It would be week 6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Spartans as part of their homecoming weekend and their last home game of the regular season. The game would start slow, with no scoring in the first quarter. The Spartans would get the game's opening score 32 seconds into the second quarter on a River Poulin 9-yard run for the 6-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 9:14 mark of the quarter when the Hornets would block the Spartan's punt attempt, and it would roll out the back of the endzone for the Hornet's safety, making it a 6-2 game. Then, in the final 30 seconds of the half, the Hornets would take the lead on a 29-yard strike to Braeden Calkins and take the 8-6 lead to the locker room. The Spartans would not go quietly and retake the lead at 14-8 on a 1-yard run by River Poulin to take the lead 14-8 at the 2:11 mark. Then, at the 6:11 mark of the third quarter, the Spartans would extend their lead to 22-8 on the 2-yard run by Zack Lucia. In the closing minutes of the third, the Hornets would cut the lead in half on the Dominic Deangelo score to make it 22-16 game. The game would stay there till the 5:48 mark of the fourth when Dominic Deangelo would score again, this time on a 56-yard pass and catch to make it a 22-22 game coming down the stretch. Then, with 12 seconds left in the game, the Hornets would drive down, hit Braeden Calkins for the 2-yard pass, and get the 28-22 victory. In the winning effort, the Plattsburgh Hornets go to 4-2 on the season as they head into their road game against the Beekmantown Eagles next weekend. It would be week #6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football season, and the Peru Nighthawks would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm from the Apple Bow. The Peru Nighthawks would get off to a quick start and have a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter on the Red Storm. The Nighthawks would keep the pedal down as they would get a 6-yard score from Landon Wilkins at the 3:15 mark and make it a 28-0 game. Then the Red Storm would get on the board with 1:53 left in the half on a 46-yard scoop and score of the Red Storm, making it a 28-7 game. Then, with 1- seconds left in the half, the Red Storm would score again on a 6-yard run to make it a 28-14 game as they head to the intermission. With under four minutes left in the third, the Nighthawks would extend the lead to 34-14 on a 1-yard run by Wyatt Bridges to make it 34-14. The game would stay there till the three-minute mark of the fourth when Carpenter would score on a 56-yard pass and catch it, making it a 41-14 game. Then, with 2:40 left in the game, Landon Wilkins would break off a big 73-yard run for the score and take the 48-14 victory, and from there, they would hold on for the win. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks go to 3-2 in the season as they will host the Ausable Valley Patriots next weekend. Meanwhile, the Saranac Lake Red Storm would fall to 2-3 during the season as they will travel to Saranac and take on the Spartans next weekend. Gallery

It would be week #6 of the Champlain Vallery Athletic Conference Football season, and it would see the Moriah Vikings traveling up to Beekmantown and taking on the #25 Beekmantown Eagles as the Eagles would look to continue their winning ways. The Eagles would get the scoring going in the first quarter at the 8:14 mark on the 43-yard run by Parker Broughton to take the 7-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 7:27 mark of the second quarter when the Vikings would strike for a 16-yard pass to Wyatt Whitman to tie the game at seven. The tie would be short-lived, though, as the Eagles would march down the field in 90 seconds and regain the lead at 14-7 on the 19-yard pass to Parker Broughton. Then, to close out the half, Patrick Hagadorn would hit a field goal to take the 17-7 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, the Eagles would stay hot as they extended the lead to 24-7 on Shamus Bilbeau's 28-yard run. The way through the quarter, Shamus Bilbeau would strike again, this time from 11 yards, as they took control of the game at 31-7. The game would stay there till the 4:33 mark of the fourth quarter when the Vikings would get another score, this time from Joe Pelkey from 8 yards to make it a 31-13 game, and that's where the game would end. With the win, the Beekmantown Eagles would go to 5-1 on the season as they will host the Plattsburgh Hornets in their home finale. As for the Moriah Vikings, they fall to 2-3 on the season and will take on the Ticonderoga Sentinels next week in their return to 11-man football. Gallery

Saranac Lake's (10) and Peru's battle for the ball along the sidelines that the Nighthawks end up sending to the eighteen yard box. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer action as the #9 Peru Nighthawks would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm as they were looking to keep their undefeated season going. The Nighthawks would waste little time getting the lead as they would take the 1-0 lead just ten minutes into the game on the Declan Baker goal. Then, as time would expire on the opening half, the Nighthawks would extend their lead to 2-0 on the Zach Benson buzzer beater. The Nighthawks would come out of the locker room hot and extend their lead to 3-0 in the 43rd minute on the Collin Powers goal, and he would add two more in ten minutes to have a hat trick and give the Nighthawks a commanding 5-0 lead. Then, to end the game in the 65th minute, Alex Watts would score to give the Nighthawks the 6-0 lead and then hold on from there for the shutout victory and go to 11-0-1 on the season as they head into their next match on October 18th against the Beekmantown Eagles. As for the Saranac Lake Red Storm, they fall to 6-7 in the season, and they will look to get back to 500 in the year as they take on Boquet Valley on October 15th. Gallery

It would be a battle inside the top 20 as the #18 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #13 Beekmantown Eagles inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Soccer action as both teams start to make that late-season push for the playoffs. The Eagles would start the scoring in the 7th minute of the game as Grace McCasland scored to make it 1-0. The game would stay there till the 30th minute when Grace McCasland would strike again and make it a 2-0 Eagles lead, and that's where the first-half scoring would end. When the teams returned for the second half, the Eagles would stay on the attack and extend their lead to 3-0 in the 47th minute on the goal from Carly Hagadorn. The Hornets would get on the board in the 63rd minute on the goal from Bailey Hewson, and there would be a bit of history as she would get her 100th point in her career, making it a 3-1 game. From there, the Eagles' defense would take control of the game, and that's where the game would end. The Eagles, with their win, would stay perfect on the season at 11-0, while the Hornets would fall to 9-2 on the season. Gallery
