Plattsburgh, NY-It was the opening weekend of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association football season, and the Plattsburgh Hornets made a statement in their season opener, rolling to a convincing 45-0 victory over the Malone Huskies in non-sectional action. The Hornets wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. At the 10:35 mark of the first quarter, Ryan Colburn electrified the crowd by returning a punt 92 yards for a touchdown, giving Plattsburgh an early 6-0 lead. Plattsburgh continued to control the game as Colden Johnson scored on a 2-yard touchdown run later in the opening quarter. The successful conversion pushed the lead to 14-0. Johnson struck again in the second quarter, finding the end zone from short yardage at the 6:53 mark to extend the Hornets' advantage to 22-0. That score would stand as the final points of the first half as Plattsburgh took a commanding lead into the break. The Hornets picked up right where they left off in the third quarter. Cooper Holland connected on a 13-yard touchdown pass with 3:08 remaining in the quarter to increase the lead to 29-0. On Malone's next possession, Plattsburgh's defense got in on the scoring by tackling the Huskies quarterback in the end zone for a safety, making it 31-0. Later in the third quarter, Johnson recorded his third rushing touchdown of the day, breaking free for a 14-yard score at the 6:05 mark to push the lead to 38-0. Plattsburgh capped off the scoring in the fourth quarter when Garrison Rodriguez powered in from 8 yards out with 4:13 remaining, sealing the 45-0 victory. Johnson led the Hornets offensively with 63 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Plattsburgh improves to 1-0 and will now prepare for sectional play against the Moriah Vikings. The Huskies fall to 0-1 and will look to rebound when they open sectional play against the Ogdensburg Blue Devils.

Seton Catholic's Oliver Hughes (10) with the clean block of Chateaugay's Jake Reynolds as the Knights get the 62-28 victory. It would be a matchup between the sections in Plattsburgh as the Seton Catholic Knights from Section VII would host the Chateaugay Bulldogs from Section X in the last week of the regular season. The Knights would get off to a quick start, leaving the Bulldogs behind with their 16-3 opening quarter. In the second quarter, it would be more of the same, as the Knights would have a 12-5 quarter and take a 28-8 lead into intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bulldogs still didn't have an answer, as the Knights scored 20 points and took a 48-18 lead into the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter, it would be the closest game of the night, but the Knights still secured the 62-28 victory. With the Knights winning, they would go to 10-6, and the Bulldogs would fall to 8-12. Chateaugay's Irreyln Laplante (12) breaks in past the defenders and lays it off the window for the score as the Bulldogs get the 52-35 victory. The #1-ranked team in New York State Class D would travel to Plattsburgh to take on Section VII Class A and see if they can continue their undefeated season. It would be tight through the first quarter, but both teams would have their offenses humming, as the #1 Bulldogs would be just a bit better, leading 15-13. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs would stay hot as they would double up the Hornets with a 12-6 quarter and have the 27-19 lead as they hit the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bulldogs showed no signs of slowing, as they posted a 13-7 quarter and took a 40-26 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs would put the final touches on the Hornets with a 12-9 quarter as they secured the 52-35 victory. In the winning effort, the Bulldogs stay perfect on the season at 16-0 as they have their last regular season game Thursday against Canton. It would be the last game of the two-day Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, featuring the Saranac Spartans from Section VII and the Malone Huskies of Section X, in what has the potential to be the best game of the tournament, as both teams were coming off impressive wins on Tuesday. The game would go back and forth for the whole first half as the Huskies would hit a buzzer beater and send the game into the intermission at 32-31 Spartans When the teams return for the second half it would be more of the same out of the start but the Huskies would pull late with a 34-23 half and secure the 66-55 victory. In the winning effort, the Huskies would win the tournament and stay undefeated on the season. As for the Spartans, they would come up short and finish 500 on the season. Gallery

It would be the battle of 12's from the top of the key as Saranac's Lily Brown (12) goes over Maloe Sadie Varin (12) for the score as the Spartans get the 44-41 victory. It would be the start of the second day of the 6th annual Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, and it would begin with a matchup between Section X and Section VII, pitting the Malone Huskies against the Saranac Spartans. The game started well for the Huskies, who jumped out to a 13-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, though, the Spartans would start to find their shot, scoring 12 points and trailing by a slim 18-16 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Spartans kept their hot hand going, scoring 15 points and taking a 31-22 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Huskies mounted a great comeback attempt and even had a chance to tie the game and force overtime in the final 2 seconds with a three-point attempt, but it came up short, and they would fall 44-41. In the winning effort for the Spartans M, Addison Graigner would lead the way with 13 points as they gowent-0 in the tournament. It would be the final game of the opening night of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, featuring the Beekmantown Eagles and the Malone Huskies in Boys' Basketball action. It would be high-paced offense from both teams as the game got underway, and the Huskies would lead 3-13 after one. The Eagles would do a better job of keeping it close in the second quarter, but the Huskies would still win the quarter 17-12 and take the 40-25 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter, the Huskies started to pull away, outscoring the Cougars 20-8 to take a 60-33 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Huskies would put the game away with a 17-11 quarter and secure the 77-44 victory. In the Huskies' effort, Ryan Heseltine led the way with 18 points. As for the Eagles, Garret Pelkey would lead the way with 12 points as they fall to 1-5 on the season. Gallery
