Section VII Class A Girl's Basketball Finals: #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles February 28th 2026

It would be the final game of the 2026 Section VII Basketball Championship weekend at the Florence Gym at Clinton Community College, with the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles for the Girls' Class A title. The Nighthawks would come out on fire as they would jump out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter. They would keep it going in the second quarter, scoring 14-6 and taking a 28- 0 lead into the locker room. When they came out of the locker room, it would be more of the same for the Nighthawks with a 17-7 quarter as they would stand at 45-17 as they entered the fourth. In the 4th quarter, the Nighthawks would go into cruise mode, and the Eagles would win the quarter 13-10, but the Nighthawks would hold on for the 55-30 victory. In the winning effort for the Nighthawks, Reese Duprey would lead the way with 20 points as they punched their ticket to the New York State Class A Tournament. Section VII Class C Girl's Basketball Finals: #1 Moriah Vikings Vs #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats February 28th 2026

It would be the next-to-last game of the weekend as the #1 Moriah Vikings would meet up with the #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats for the Section VII Class C Championship from the Clinton Community College Florence Gym. The game would start at a high-scoring pace as both teams came out of the locker rooms, and the Vikings would have a 22-17 lead after the first quarter. Section VII Class D Girl's Basketball Finals: #1 Bolton Eagles Vs #2 Schroon Lake Wildcats February 28th 2026

It would be the second game of the Saturday portion of championship weekend for Section VII from Clinton Community College, Florence Gym, as the #1 Bolton Eagles would meet the #2 Schroon Lake Wildcats in a battle for their spot in the New York State Class D Tournament. Defense would be the name of the game through the first quarter, as the Wildcats would have the slim 7-6 lead. In the second quarter, it would stay tight, but the Wildcats would build on their lead with a 14-10 quarter and take a 21-16 lead into the intermission. When the teams came out for the third quarter, the Wildcats' offense was on fire, scoring 15-4 as they cruised to a 36-20 lead and headed to the fourth. With the big lead, the Wildcats would clinch down and play defense as they would have a 9-7 quarter to secure the 45-27 victory. In the winning effort, the Schroon Lake Wildcats punched their ticket behind Olivia Hartwell's 331-point game. Section VII Class B Girl's Basketball Finals: #1 Saranac Spartans Vs #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars February 28th 2026

Saranac's Elizabeth Recore (4) with the three from the corner as the Spartans get the 38-36 victory. It would be the start of the second day of action at the Clinton Community College Florence Gym, as the #1 Saranac Spartans would take on the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars for the right to advance to the New York State Class B Tournament. Defense would be the name of the game, as the Cougars would start at just 6-2 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the offense would come alive on both sides, as the Spartans won the quarter 13-12 but trailed 18-15 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would be another low-scoring affair, as the Spartans won the quarter 11-9, and the Cougars took the slim 27-26 lead into the final 8 minutes. Section VII Class A Girl's Basketball Playoffs: #3 Plattsburgh Hornets @ #2 Beekmantown Eagles February 21st 2026

Plattsburgh's Emma Koon (24) with the contested three over Beekmantown's Iasia Mosley (23) as they would fall 43-36 in overtime. It would be a Section VII Class A Girls' Basketball playoff tilt from Beekmantown High School as the #2 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #3 Plattsburgh Hornets for the right to play for a sectional title against #1 Peru Nighthawks at Clinton Community College next weekend. The game would start well for the upset-minded Hornets, who jumped out to a 13-0 lead, but the Eagles would chip away, and the Hornets would have a 17-13 lead at the end of the quarter. The Eagles would keep coming in the second quarter and send the game to the intermission tied at 22 on a 9-5 quarter. When the teams returned for the third quarter, defense would be the name of the game, as the Eagles would take a 29-27 lead into the fourth quarter thanks to a 7-5 quarter. In the fourth quarter, the game would stay tight, and Ava Weiss for the Hornets would hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds to send the game to overtime tied at 33. Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball: Indian Lake Long Lake Orange @ Seton Catholic Knights February 11th 2026

It would be the last home of the season for the Seton Catholic Knights as they would host the Indian Lake/Long Lake Orange in girls' basketball inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference, with playoff seeding on the line. NYSPHSAA Girl's Basketball: #1 Chateaugay Bulldogs @ Plattsburgh Hornets February 9th 2026

The #1-ranked team in New York State Class D would travel to Plattsburgh to take on Section VII Class A and see if they can continue their undefeated season. It would be tight through the first quarter, but both teams would have their offenses humming, as the #1 Bulldogs would be just a bit better, leading 15-13. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs would stay hot as they would double up the Hornets with a 12-6 quarter and have the 27-19 lead as they hit the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bulldogs showed no signs of slowing, as they posted a 13-7 quarter and took a 40-26 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs would put the final touches on the Hornets with a 12-9 quarter as they secured the 52-35 victory. In the winning effort, the Bulldogs stay perfect on the season at 16-0 as they have their last regular season game Thursday against Canton. Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball: Lake Placid Blue Bombers @ Seton Catholic Knights February 4th 2026

It would be a matchup in Girls Basketball section VII, with the Lake Placid Blue Bombers and Seton Catholic Knights battling, as they have just a couple of weeks left in the regular season and are going for that all-important playoff seeding. It would be a slow start for both teams as they looked to gain their footing, as the Blue Bombers would have the 7-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Blue Bombers would find their footing as they would have an 11-6 quarter and take the 18-12 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, it was a defensive contest, with the Blue Bombers holding on for a 7-5 halftime lead and a 25-17 victory. It would be the #17 Peru Nighthawks traveling to the next town over and taking on the Plattsburgh Hornets as they look to stay undefeated inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference. In the second quarter, though, we would see the true Nighthawks come out, as they would have a 21-7 quarter to take a convincing 31-17 lead into the halftime break. It would be a return to Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action, as we are in the last month of the season, and teams are starting to make that playoff push. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host crosstown rival Beekmantown Eagles in girls' basketball action. The game started well for the home Hornets, who jumped out to a 12-2 lead after the first quarter. The Hornets would keep their foot on the gas in the second quarter as they would have aa19-2 quarter behind some great defense and take the 31-4 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Eagles would find their offense and play with the Hornets, scoring 12 points, but the game was still 42-16 as they entered the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would again stay with the Hornets, 13-10, but the deficit would be too much, as the Hornets held on for the 52-29 victory.
