It would be the last game of the opening day of the Section VII Basketball Championships and it would feature #1 Saranac Spartans and the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars for the Class B Girl's championship. It would be a slow start for both teams as the Spartans would have a slim low-score lead of 6-4 after the first quarter. The offenses would start to wake up in the second quarter as the Spartans would have a 9-6 quarter and a 15-10 lead at the intermission. When the team returned for the third quarter it would be an even matchup with more scoring but the Spartans were still slightly better with a 14-13 quarter and took the 29-23. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars would try everything that they had to be able to get over on the Spartans and would outscore them 13-10 but it would not be enough as the Spartans would get the 39-36 victory. In the winning effort, the Spartans would end the Cougar's undefeated season and go to 19-3 on the season as Brenna Ducatte would lead the way with 13 points. With the win, the Saranac Spartans will enter the NYSPHSAA Class B Girl's State Tournament and will play the winner of Section II in the opening round on Wednesday. Gallery

Beekmantown's Olivia Hagadorn (12) with the three from the corner as part of a four-point afternoon. It would be the opening game of Section VII Basketball Championship weekend from the campus of Clinton Community College and it would feature #1 Beekmantown Eagles and #2 Peru Nighthawks in the Girl's Class A Finals. The Nighthawks would come into the game with upset on their mind and in the first quarter they would show it with a 10-4 quarter. In the second quarter, it would be the complete opposite as the Eagles would settle and their offense would come as they would win the quarter 10-3 and have a slim 14-13 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the teams would play very evenly as the game would be tied at 26 as they head into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter the Eagles would have a 16-10 quarter as there would be over a third of the points scored in just that quarter along the Eagles would get the come-from-behind victory at 42-36. It would be a matchup inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference of Section VII Girl's Basketball in Plattsburgh as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Boquet Valley Griffins in a rematch of the Section VII Class D Finals from a year ago that took place about 5 miles down the road. The game would be low-scoring through the opening eight minutes as the home Knights would have the 9-8 lead. In the second quarter, the scoring would stay low as the defense would still stand tall as the Griffins would win the quarter 9-6 and take the 17-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be another great defensive quarter as the Knights would get the 6-5 quarter but the Griffins would still have the 22-21 lead as they went to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, there would be a milestone that would be reached as Ella Lobdell would be the newest member of the 1,000-point club and from there it would seem like both teams had a major weight lifted off them as the Griffins would end up winning the quarter 16-11 which would be half the team's points in that quarter alone. The Griffins would get the 38-32 win and go to 12-7 on the season as they head into the playoffs as the Knights fall to 9-11 on the season. Gallery

Saranac's McHenna Brown (2) goes in on the breakaway and lays it off the window for the score. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference in Plattsburgh tonight as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #10 Saranac Spartans in girls' basketball action. The Spartans would show off why they are the tenth team in the state as they would get off to a quick start and take the 19-7 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the home Hornets would do their best to keep the game where it is as the Spartans would have a 17-13 quarter and take the 36-20 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half and the third quarter the Hornets would try and get back in the game with a 13-11 quarter but the Spartans would still have the 47-33 lead as they would go into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would leave little to decide the game as they would outscore the Hornets 18-6 and take the 65-39 win. With the win the Spartans will go to 15-2 on the season as they head into their matchup next week with the Peru Nighthawks as the Plattsburgh Hornets fall to 8-9 on the season. Gallery

Seton Catholic's Grace Trombley (12) takes flight for the layup off the backboard as part of a game-high 12 points. It would be a matchup inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference in Plattsburgh as the Bolton Jaguars would travel up to take on the Seton Catholic Knights in Girl's Basketball action. It would be a slow start out of the gate as the Seton Catholic Knights would hold just the 8-1 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the offense would start to heat out for the Knights as they would have a 10-4 quarter and take the 18-5 lead into the intermission. When the teams return for the third quarter, the defenses will stay on top, as the Knights will have an 8-4 quarter and take the 26-9 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, with it looking like the Knights would have the game in hand, the Jaguars would do their best to get back in the game with an 11-8 quarter, but the nights would hold on for the 34-20 victory. In the winning effort, the Seton Catholic Knights return to 500 on the season as they are now 9-9, while the Bolton Eagles suffer just their third loss and are 14-3.
