Plattsburgh State's Tessa Morris (24) comes in on a wrister trying to add to her earlier goal. The #7 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home for the first time since November 2nd, and this time, they would take on SUNYAc for the Buffalo State Bengals in front of 360 fans at the Ronnie B Stafford Ice Arena. The Cardinals would open the scoring on the power play with Kayson Ruegge's goal at the 13:37 mark of the first period. The Cardinals would waste little time extending their lead to 2-0 on Tessa Morris's goal 2 minutes later. The game would remain there till the 11:05 mark of the third period when Mae Olshansky would score for the Cardinals and make it a 3-0 game. Then, to finish off the scoring for the Cardinals, a minute later, Kate Conlon lights the lamp and makes it a 4-0, and that's where the game would finish. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Chloe Lewis would make nine saves on the day for the shutout, and the Cardinals would go to 4-1. The Cardinals will return to action next weekend at home as they will host the Cardinal Panther Classic and will take on St. Norbert. Gallery

SUNYAC Women's Hockey Championship: #2 Cortland State Red Dragons @ #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals March 2nd, 2024

It would be conference championship Saturday afternoon once again for the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals except this time they would be going after the first ever SUNYAC title as they would take on the #2 Cortland State Red Dragons in front of 1200 fans at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. It would be a very evenly contested game through the first period as both teams would have their chances but no one could get on the board. The game would finally get the first goal of the game at the 10:13 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead on the Mae Olshansky powerplay goal. The lead would be short-lived as the Cortland State Red Dragons would answer back just over three minutes later on the Mia Hisanick powerplay goal to tie the game at two. The game would remain there through the rest of the second period and all of the third period sending the first-ever crowning for the SUNYAC title into the overtime period. In the overtime we would have to answer quickly as Cortland State's Elena Eichmann would light the lamp just 2:33 into the overtime and the party would be on for the Cortland State Red Dragons as they would get their first-ever women's conference tournament title and head to the NCAA Tournament. In the winning effort, Molly Goergen would make 26 saves on the day as they go to 19-5-2. The season is not over though for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they will get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 21-4-2 mark on the season and both teams will find out their opponent when the bracket is announced Sunday evening. SUNYAC Women's Hockey Semi-Finals: #4 Morrisville State Mustangs @ #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals February 24th 2024

Plattsburgh State's Riley Calhoun (10) jammin away at the puck as she tries to get the Cardinals goal. It would be time for the playoffs in the first year of the SUNYAC Women's Hockey as the #1 seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #4 Morrisville State Mustangs in the semi-finals from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena with 570 passionate fans in attendance. The home Cardinals would waste little time getting out to the lead as they would take the 1-0 lead 5:40 into the game on the Julia Masotta goal. Then the Cardinals would expand their lead to 2-0 at the 10:31 mark of the period on Julia Masotta's second goal of the game. The game would stay there till the 3:30 mark of the second period when Ciara Wall would score on the powerplay to make it 3-0. Then with a second left in the period the Cardinals Julia Masotta would complete her hat trick to give the Cardinals the 4-0 lead after the second period. The game would stay there till there was 3:59 left in the game when Hailee Easson would score for the Mustangs to break up the shutout and make it a 4-1 game. However, the Cardinals would answer right back 57 seconds later to make it a 5-1 game and win on Julia Masotta's fourth goal of the afternoon. In the winning effort, the Cardinals advance to the first SUNYAC Women's Hockey Championship next weekend at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena against the Cortland State Red Dragons for the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Potsdam State's Magalie Parent (35) with one of her 49 saves on the day on the rebound chance from Claria Wall (34) in front of the net. It would be senior day at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena before the game with their fellow north country foe the Potsdam State Bears they would honor the outgoing senior class a class that would go to 4 straight NCAA Tournaments and have a couple frozen fours in front of 400 Cardinal fans. As for the game on the ice, the Cardinals would have the lone goal of the game with 39 seconds left in the first period from Mattie Norton. The Cardinals would have plenty of chances throughout the afternoon they just weren't able to light the lamp the rest of the night as Potsdam State's Maggie Parent would make 49 saves as the Cardinals would get the 1-0 victory. In the winning effort, Lilla Nease would make 17 saves as she would have another shutout on the season and go to 20-2-1 on the season. NCAA Division III Women's Hockey: Williams Ephs @ #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals January 27th, 2024

Plattsburgh State's Emily Kasprzak (22) splits defenders and takes it to the offensive zone for the shot. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Williams Ephs from the NESCAC in their last nonconference of the season at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of 400 loud fans. It would be a very evenly matched affair on a Saturday afternoon with both teams having their chances to take control of the game early. In the end, there would only be one goal scored on this Saturday afternoon with that going to Emily Kasprzak at the 5:22 mark of the second period. From there defense would be the name of the game with Lilla Nease making 31 saves for the shutout win as the Cardinals go to 19-2-1 on the season. The Cardinals will hit the road next weekend for a pair of games against Canton Kangaroos. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Lilla Nease (31) with the save on the pads as part of a 20-save performance in the winning effort. It would be a nonconference battle within the top ten of the country in women's hockey as the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 Middlebury Panthers at the Ronald Stafford Ice Arena in front of 350 fans in a midweek tilt. The game would be very tight through the first period both teams would have their chances to get on the board but the scoreboard would still be blank after the end of the period. In the second period, it would start the same. The Cardinals would break through and get the opening goal of the game at the 4:54 mark of the second period on a goal from Zsofia Pazmandi for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the last 100 seconds of the period when the Cardinals would take the 2-0 lead on the Ivy Boric goal. The Panthers would answer right back a minute later and get the game back within one on the Molly McQueen goal to make it a 2-1 game. In the winning effort for the Cardinals Lilla Nease would make 20 saves for the win as they go to 15-2-1 on the season and will be back in action at home this Saturday against Williams College. Plattsburgh State's Lila Nease (31) with the glove save as part of a 13-save night as she would have another shutout on the season. It would be the second game of a two-game series for the Buffalo State Bengals as they would travel to the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena to take on the #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals in SUNYAC Women's Hockey and celebrate the 43rd birthday of Burghy the Cardinals mascot. The game would be played very evenly through the first period as the Cardinals would have the lone goal of the period with just over two minutes left on the Emma McClean goal. However in the second period, the Cardinals would find their offense and they would go on a stretch of four goals in a span of 5:25 in the middle of the period with the goals coming from Mattie Norton, Emily Kasprzak, Mae Olshansky, and Taya Balfour and take the commanding 5-0 lead after the second period. From there defenses on both teams would stand tall as there was no scoring the rest of the game. However, that would not be for a lack of effort by the Cardinals as they would finish with a season-high 68 shots on net. The Cardinals go to 14-2-1 on the season and clinched the SUNYAC Women's Hockey first regular season title in conference history and Lila Nease would have another shutout. It will be a quick turnaround for the Lady Cardinals as they will be back in action Tuesday night in a non-conference tilt against long-time rival Middlebury in a game that was postponed a couple of weeks ago due to bad weather. Plattsburgh State's Aizah Thompson (4) puts it to the back of the net and beats the goalie for the score. The #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up the 2024 home portion of their schedule against SUNYAC for the Morrisville State Mustangs in front of 250 loyal fans. The Cardinals wouldn't waste time getting on the scoreboard just 35 seconds in on the Bridget Orr goal. The game would stay there till the 9:07 mark of the period when Kendall Wasik would score and make it a 2-0 game. Then with just over two minutes left in the period the Cardinals would get a third tally this time from Mattie Norton to make it a 3-0 Cardinal game. The Cardinals would keep it going in the second period when Ciara Wal would score four minutes in and make it a 4-0 game. Then about three minutes later Ivy Boric would get on the scoring sheet for the Cardinals to make it a 5-0 Cardinal lead. The game would stay there till the 3:57 mark of the third period when Mattie Norton would get her second of the night and make it a 6-0 game. Then with about seven minutes left in the game, the Mustangs would break up the Nease shutout on the Allie Davidson goal and make it a 6-1 game. With just under five minutes left in the game, Aizah Thompson would score to secure the 7-1 victory. In the winning effort, Lilla Nease would make 14 saves as the Cardinals go to 11-2-1 on the season. The same two teams will be back in action tomorrow to finish the two-game series. Gallery
