Moriah Vikings @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball December 20th 2022

Moriah's Logan Gilbo (22) with the mid-range jumper over Plattsburgh's Chase Laravia (22) as he went for the block. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets at 1-5 would host the Moriah Vikings at 2-0 in their last game before the Christmas break and the Hornets would be looking to build off their first win of the year from over the weekend. The game would start off well for the visiting Vikings as they would have an 18-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would stay tight although the Vikings would win the quarter slightly at 10-8 and take a 28-21 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same for the Vikings as the Hornets would do their best to stay within striking distance with a 14-9 quarter for the Vikings as they would have a 42-30 lead as they went into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the offenses would step up on both sides as the Vikings would win the quarter at 19-12 and secure the 61-42 win. In the winning effort, the Vikings would stay perfect on the season at 3-0 while the Hornets fall to 1-6 on the season. Gallery

Manchester Invitational Championship Pro Bull Riders (PBR) December 18th 2022

Jesse Petri leans back and stays in perfect form as he gets 89.25 on Mr. Excavatour to finish second on the weekend and goes to 11th the in the world rankings. It would be championship Sunday at the PBR Manchester Invitational as the top 35 riders in the world would get one more shot to fill in the top 12 spots in the short go to be crowned the weekend champion. It would be night number two of the PBR Manchester Invitational in front of another sellout crowd and it would take a ride of just 86.25 to get into finals including there would be 4 riders that would be perfect on the weekend (Cooper Davis, Jesse Petri, Andrew Alviderez and Marcus Mast). Then it would be onto to short go to settle a champion and it would go to Andrew Alvidrez with a 91.75 ride in the finals for a three-round total of 263.25 for the nine-point win over Jesse Petri and the 44 thousand dollars first-place check and take the three spot in the world rankings. Although he wouldn't win the event on the weekend Cooper Davis would take over the #1 spot in the world rankings with his top-six finish. The PBR will be back in action December 29th and 30th at the MVP Arena in Albany, NY for the fifth stop on tour and we will see who the newer riders are on top as the first cut of the season takes place after the Manchester Invitational weekend and if Cooper Davis can stay number one on the season. Manchester Invitational Round 1 Pro Bull Riders (PBR) December 17th 2022

Silvano Alves is taking Big Posion to school during the 1st round as he would get the 85.25 score putting him in the top 5. The PBR would make its annually return to the SNHU Arena in Manchester, NH as it would be the 4th stop on the 2022-23 Unleash the Beast Tour for the PBR and they would bring in the top 35 riders in the world to go for the title in front of another sold out crowd in there only northeast tour stop on the season. It would be the opening night of the show, and everyone would get one ride and when it would end there would be 16 riders that would make the 8 second whistle. There would be a tie at the top between Andrew Alvidrez and Eduardo Aparecido with a 87.25 ride. There would be a few riders that were making there a first appearance on the premiere tour after their showing in the early stages of the season on the Velocity tour. Gallery

Schroon Lake Wildcats Vs Seton Catholic Knights Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball December 15th 2022

Schroon Lake's (21) throws it up and lays it off the window for the score as Seton Catholic's Chole Lawliss (21) trails the play. It would be a contest inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Schroon Lake Wildcats in Girl's Basketball action. It would be a very physical game from the opening tip, and the Wildcats would have a slim 14-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defenses would regain supreme as the teams would combine for nine points in the quarter and the game would go into the intermission tie at 18. When the teams returned for the second half the Knights would bring their offense to the court and take control of the game with a 10-4 quarter and take the 28-22 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Wildcats would give it their best to get the game back in favor although they would come up short with a 12-8 quarter to give the Seton Catholic Knights the win at 36-34. In the winning effort, the Seton Catholic Knights go to 2-3 while the Schroon Lake Wildcats fall to 1-2. Gallery

Grand Island Vikings @ Beekmantown Eagles High School Boy's Hockey December 10th 2022

Beekmantown's Austin Dozier (31) with the glove save on the breakaway attempt on the net. The Beekmantown Eagles would be back in action as they would host the Grand Island Vikings from western New York in nonleague action. The Eagles would stay hot from the previous weekend. It wouldn't take long for the Eagles to get on the board, just 3:34, on a goal by Sam Bingel for the first period's lone goal. The Eagles would strike again just five minutes into the second period on a goal by Reagan Dudyak. Then, in the closing minutes of the period, the Eagles would take control of the game on Sam Bingel's second goal and give the Eagles the 3-0 lead. Then, a minute into the third period, the Eagles would strike again with Luke Moser's goal. Then the Eagles would finish scoring, and Keegan Rodier would score twice to close out the period and give them the 6-0 lead. Then, with four minutes left in the game, the Vikings would get on the board on Jamie Wright's goal to avoid the shutout and have a 6-1 final. In the winning effort, the Eagles would go to 3-0 on the season and be back in action the next day against the Kenmore East Bulldogs. Gallery

Kenmore East Bulldogs @ Saranac Chiefs High School Boy's Hockey December 10th 2022

Kenmore East's Tro Normandin (26) with the crunching hit behind the net on Saranac's Jonathan Roy (7). The Saranac Chiefs would get their 2022-23 season underway with a nonleague against the Kenmore East Bulldogs from western New York. The Bulldogs would get the scoring started at the 5:34 mark of the first period on the goal by Parker Cerkiewicz and take the 1-0 lead. Although the Chiefs would answer back in the final five minutes of the period with a goal by Zach O'Connell to tie the game at one. Although the Bulldogs would answer back in the final 90 seconds of the period and retake the one-goal lead at 2-1 on the goal by Dylan McDonald. Although the Chiefs would fight and tie the game at two in the closing seconds of the period on a goal by Adrian Barnes. The Bulldogs would come out swinging in the second period and take the 3-2 lead on the Austin Turnbull goal. Although with under five minutes left in the second period the Chiefs would score twice in 15 seconds from Landon Duprey and Brody Macomber and take the 4-3 lead into the third period. Just 3:50 into the third period would fight and tie the game at four on the goal by Troy Normandin. The Chiefs would not give up though and would regain the 5-4 lead with 3:30 left in the game on Zach O'Conell's second goal of the game. Although in the final minute of the game the Chief's defense would collapse and they would give two goals and the Bulldogs would get the 6-5 victory. Next up for the Chiefs would be the Grand Island Vikings as they look to right the ship. While the Kenmore East Bulldogs will go for the sweep on the weekend as they will face off with the Beekmantown Eagles. Gallery

Morrisville State Mustangs @ #9 Plattsburgh State Cardinals December 10th 2022

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals celebrate as Bennett Stockdale gets the game-winner with a minute left in the game. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would finish off the home portion of their 2022 season with a SUNYAC game against the Morrisville State Mustangs on the 3rd annual teddy bear toss night with 1750 fans in attendance. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game from Carson Gallagher at the 11:24 mark of the first period and the throwing of the bears would insure. That is where the game would stay til the 3:54 mark of the second when the Cardinals would score again from Mitchell Hale to take the 2-0 lead. Then just three minutes later the Cardinals would extend the lead to 3-0 on the Jake Lanyi goal. Although just twenty seconds later the Mustangs would get on the board with a Trevor Neumann goal and make it a 3-1 game. That is where the game would stay till the first minute of the third period when Jestin Somero would score for the Mustangs to make it a 3-2 game for the third. The Mustangs wouldn't give up and would tie the game halfway through the period with Trevor Neumann on his second goal of the game. Although the home Cardinals would keep peppering the Mustang goalie and would break down the wall with 59 seconds left in the game to get the game-winner from Bennett Stockdale and give the Cardinals the 4-3 win. In the winning effort, Elli Shiller would make 16 saves as they go to 8-3-2 on the season. The Cardinals will be back in action on January 6th as they take part in the Winter Classic with Oswego, Potsdam, and Wentworth. Gallery

Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball Boquet Valley Griffins @ Seton Catholic Knights December 9th 2022

Boquet Valley's Maddox Rice (21) rises up over Seton Catholic's Ashton Guay for the score. It would be the season opener for the Seton Catholic Knights as they would host the Boquet Valley Griffins in Mountain Valley Athletic Conference action. The first quarter would not go the way of the Knights as they were still feeling stuff out in the opener and would trail 13-2 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Knights would come alive and make a game of it with a 13-4 quarter and trail by a slim 17-15 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Griffins would find their game again, take the quarter 13-8 and the 30-23 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the defenses would step up and the Griffins would win the quarter by a slim 9-8 and secure the 39-31 victory. In the winning effort, the Griffins will stay perfect in the early season at 2-0 while the Knights fall to 1-1. Gallery

Beekmantown Eagles @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball December 8th 2022

Plattsburgh's Max Filosca (5) with the mid range jumper over Beekmantown's Nathan Parliament (23) for the score. It would be the home opener for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would take on crosstown rival the Beekmantown Eagles to get the home portion of their 2022-23 season underway and would like to right the ship as they lose the first couple on the road to start the season as for the Eagles they would come in 1-0. The game would start off tight as the Eagles would have a slim 16-12 lead after the game's first eight minutes. In the second quarter, the game would stay tight and the Hornets would fight to stay in the game as the Eagles would win the quarter 16-14 and take a 32-26 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles came out firing and it looked like the Hornets were having issues getting the game going again as the Eagles would win the third 20-12 and take the 52-38 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would stay on the gas and win the quarter 16-9 to secure the 68-47 win. In the winning effort, the Eagles will go to 2-0 while the Hornets fall to 0-3 and both teams are back in action next week. Gallery

Saranac Chiefs @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball December 13th 2022

Saranac's Caswell McCoy (2) with the three from the elbow over an outstretched Hornets defender for the score. It would be the battle of the Saranac river as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Chiefs in CVAC action as both teams were looking to get their first win of the season. The first quarter would definitely be a feeling-out period as it would be locked up at eight at the end of the first quarter. Although in the second quarter the Chiefs would start to find their stride as they would go on a 16-4 run for the quarter and take a 24-12 lead into the locker room. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Hornets would try their best to get back in the game with a run of their own in the quarter with a 15-8 quarter and trail 32-27 into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs would get back on track and hold the Hornets in check with an 11-10 quarter and secure the 43-37 victory. In the winning effort, Sebastian Dandrow-Pellerin would lead the way with 11 points as the Chiefs gets their first win of the season. As the Hornets would fall to 0-4 on the season and Cayden Williams would all scorers on the night with fifteen points. Gallery
