Beekmantown's (33) makes the shoulder save on the shot from the top of the zone in the winning effort. It would be the season opener for the annual powerhouse of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Beekmantown Eagles as they would host the Niskayuna Mohawks. The Eagles would come out in the first period and take quick control of the game as they would score five goals Zach Lapier (three) and Sam Bingel (twice) while the Mohawks would get a lone goal as the Eagles would take the 5-1 lead into the first intermission. In the second period it would be the same as the first as the Eagles would dominate again with another five-goal period from Louis Sweenor (twice), Zach Lapier, Sam Bingel, and Keegin Rodier while the Mohawks would another one as the Eagles would take a 10-2 lead into the third period. In that third period, the Eagles would another three goals with help from Sam Bingel and Zach Lapier as the Eagles would cruise to the 13-3 win. In the win, the Beekmantown Eagles would start their season 1-0 while the Niskayuna Mohawks would fall to 0-2 on the year. As for the Beekmantown Eagles, they will be back in action next weekend as they take on Grand Island and Kenmore East. Gallery

It would be the second night of a two game weekend for the Hornets to start the season as they would play host to the Mohawks from Niskayuna. The two teams would be very evenly matched throughout the afternoon and both teams would take there chance at getting that opening goal of the game. Although it would be a single goal scored the whole afternoon coming from Hutch Ovios in the closing seconds of the second period. The Hornets would add an empty net goal in the last minute of the game to secure the 2-0 victory. In the winning effort the Hornets finish off the opening weekend at 2-0 while the Mohawks fall to 0-2 on the season. Gallery

The Lasalle defender would knock Beekmantown's Seamone (6) off the puck as he charged down the ice for the offensive zone. The Beekmantown Eagles would look to continue their hot start with another home contest against the Lasalle Cadets in nonconference action. The Eagles would get off to a fast start as they would get two goals in the opening period and take the 2-0 lead. When the second period came around, they would continue their hot hand as they added another two goals, both coming from Sam Bingel to take the 4-0 lead into the third period. In the third period, the Eagles would not let up having the big lead headed in as they would get three more goals two coming from Zack LaPier and one from Louis Sweenor to secure the 7-0 win for the Eagles. With the win, the Eagles go to 2-0 on the season and are yet to give up a goal after two shutout victories. Gallery

Plattsburgh's (22) stuffs it from the tight angle for the Hornet's goal to keep them in the game. It would be the opening afternoon of the high school hockey season for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would host the Niskayuna Mohawks from section II at the Ameri-Can North Sports Center. The visiting Mohawks would get the opening goal of the game just 2:20 in from Max Kenny for the 1-0 lead. Then with just about three minutes left in the period the Mohawks and Kenny would score again for the 2-0 lead to end the period. The Hornets would come out on fire in the second period and make it a one-goal game on the Brayden Calkins goal. The Hornets would keep coming and tie the game up just two minutes later. The game would stay tied for most of the period but the Mohawks would regain the one-goal lead at 3-2 on the Luca Coppola goal with just under five minutes left in the period. In the third period the offenses on both teams would come alive as they would combine for five goals with the Mohawks winning the period 3-2 scoring for the Mohawks would be Jackson Rumsey and Jack Clark (twice) as the Mohawks got the 6-4 victory. In the win, the Niskayuna Mohawks start the season 1-0 while the Plattsburgh Hornets start at 0-1. It would be the opening night of the 2022-23 Boy's Hockey season and the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Lasalle Cadets at the AC North arena. It would be a very even game throughout to the point that there was no scoring in the first period of the game. The Cadets would get the opening goal of the game at the 4:44 mark of the second period to take the 1-0 lead. The game would remain there till the 2:16 mark of the third period when the Hornets would tie the game on the Braeden Calkins goal. The Hornets would keep the charge going and take the 2-1 lead with about ten minutes left in the game on Braeden Calkins on his second goal of the night. The Cadets would not go quietly though as they would tie the game with six minutes left and that is where the regulation would end. The teams would play a five-minute overtime with no resolution and the game would end in a 2-2. With the tie the teams start their season at 0-0-1 an Owen Chappel would make 32 saves on 34 shots on the night. The Hornets will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against Niskayuna while Lasalle will take on the Beekmantown Eagles. Gallery

Wisconsin River Falls' Sami Miller (33) with the save on the scramble in front to secure the win on a 24 save night. It would be the opening game of the 2022 Buster's Sports Bar and Grill Cardinal/Panther Classic and it would feature the home #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals taking on #6 Wisconsin River Falls Falcons at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The invading Falcons would get the opening goal of the game at the 7:33 mark of the first period on the Bailey Olson goal. The game would stay there all the way to the 5:44 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would get the equalizer off the stick Sara Krauseneck. Then with under four minutes left in the period the Cardinals would get the lead on the Riley Calhoun goal. Although the lead would be short lived as Maddie McCollins would come down on the break away and beat the Cardinal goalie with ten seconds left in the period and tie the game back up at two. Then at the Falcons will retake the lead at the 6:52 mark of the third period on the Aubrey Nelvin goal. From there the Falcons would hold onto the 3-2 lead for the win. In the winning effort the Falcons go to 7-1 on the season while the Cardinals suffer their first loss of the season and go to 7-1. With the win the Falcons head to the championship game of the Busters Cardinal/Panther Classic against the winner of the Middlebury Panthers and the Elmira Soaring Eagles. Gallery

It would be the second game of the 2022 Buster's Cardinal/Panther Classic and it would feature the top ranked Middlebury Panthers and the #4 Elmira Soaring with the winner advancing to the championship tomorrow to take on the upset minded #6 Wisconsin River Falls. The game would start off good for the #1 team in the country as they would get the opening goal of the game at the 12:45 mark of the first period as Britt Nawrocki would light the lamp at the 12:45 mark of the first period and give the Panthers the 1-0 lead. That is where the game would stay till the 4:24 mark of the second period when Panthers would strike on the powerplay and give them the 2-0 lead on Britt Nawrocki's second goal of the game. The Soaring Eagles would keep fighting though and they would eventually get on the board at the 5:08 mark of the third period and make it a one goal game again on the Elizabeth Lepage goal. Although the one goal lead would be short lived as the Panthers would regain the two goal lead at 3-1 at the 8:09 mark by Maddie Bayard. From there the Panthers defense would hold the Eagles in check and give them there first lose of the season. In the winning effort Sophia Meregeas would make 23 saves as they advance to the finals and will take on the #6 Wisconson River Falls Falcons to be crowned the 2022 Busters Cardinal/Panthers Classic champion. There would be a spot in the final four on the line today at the Ausable Valley Central School as the #9 Peru Nighthawks would take on the #11 Ravena Indians in the Northern Regional finals of the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament. The Indians would get the first score of the game at the 9:29 mark of the first quarter on a 56 yard strike to Dominik Paljusak and take a 6-0 lead. The game would stay there til the 2:38 mark of the second quarter when the Indians would score again on a 4 yard run by Aidan Locher and take the 14-0 lead. With about a 1:30 left in the half the Indians would start to pull away in the game as Dominik Paljusak would get his second touchdown of the game and make it a 20-0 lead. Although with 30 seconds left in the half the Nighthawks would get on the board to breakup the rush by the Indians on a 22 yard hook and ladder play and make it 20-7 game at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the defenses would stand tall in the third quarter. The next score would come at the 3:29 mark of the fourth quarter on a 18 yard run by Aidan Locher and take a 28-7 lead. The Nighthawks would have another halfway through the quarter on a 1 yard run by Jack Hanson and make it a 28-13 game. Ravena would answer back with three minutes left in the game on a score by Frankie Broadhurst from 35 yards out and take a 35-13 lead. Although the Nighthawks answer right back with 2:42 left on Jack Hanson's run for a 35-19 game. From there the Indians defense would hold on for the victory. In the winning effort the Ravena season will contuine next week as they will travel to middletown for the final four and will take on the undefeated Pleasantville and the Nighthawks season comes to end at 10-1 Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Chole Bleaubein (29) with the glove save as she would have nine save in the shutout. It would be the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals hosting the Buffalo State Bengals in the Northeast Women's Hockey League at the Stafford Ice Arena. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would get off to the quick 1-0 lead on a goal from Nicole Unsworth at the 2:12 mark of the first period. Then at the 8:36 mark of the period the Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 on the Ivy Boric goal. Then to finish off the scoring in the opening period Julia Masotta would light the lamp at the 15:34 mark on the powerplay to take a 3-0 to end the first period. To start the second period Ivy Boric would get her second goal of the game just 1:31 into the period for the 4-0 lead. Then at the 7:13 mark of the second period Clara Wall would score on the powerplay for the 5-0 lead. From there defense would be the name of the game as the Cardinals would get the 5-0 victory as they go to 6-0 on the season as the Bengals fall to 0-5. Gallery

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would contuine there homestand as they would host the Fredonia State Blue Devils in SUNYAC play. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game at the 7:14 mark of the first period when Jake Lanyi would find the back of the night for the 1-0 lead. That would be where the game would stay all the way til the 3:14 mark of the third period when Adam Tretowicz would find the net on a breakaway for the shorthanded goal and the 2-0 Cardinals lead. Then the Cardinals would add a third goal at the 12:09 mark of the period from Josh Belgrave for the 3-0 lead and that is where the game would finish. In the winning effort Eli Shiller would make 23 saves as they go to 4-1-2.
