The game would be tight through the first quarter as both teams were feeling each other out and were tied at 10. In the second quarter, though, we would see the true Nighthawks come out, as they would have a 21-7 quarter to take a convincing 31-17 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the second half, the Hornets would do their best to keep it close, but they couldn't get any closer, as the Nighthawks led 20-15 at halftime and secured the 51-32 victory. It would be a return to Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action, as we are in the last month of the season, and teams are starting to make that playoff push. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host crosstown rival Beekmantown Eagles in girls' basketball action. The game started well for the home Hornets, who jumped out to a 12-2 lead after the first quarter. The Hornets would keep their foot on the gas in the second quarter as they would have aa19-2 quarter behind some great defense and take the 31-4 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Eagles would find their offense and play with the Hornets, scoring 12 points, but the game was still 42-16 as they entered the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would again stay with the Hornets, 13-10, but the deficit would be too much, as the Hornets held on for the 52-29 victory. It would be the third game of the day in the 2026 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, featuring the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Plattsburgh Hornets, as the Hornets would look to win both on the week. The game would get off to a great start for the Hornets, who ran out to a 25-3 lead before the break. In the second half, the Griffins would do their best to get back in the game, but their slow start would kill them, as the Hornets would get the 35-19 victory. In the winning effort, the Hotnets would go 2-0 but finish second to the Saranac Spartans on point difference. It would be the third game of the day from the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, and girls would be back on the court this time as the Plattsburgh Hornets would challenge the Malone Huskies. The game would be slow out of the gate, as defense would be the name of the game, as the Hornets would hold the slim 4-3 lead after the first eight minutes. In the second quarter, there would be a bit more offense, but defense would still be tough as the Hornets would have an 8-6 quarter and take the 12-9 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, they were re-grouped, and the offenses would be on display as the Huskies took the quarter 17-13 and the slim 26-25 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, the game would come right down to the wire, and the Huskies couldn't get a rebound to have a chance down the stretch, as the Hornets would win the quarter 6-4 and secure the 31-30 victory. In the winning effort for the Hornets, Ava Weiss led the way with 11 points as the Hornets got back to 500 at 3-3 on the season. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the #14 Moriah Vikings would travel up to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets in a late-season tilt. The game would start well for the Vikings as their defense would be up to the task, and they would jump out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter. It would be more of the same in the second quarter as they would hold the Hornets to nine points while getting another 15 for themselves to take the 29-14 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would regroup themselves, come out on fire, and take the third 12-7 to tighten up the game at 36-26 as they entered the fourth quarter. It would be the tightest in the fourth quarter as the Hornets would get the quarter 12-10, although the Vikings would hold on for the 46-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Vikings, they would go to 15-4 on the season as they head into their final regular season game next Tuesday against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. As for the Plattsburgh Hornets, they fall to 6-14 as they finish their season, head to the Section VII Class A Playoffs, and take on the Beekmantown Eagles in the semi-finals. Gallery
