saranac Spartans December 28th 2023

Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Girl's Basketball Boquet Valley Griffins Vs Saranac Spartans December 28th 2023

Saranac's Lilly Brown (12) and Boquet Valley's Charlee Orciani (14) go after the opening tip. It would be the second game of the second day of action from the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would see the Boquet Valley Griffins take on the Saranac Spartans. The Spartans would take the first quarter and get off to a dominant start with a 12-2 quarter. In the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Griffins would fight to keep it close and would actually win the quarter 12-10 but still would trail in the game 22-14. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Spartans would take back control of the game with a 18-9 quarter and expand their lead to 40-23. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would put the final touches on the game with a 19-4 quarter and cruise to the 59-27 victory. In the winning effort, the Spartans would go to 5-1 on the season as Layla Pellerin would lead the way with 17 points while the Boquet Valley Griffins would fall to 4-5 on the season. Gallery

It would be the second game of the second day of action from the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would see the Boquet Valley Griffins take on the Saranac Spartans. The Spartans would take the first quarter and get off to a dominant start with a 12-2 quarter. In the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Griffins would fight to keep it close and would actually win the quarter 12-10 but still would trail in the game 22-14. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Spartans would take back control of the game with a 18-9 quarter and expand their lead to 40-23. Clinton Community College Holiday Classic: Seton Catholic Knights Vs Saranac Spartans December 27th 2023

Seton Catholic's Aiden Pearl (22) with block of Saranac's Zach Lucia (12) and sends it back where it started. It would be the opening day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the third game of the day would feature the Seton Catholic Knights and the Saranac Spartans. It would be tight through the first quarter as the Spartans would have a slim 13-12 lead after the first eight minutes of the game. In the second quarter, the Spartans would find their stride and break the game wide open with a 26-6 quarter and take a 39-18 lead into the intermission break. When the teams returned for that third quarter the teams would be evenly matched as the Spartans would only win the quarter 16-10 and take the 55-28 lead into the fourth quarter. In that quarter the teams would stay evenly matched as the Spartans would win the quarter 10-6. Although with that second quarter that got very lopsided, the Spartans would get the big 65-34 victory. With the win Henry Napper would lead the way as the Spartans get their first win of the season and go to 1-3 on the season while the Seton Catholic Knights fall to 1-5 on the season. Both teams are back in action tomorrow as the Spartans will meet up with the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Seton Catholic Knights will get the Peru Nighthawks. Gallery

Malone Huskies Vs Saranac Spartans December 27th 2023
Saranac's Mchenna Brown (2) with the scoop shot under the basket for the score as the Spartans were off to the races. It would be the second game of the day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and we would have the Malone Huskies and Saranac Spartand to tip-off. The Spartans would get off to a hot start against the Malone Huskies with a 21-9 opening quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would do their best to not let the lead expand as it would be a 15-11 quarter for the Spartans and take a 36-20 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the third quarter though the Spartans would put the clamps on the Huskies and take control of the game with an 18-6 quarter and have a 54-26 lead headed into the fourth quarter. Where the teams would have an even quarter at ten a piece but the Spartans would get the convincing 64-36 victory. In the winning effort, Breena Ducatte would lead the way with 31 points as the Spartans go to 4-1 on the season and will face the Boquet Valley Griffins on the second day of the tournament while the Malone Huskies fall to 2-1 on the season and will get the Peru Nighthawks.
