#8 Lisbon Golden Knights Vs #10 Moriah Vikings March 11th 2026
The Lisbon Golden Knights celebrate after defeating the Moriah Vikings 32-30 and advancing to the Quarterfinals on Saturday against Greenwich. It would be the opening round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Girls' Basketball Tournament. We would have a battle inside the top ten as the #8 Lisbon Golden Knights from Section X would do battle with the #10 Moriah Vikings from Section VII at the Florence Gym at Clinton Community, with the winner advancing to Section II in the Quarterfinals. It would be a defensive battle to start the game, as both teams looked to control the paint on defense. The Golden Knights would have a slim 10-8 lead after the first quarter. It would stay low-scoring through the second quarter as well, but the Vikings would win the quarter 7-6, and the Golden Knights would have the 16-15 lead at intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would remain a defensive battle, and the Golden Knights would have an 8-7 quarter and take the 24-22 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, both teams would have chances to win and advance, but they would tie the quarter at 8, and the Golden Knights would get the 32-30 victory and go to the Quarterfinals. In the Golden Knights' victory, they went to 18-5, with Allison Bell leading the way with 19 points, as they head to the quarterfinals against Greenwich. #9 Peru Nighthawks Vs #12 Saranac Spartans March 4th 2026
The Peru Nighthawks would win the 2026 Section VI Big Schools Champions Challenge 47-41 win overthe Saranac Spartans. It would be the second game of the 2026 Section VII Champions Challenges at Clinton Community College, featuring the #9 Peru Nighthawks and the #12 Saranac Spartans as they go after the title of the best of the big schools. The Nighthawks would start great, they look to continue their storied season with a 19-7 quarte In the second quarter, the Spartans would get their shot, and their defense would be right three as they would double up the Nighhawks with a 12-6 quarter, but would trail 25-19 at the intermission When the teams would return for the third quarter the Spartans defense would still be there as they would have a 8-5 quarter with a 30-27 Nighthawks lead as they enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the offense for both teams would have an answer, but the Nighhawks would stand tall with a 17-14 quarter to secure the 47-41 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks' Bella Berry would lead the way with 15 points as they go to 17-2 on the season. It would be the first game of the second annual Section VII Champions Challenge, and it would feature a pair of top-15 teams in their own class, as the #7 Moriah Vikings would meet the #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats. The Vikings would come out on fire and jump out to a big lead, as they had a 20-3 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Wildcats would find their shot and go toe-to-toe with the Vikings, winning the quarter 13-12, but they would still trail 32-16 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Vikings came out with the better start, outscoring the Bears 13-8 and taking a 45-24 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Wildcats would do their best to get back in the game, but the deficit would just be too much as they would have an 18-12 quarter, but the Vikings would get a 57-42 victory. In the Vikings' winning effort, Emmy Nephew led the way with 19 points, as they improved to 17-3 on the season. The Peru Nighthawks are crowned the 2026 Section VII Class A Champions with a 55-30 victory over the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be the final game of the 2026 Section VII Basketball Championship weekend at the Florence Gym at Clinton Community College, with the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles for the Girls' Class A title. The Nighthawks would come out on fire as they would jump out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter. They would keep it going in the second quarter, scoring 14-6 and taking a 28- 0 lead into the locker room. When they came out of the locker room, it would be more of the same for the Nighthawks with a 17-7 quarter as they would stand at 45-17 as they entered the fourth. In the 4th quarter, the Nighthawks would go into cruise mode, and the Eagles would win the quarter 13-10, but the Nighthawks would hold on for the 55-30 victory.
