Plattsburgh State's Brannon Butler with the goal about halfway through the third for the 3-1 lead. It would be the second game of the Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic and it would see the Rivier Raiders taking on the host #5 Plattsburgh State Cardinals in front of 1300 fans in Cardinal County. The Cardinals would waste no time as they would get the quick 1-0 lead just 18 seconds into the game on the Colin Callanan goal. The game would stay there till the 9:47 mark of the period when the Raiders would tie the game on the powerplay on their first shot of the game from Cormac Hayes. The Cardinals would have an answer though and retake the lead at 2-1 about 3:30 later Simon Singher's first NCAA goal made it 2-1 Cardinals. The game would stay there through the second period as there was no scoring. The Cardinals would fight and get the two-goal lead on the goal by Brannon Butler goal to take the 3-1 lead at the 8:04 mark. In the closing stages of the period the Cardinals would at the empty netter on the Ryan Butler goal to secure the 4-1 win. In the winning effort, Eli Shiller would make 18 saves as the Cardinals go to 11-2 on the season and will play the Albertus Magnus for the Cardinal Classic title tomorrow. Albertus Magnus (30) Logan Bateman with the pad save as part of a 28-save night in the win. It would be the opening game of the 2024 edition of the Comfort Inn Winter Classic and it would see the Albertus Magnus Falcons face off against the Nazareth Golden Flyers of the United Collegiate Hockey Conference in front of 700 fans. The Falcons would get the opening goal in the battle of the birds from Tim Manning just 3:57 into the game. The Falcons would keep the pedal down and take the 2-0 lead at the 10:08 mark of the first on the Sam Anderson goal. Then with just about 3:30 left in the period, Blake Frost would get the Flyers on the board and make it a 2-1 game. However, the Falcons would get the two-goal right back to a two-goal game with a 3-1 lead just 90 seconds later on the Caden Patterson goal. The Falcons would come out firing in the second period and score just 12 seconds into the game on the Tyler Ignazzitto to make it 4-1. The game would stay there till the midway point of the third when the Flyers Johnny Jackson goal to make it 4-2 down the stretch. In the winning effort for the Falcons Logan Bateman would make 28 saves as they get the 4-2 win. With the win, the Albertus Magnus will play the winner of the Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the Rivier Raiders while the Nazareth Golden Flyers get the loser in the consolation game. Gallerya

The Saranac Spartans and Plattsburgh Hornets would come together after the game for a group photo in honor of the McLane family. It would be a game tonight between the Saranac Spartans and Plattsburgh Hornets in Boy's Hockey but tonight it would be more than just a hockey game as it would be Frozen Hopes to help with brain cancer research along with in memory of Aimee McLane the mom of goalie Sean McLane that would pass just a couple days before the game. As for the game on ice, it would take till the late stages of the first period before the opening goal when Declan Baker would score for the Spartans and make it 1-0. Then with under a minute left in the period the Spartans would expand the lead to 2-0 on the Landon Duprey goal. Then just 3:08 into the second period the Spartans would start to take control of the game at 3-0 on the Landon Giroux goal. Then just about 90 seconds later the Spartans would make it 4-0 and take control of the game on the Gabriel Moore goal. Then at the 6:46 mark of the period the Hornets would get on the board and make it a 4-1 game. The game would stay there till the 2:23 mark of the third period when the Hornets would score again and make it a 4-2 game. The Spartans would answer back with two straight goals from Nolan Miner and regain their four-goal lead at 6-2. However, the Hornets would do their best to keep it a game as they would get two goals from Darren Patchen and Barden Calkins to make it a 6-4 game with 7 minutes left in the game. From there the Spartans would hold on and get the 6-4 win and go to 3-3-1 on the season but more importantly on this night getting the win for the McLane family. The Spartans will be right back on the ice as they travel to Rouses Point and take on the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in another CVAC game. Gallery.

#16 Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks Vs #20 Clarkson Golden Knights November 29th 2024

The Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks are crowned the 2024 and second annual Adirondack Winter Invitional presented by Golden Arrow Lakeside Resorts champions in a goal differential against the Providence Friars. It would be the final game of the 2nd annual Adirondack Winter Invitational presented by Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, and it would feature a matchup of a pair of top 20 teams as the #16 Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks and the #20 Clarkson Golden Knights from the Lake Placid Olympic Center Herb Brooks Arena. It would take till the last minute of the period before we had our first game goal. Still, both teams would score within ten seconds of each other as Connor Eddy would get his third goal of the season for the Riverhawks, and Ryan Richardson would get his 5th of the year for the Golden Knights, and the period would end tied at one. The Golden Knights would take the lead in the game at the 8:32 mark of the second period on Ray Fust's first goal for the 2-1 lead. However, the Riverhawks would answer right back and tie the game at two 17 seconds later on the Mirko Buttazzoni second of the season. Then, just 90 seconds after that, the Riverhawks would regain the lead at 3-2 on Matt CCrasa'sthird of the season. The Golden Knights would keep fighting and tie the game up again on Ryan Richardson's second goal with 4:09 left in the second period to end the second period tied at four. When the teams returned for the third period, both would be looking for the go-ahead goal, but the Riverhawks would be the ones that would get the 4-3 lead with just under ten minutes left on Owen Cole's fifth of the season. The Golden Knights would not be denied on this day as they would tie it up again, this time on the Ellis Rickwood goal, his third of the season, and from there, the game would head to overtime. In the three-on-three overtime, both teams would have their chances. Still, no one would be able to light the lamp, and the game would officially go as a 4-4 tie, but because of the weekend tournament, a winner would be needed, which would be the Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks on the eighth round of the shootout. Henry Welsch would make saves in the winning effort for the Riverhawks, and they went to10-on the three seasons. #13 Arizona State Sun Devils Vs #17 Cornell Big Red December 30th, 2023

The Arizona State Sun Devils have been crowned the inaugural Adirondack Winter Invitational champions in a shootout win over the Cornell Big Red. It would be the championship of the first ever Adirondack Winter Invitational and it would pit a pair of top 20 teams in the country to battle it out at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY with 3,800 in attendance the #13 Arizona State Sun Devils would face off against the #17 Cornell Big Red. It would take till there were five minutes left in the opening period before we had our first goal from Cornell's Gabriel Seger on the powerplay for the 1-0 Big Red lead. Then in the second period, just 4:55 into the period the Big Red would take the 2-0 lead on the George Fegaras would score for the Big Red and give them a 2-0 lead. However, the Sun Devils would answer right back 17 seconds later to keep it a one-goal game at 2-1 on the Jackson Nieermayer goal. The game would stay there till the 43-second mark of the third period when the Sun Devils would tie the game up on the powerplay with the goal from Matthew Kopperud. That would be all on this night though as the goalies would stand tall between the pipes for the rest of the way there would be scoring in the rest of the third period and the five-minute overtime so the game goes in the books as a tie. However, because of the Adirondack Winter Invitational, the teams would go to the shootout and there the Arizona State Sun Devils would win the first-ever tournament 1-0 in the shootout. Arizona State's Tj Semptimphelter would make 25 saves while Cornell's Ian Shane would 18 in this evenly matched game now will just wait and see if the Arizona State Sun Devils will get the invite back to see if they can defend their title. #19 Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks Vs St. Lawrence Saints November 29th 2024

Massachusetts Lowell's Beni Halasaz (33) made the save on the scramble in front to keep the shutout in the closing minutes of the game. It would be the opening game of the 2024 edition of the Adirondack Winter Invitational from the famed Herb Brooks Arena, and it would feature a matchup between hockey east and ECAC foes as the #16 Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks would face against the St. Lawrence Saints. There would be no scoring through the opening twenty minutes of the game as the teams were feeling each other out in the opening period. The Mass Lowell would finally break through in the second period and get the game's opening goal at the 11:25 mark from Dillan Bentley for the 1-0 lead, and that's where the game would be at the end of the second period. When the teams returned for the third period, both teams had a chance to tie the game up or take control of it, but both goalies were up to the challenge. The Riverhawks would get an empty netter goal in the final minute from Scott Trurman to give them the 2-0 victory. For the Riverhawks, Beni Halasaz would make 20 saves in the shutout victory as they go to 10-3 on the season and will play the Clarkson Golden Knights tomorrow at the end of the tournament. As for the Saints, Mason Kucenski would make 28 saves on 29 shots as they fall to 4-10 on the season and will have a matchup tomorrow with the #10 Providence Firares, Gallery

#11 Massachusetts Minutemen Vs #17 Cornell Big Red December 29th 2023

Cornell's Ian Shane (30//0 with the pad save on Massachusetts' Aydar Suniev (16) to secure the Big Red win. It would be the opening game of the first-ever Adirondack Winter Invitational from the famed Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY and it would feature a couple of powerhouses as the #11 Massachusetts Minutemen would face off with the #17 Cornell Big Red. The game would be very physical through the first period and the rest of the game as there would be no scoring in the first but both teams would have their chances to get the opening goal and the Minutemen had an early goal waved off on the coach's challenge. In the second period, the Big Red would get the opening goal just 2:52 on Hoyt Stanley's first NCAA goal. However, the Minutemen would come charging back and tie the game up at one just four minutes later at the 6:08 mark of the period from Michael Cameron. The Big Red would regain the lead with just over five minutes left in the period on the Dalton Bancroft powerplay goal. The game would stay there through most of the third period until the Minutemen would pull the goalie for the extra stake and tie the game up on the scramble play from Ryan Lautenbach. From there the game would head to the five-minute 3x3 overtime and there would be no scoring so the game would officially end in a tie. Because this was a tournament weekend the shootout would be needed to decide the games tomorrow and the Cornell Big Red would win 2-0. In the winning effort for the Big Red, Ian Shane would make 23 saves as the Cornell Big Red head to the finals tomorrow where they will get the winner of #13 Arizona State Sun Devils and the Clarkson Golden Knights. #13 Arizona State Sun Devils Vs Clarkson Golden Knights December 29th 2023

It would be the second semi-final game of the Adirondack Winter Invitational and it would see the #13 Arizona State Sun Devils taking on the Clarkson Golden Knights in front of 4100 fans at the famed Herb Brooks Arena. The game would start well for the Golden Knights would get the opening goal of the game and the lone goal of the first period from Jesse Tucker at the 8:24 mark of the period for the 1-0 Knights lead. The game would stay there till the 5:27 mark of the second period when Ellis Rickwood would stretch the lead to 2-0 Knights. The Sun Devils would finally get on the board at the 9:14 mark of the period on the Jackson Niedermayer goal to cut the lead to 2-1. Then just 46 seconds into the third period the Sun Devils would tie the game at two on the short-handed goal by Charle Schoen. Then with just over minutes left in the game the Sun Devils would come back and take the lead on the Kyle Smolen goal. Then to put the icing on the cake the Sun Devils would add a pair of empty net goals from Tyler Gratton and Kyle Smolen and secure the 5-2 win. In the winning effort, Tj Semptimpheter would make 20 saves as they advance to the championship game tomorrow against the #17 Cornell Big Red. As for the Golden Knights will head to the consolation game behind Austin Roden's 21-save night and take on #11 Massachusetts in the Consolation game. Gallery

#11 Massachusetts Minutemen Vs Clarkson Golden Knights December 30th 2023

Clarkson's Ryan Taylor (28) sneaks it past Massachusetts Cole Brady (34) for the game-winning goal in overtime. It would be the third-place game of the first-ever Adirondack Winter Invitational and it would feature the #11 Massachusetts Minutemen and the Clarkson Golden Knights at the famed Herb Brooks Arena with a crowd of 3600 in attendance. The Minutemen would strike first just 4:48 into the game on the goal from Michael Cameron to get them off to the quick 1-0 lead. The Golden Knights would keep swinging through the rest of the period and would tie the game with 1:44 left in the period on the Ryan Taylor goal. However, the Minutemen would start the second period strong again and take the lead again 4:33 into the period on the Kenny Connors goal to make it 2-1. Then just about four minutes later at the 8:49 mark of the period the Minutemen would expand their lead to 3-1 on the Cole O'Hara goal. Once again the Golden Knights would come back swinging and make it a one-goal game at 3-2 on the Mathieu Gosselin goal with 6:09 left in the period. Then with 1:26 left in the period, the Golden Knights would tie the game at three on the Ayrton Martino goal. Then when the teams returned for the third period the Golden Knights took the 4-3 lead just 42 seconds into the period on an Anthony Romano short-handed goal. The Minutemen would not go away without a fight and they would tie the game at 4 on the Linden Alger goal with 11:30 left in the game. Although neither team would be able to get the edge before the end of the period and the teams went to overtime. Then with 2:39 left in the extra frame Ryan Taylor would light the lamp to send the Golden Knight faithful home happy with a 5-4 upset win over #11 Massachusetts Minutemen. Peru Nighthawks Vs Seton Catholic Knights December 28th 2023

Peru's Kobe Harris (24) with the block on the pass attempt by Seton Catholic's Oliver Hughes (10) as he attempts to break the trap. It would be the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the opening game would see the Peru Nighthawks taking on the Seton Catholic Knights. The Nighthawks would start the game well and would be doubling up the Knights by the end of the first quarter with a 12-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would keep up the fight and keep it close as the Nighthawks would win the quarter but only 12-8 and take a 24-14 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the third quarter the offense for the Nighthawks would step up and they would start to pull away with a 17-6 quarter take a 41-20 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would do their best not to let the deficit get any worse as the Nighthawks would have a 14-12 quarter and secure the 55-32 win. In the winning effort, Kobe Harris would lead the way with 14 points as the Nighthawks would get their first win of the season and go to 1-4 on the season while the Knights fell to 1-5. Gallery
