The Peru Nighthawks are crowned the 2024 Section VII Class A champions with their 3-0 victory over the Plattsburgh Hornets. It would be the second game of the championship Wednesday for section vii at Northeastern Clinton as the #1 Peru Nighthawks would take on the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets in a rematch of last year's title game that saw the Hornets get the win in the 12th round of the shootout almost a year ago to the date. The Nighthawks would come, and they were not looking for a repeat of last year as they scored in the first minute of the game on the Nolan Miner goal to make it a quick 1-0 lead. The Nighthawks would keep their foot on the gas and extend their lead to 2-0 on the Nick Petro goal. Then, in the final minute of the half, the Nighthawks would add another one, this time from Zach Benson, to make it a 3-0 game as the teams headed to the locker room. When the teams return for the second half, the Hornets come out trying to get on the board, but the Nighthawks' defense would be too much for them on this day, and the Nighthawks would get the 3-0 win. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks would stay perfect on the season at 14-0-1 and will enter the New York State Tournament and take on #9 Schalmont in the opening round. Plattsburgh's Nataliya Canada (8) with the dig on the return ball she gets to before the ball gets to the court. It would be the last regular season game for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would host the Ausable Valley Patriots in Section VII Volleyball action from the Plattsburgh High School. Before the game, they would honor the six seniors on the team. As for the match, the Hornets could win straight sets (25-16, 26-24, and 25-9). In the first two sets of the game, the Patriots would be holding their own and even have the lead a few times and had a chance to win the second set. With the win, the Plattsburgh Hornets would put the bow on their perfect season and go 16-0 as they head into the playoffs. As for the Ausable Valley Patriots, they will fall to 5-1 on the season as they have their season finale Wednesday Night against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. Gallery

Platsburgh's Ryan Colburn (13) had a catch over the middle for significant gain and was first down as the Hornets would get a 31-26 victory. It would be the final of the season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference, and the Plattsburgh Hornets would travel to Saranac Lake and take on the Red Storm in what might be the final game ever played at the Wilson Raymon field as they are supposed to have a brand new turf field at the high school next season. The Hornets would get the lone score of the first quarter from Danny Hartman on 21 21-yard run to give the Hornets the 7-0 lead. The Red Storm would return and get on the board on a 3-yard run by Zac Goetz, making it a 7-6 game. The Hornets would answer back with 1:07 left in the half on a 16-yard strike to Dominic Deangelo and take the 13-6 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the second half, the offense on both sides would pick up as the Hornets would strike first on the 12-yard run by Danny Hartman and take the 19-6 lead at the 3:54 mark. The Red Storm would come back down the field and make it a 19-13 game at the 6:14 mark of the third quarter. The offense would stay hot for the Hornets as they would make it a 25-13 game at the 9:57 mark of the third quarter when they would hit Ryan Coulburn on the 79-yard pass and catch, and that's how the quarter would end. Then, just 39 seconds into the 4th quarter, the Hornets would score again on the Bryan Kemokai run to make it a 31-13 game. The Red Storm would come back on the next drive and keep themself in the game on a 5-yard run by David Montroy to make it a 31-19 game with over seven minutes left. The Red Storm would keep coming, and with 1:54 left in the game, it would make it a 31-25 game as Zack Goetz would score on the keeper. From there, the Hornets would finish off the game and get the win as they go to 5-3 on the season. They will take on the Peru Nighthawks in the Section Class B Semi-Finals next Friday night. As for the Saranac Lake Red Storm, they would fall to 4-3 and will get a bye week as they take on the Saranac Spartans on November 9th to decide the Section VII Class C crown. Gallery

The Plattsburgh Hornets would celebrate as they would get the game-winning overtime for the 1-0 win. It would be the semi-finals of the Section VII Class A Girl's Soccer as the #2 Pittsburgh Hornets would host the #3 Peru Nighthawks, with the winner taking on the #1 Beekmantown Eagles on October 30t in the title game. This game would go back and forth all evening, with both teams having their chances to get on the board, but regulation would not be enough on this day, and overtime would needed. In the overtime, they would enter scoreless, go through the first ten minutes, and no one would score. So they would need double overtime on this evening, and in that overtime, Bailey Hewson would send the home crowd home happy as sh would sneak it under the crossbar for the goal. That would give the Hornets the 1-0 win, and they go to 13-3 in the season as they head into the title game against the Beekmantown Eagles. As for the Peru Nighhawks, their season will end at 5-10-1. Plattsburgh's Joel Avos (16) and Beemantown's (10) go after the ball at midfield as the Hornets would get the 1-0 win. It would be a semi-final action from the Plattsburgh High School as the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #3 Beekmantown Eagles in Section VII Class A Boy's Soccer action. The Hornets would waste little time in getting on the board as Joel Avos would score in the 15th minute of the game. That would end the scoring in the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, both teams would give it everything they had, but the defense would be the game's name, and no one could find the back of the net. The Plattsburgh Hornets would get the 1-0 victory and go to 11-2-3 on the season and will face the undefeated Peru Nighthawks in the Section VII Class A Finals on October 30th. The Beekmantowmn Eagles are crowned the 2024 Section VII Class A champions in Girl's Soccer for the second straight year after their 5-0 victory against the Plattsburgh Hornets. It would be championship Wednesday for Section VII, at least on the class A level from the Northeastern Clinton Soccer Field, and the first matchup of the night would see the #1 Beekmantown Eagles looking to repeat their title against the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets for the right to head to the New York State tournament. The Eagles would get the scoring in the 14th minute as they would take the 1-0 lead on the Grace McCasland goal. They would waste little time doubling their lead to 2-0 on the Carly Hafadorn goal. Then, to finish off an impressive 7-minute stretch, they would score again, this time from Payton Parliment, as she would score in the 21st minute to make it a 3-0, and that's where the scoring would stop in the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, the Eagles would stay hot, and they would extend their lead to 4-0 in the 46th minute as Payton Parliment added her second goal of the night; in the 57th minute, the Eagles would put the finishing touches on the game as Olivia Hagadorn would find the back of the net and make it a 5-0 game. From there, the Eagle's defense would put the final touches on the game as they would only allow three shots on the net in the winning effort. Also, in the winning effort, Grace McCasland would have 1 goal and four assists on the night as she would get game MVP. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles will enter the New York State tournament with a 16-1 record and will play Schalmont 16-0 in the tournament's opening round. Plattsburgh State's Kelly Licata (31) drives down the field gets their shot off from outside the box, and gets 1 of her 2 goals on the evening as they get the 3-0 win. We would SUNYAC Women's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Soccer complex as they would host the Potsdam State Bears and were looking for their first win at home this season. The Cardinals would get the match's opening goal in the tenth minute as Kelly Licata would score for her third goal of the season and the 1-0 lead. The Cardinals and Kelly Licata would strike again in the 25th minute as they would take the 2-0 lead. The Cardinals would stay hot and extend the lead to 3-0 in the 32nd second minute when Allison Brown would score her third of the season and give them the 3-0 lead, and that's how the half would end. In the second half, both teams would have their chances but could not find the back of the net as the Cardinals would get the 3-0 win and improve their record to 4-11-1 on the season as they head into their final game Saturday against Canton. Peru's Nick Petro (12) with the flick shot past the Northeastern Clinton defender as he would score to clinch the Nighthawks 3-1 victory. It would be the regular season final for both the Northeaster Clinton Cougars and the #7 Peru Nighthawks, and they would meet up at the Apple Bowl at Peru High School. The Nighthawks would look to avenge their only time of the season. The Nighthawks would control the game through the first half, but no one could find the niet, and it would be tied at zero. The game would stay there until the Cougars took the 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute on the Evias Carpenter goal. They would stay there till the 69th minute when the Nighthawks would break through and tie the game in the 69th minute on the Collin Powers goal. Then, three minutes later, in the 72nd minute, the Nighthawks would take the lead on the Nolan Miner goal at 2-1. Then, to finish off the 9-minute bridge, the Nighthawks would make it a 3-1 game in the 78th minute on the Nick Petro goal. The Nighthawks would get the win, finish off the undefeated regular season at 13-0-1, and go into the playoffs as the number 1 seed in the Section VII A bracket. Northern Adirondack's Kyle Reif (10) and Seton Catholic's (9) battle for the ball along the sidelines as the Bobcats would get the 4-0 win. It would be the Seton Catholic Knights' last home game and senior night as they would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats in Section VII Boy's Soccer action. The Bobcats would waste little time and get the game's opening goal in the third minute from Kaleb Guay to give them the early 1-0 lead. Then, in the 22nd minute of the game, the Bobcats would stay on the gas and add another one, this time from Calvin Magoon, to make it 2-0 Bobcats, and that's how the first half would end for scoring. When the teams return for the second half, the Bobcats stay on the attack and add another goal in the 62nd minute as they extend their lead to 3-0 on the goal from Donovan Turner. Then, in the 72nd minute, the Bobcats would end the scoring on the Shane Gilmore goal as they would secure their 4-0 win. In the winning effort, the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would go to 8-4-1 as they will finish their regular season tomorrow at Beekmantown. Plattsburgh's Bailey Hewson (10) with the goal that beats Saranac's Layla Pellerin (1) for one of her two goals on the night in their 3-0 win over the Saranac Spartans. We would have a match-up inside the top of Girl's Soccer action for Section All, be it one team from Class A and the other from B inside Section VII, as the #20 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #16 Saranac Chiefs in their last game of the regular season. The home Hornets would get off to the early lead on the 6th-minute goal from Bailey Hewson to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Hornets would waste little time expanding their lead to 2-0 on Bailey Hewson's second goal of the game in the 18th minute, and that's how the scoring would end for the 1st half. Then, when the teams returned for the second half, the Hornets would take control of the game in the 48th minute when Amaya Abellard scored to take the 3-0 lead, and that's where the scoring would end. In the winning effort, the Plattsburgh Hornets would finish their regular season at 12-3 and enter the Section VII Class A playoffs as the #2 seed.
