Malone's Brynn Leclair (3) comes flying down the lane to get a finger on the ball to block the shot of Grace LaMountain to keep the Huskies in the game. It would be the third game of the day from the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, and girls would be back on the court this time as the Plattsburgh Hornets would challenge the Malone Huskies. The game would be slow out of the gate, as defense would be the name of the game, as the Hornets would hold the slim 4-3 lead after the first eight minutes. In the second quarter, there would be a bit more offense, but defense would still be tough as the Hornets would have an 8-6 quarter and take the 12-9 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, they were re-grouped, and the offenses would be on display as the Huskies took the quarter 17-13 and the slim 26-25 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, the game would come right down to the wire, and the Huskies couldn't get a rebound to have a chance down the stretch, as the Hornets would win the quarter 6-4 and secure the 31-30 victory. In the winning effort for the Hornets, Ava Weiss led the way with 11 points as the Hornets got back to 500 at 3-3 on the season. Saranac's Hannah Forgette (5) drivs the basket with the griffins defender in tow as they get the 57-35 win. After the opening day of the 6th annual Clinton Community College Holiday Classic was postponed due to weather, the Boquet Valley Griffins and the #16 Saranac Spartans would open the two-day tournament. The Spartans would get off to a quick start as they jumped out to a 21-6 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Griffins tried to get in the game, but the Spartans led 14-10 and took a 35-16 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would be more of the same: the Griffins would keep it close with a 14-13 quarter, but would still enter the 4th down 48-30. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans finished them off with a 14-5 run and secured the 57-35 victory. In the winning effort, Madison Gonyea led the way for the Spartans with 18 points, as they improved to 5-2 on the season. For the Griffins, they would fall to 3-3 on the season. Gallery

Northeastern Clinton's (2) drives to the hoop past the defender for the score as the Cougars get the 28-22 road victory. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference of Section VII in girls' basketball between the host Plattsburgh Hornets and the visiting Northeastern Clinton Cougars in an early-season tilt. The game would start well for the visiting Cougars, who took a 7-2 lead after the first quarter in a defensive battle. The Hornets would answer back quickly in the section quarter with 5 points in the first minute to tie the game at 7, but the Cougars would finish the half on a 9-4 run to take the 16-11 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would show their muscle, scoring 7-1 to take an 18-17 lead into the final eight minutes of the game. In that final quarter, the Cougars would get their shot back and goon toto have an 11-4 quarter to secure the 28-22 victory on the nig, their first win of the season, and go to 1-2 while the Hornets fall to 1-3 on the season. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the #14 Moriah Vikings would travel up to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets in a late-season tilt. The game would start well for the Vikings as their defense would be up to the task, and they would jump out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter. It would be more of the same in the second quarter as they would hold the Hornets to nine points while getting another 15 for themselves to take the 29-14 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would regroup themselves, come out on fire, and take the third 12-7 to tighten up the game at 36-26 as they entered the fourth quarter. It would be the tightest in the fourth quarter as the Hornets would get the quarter 12-10, although the Vikings would hold on for the 46-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Vikings, they would go to 15-4 on the season as they head into their final regular season game next Tuesday against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. As for the Plattsburgh Hornets, they fall to 6-14 as they finish their season, head to the Section VII Class A Playoffs, and take on the Beekmantown Eagles in the semi-finals. Gallery

We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Basketball action from the Plattsburgh High School as the Hornets would host their neighbors in their annual rivalry game against the Beekmantown Eagles. The Eagles would come out flying in the first, doubling the Hornets with a 13-7 quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagle's defense would be top-notch for the eight minutes as they would hold the Hornets off the scoreboard with a 13-0 quarter and take a convincing lead of 26-7 lead at the end of the first half. When the teams return for the third, it would be a bit more of a competitive quarter, but the Eagles would still be on top with a 14-9 quarter and take the 40-16 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would empty the bench and score high on both ends, but the Hornets would only win the quarter by one at 16-15 as the Eagles would get the 55-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Eagles, they would go to 6-4 on the season as they head into their next game on Thursday against Ausable Valley.
