Beekmantown's (33) makes the shoulder save on the shot from the top of the zone in the winning effort. It would be the season opener for the annual powerhouse of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Beekmantown Eagles as they would host the Niskayuna Mohawks. The Eagles would come out in the first period and take quick control of the game as they would score five goals Zach Lapier (three) and Sam Bingel (twice) while the Mohawks would get a lone goal as the Eagles would take the 5-1 lead into the first intermission. In the second period it would be the same as the first as the Eagles would dominate again with another five-goal period from Louis Sweenor (twice), Zach Lapier, Sam Bingel, and Keegin Rodier while the Mohawks would another one as the Eagles would take a 10-2 lead into the third period. In that third period, the Eagles would another three goals with help from Sam Bingel and Zach Lapier as the Eagles would cruise to the 13-3 win. In the win, the Beekmantown Eagles would start their season 1-0 while the Niskayuna Mohawks would fall to 0-2 on the year. As for the Beekmantown Eagles, they will be back in action next weekend as they take on Grand Island and Kenmore East. Gallery

Peru's Trenten Taylor (15) with the leaping catch along the sidelines and he would took into the endzone for the score. It would be the second game of the championship Saturday from Ausable Valley as this time it would be the Section VII Class B championship as it would be the classic rivalry with the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament. It would start out like a lot of these classic games with hard-hitting and tight defense. The Nighthawks would finally break through for the first score of the game on a 23-yard pass and catch to Trenten Taylor to give the Nighthawks the 7-0 lead with 2 minutes left in the half and that is how the first half would end. The game would stay there till the 5:38 mark of the third quarter when Zack Engstrom would score from 5 yards out to make it a 14-0 game. Then with just over six minutes left in the game, the Nighthawks would take control of the game on Zack Engstrom's second score of the game this time from 40 yards out, and secure the 20-0 lead and win. With the win the Nighthawks go to 8-1 on the season and will take on the Gouvenor Wildcats in the opening round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament. It would be the lone Section VII playoff game of the weekend as the #2 Beekmantown Eagles would host crosstown rival the #3 Plattsburgh Hornets for the right to take on the #1 Peru Nighthawks for the Section VII Class B Finals next week at Ausable Valley. The game would start off great for the Eagles as they would take a 7-0 lead just 2:30 into the game on a 65-yard strike to Josh Sands. The Eagles would keep the offense going as they would score again on their next drive to take the 14-0 lead. The Hornets would show some life halfway through the first quarter on a 72-yard scramble by Dan Hartman to cut the deficit to 14-6. Although the Eagles would regain their two-score lead at 21-6 on the 36-yard run by Louis Sweenor and that's how the first quarter would end. The Eagles would keep on the gas and score just 3 minutes into the second quarter on the 1-yard run by Peyton Viau and take the 28-6 lead. The Hornets would keep fighting and as time was nearing the end of the half Dominic Deangelo would return a pick 6 interception 95 yards to make it a two-score game again at 29-12 at the half. When the teams return for the second half the Eagles would pick up where they left off with a 8-yard run by Parker Broughton to give them a 35-12 lead just 5 minutes into the half. Then with 2 minutes left in the quarter, the Eagles would make a 28-yard field goal from Patrick Hagadorn for the 38-12 lead. The game would stay there till about three minutes left when Shamus Bibeau would score from 8 yards out for the 44-12 victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles will advance to the Class B Finals while the Plattsburgh Hornets season will come to an end at 1-7. Gallery

It would be a late-season contest inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference from the Beekmantown Central School as the Eagles would host the Peru Nighthawks in Boys Soccer action. It would be a very evenly matched contest between a couple of good teams that would see the Eagles have the shot-on-net advantage by a count of 8-4. This game would need more than regulation time to decide the winner as the score would be deadlocked with no score as they would play the needed 80 minutes. In the extra time, the Eagles would finally get the needed goal from Ian McCasland for the 1-0 win. With the win the Beekmantown Eagles would finish off their regular season with a 8-5-1 record while the Nighthawks finish the season at 9-4-1 and now both teams will look forward to the upcoming playoffs. It would be week #6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and the Ausable Valley Patriots would be hosting the Beekmantown Eagles in a mid-season tilt. The Eagles would get the scoring started on a 3-yard run just 4:36 into the game and take the 7-0 lead. The Patriot's defense would do their best to keep the game tight in the early stages as it would stay there till the 3:04 mark of the second quarter when the Eagles would strike on a 19-yard pass to Peyton Viau to extend the lead to 14-0. Then in the final couple minutes of the half, the Eagles would expand on their lead on Louis Sweenor's second running touchdown of the game to take the 21-0 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles offense would stay hot and take a 28-0 lead with 3 minutes left in the quarter on a Peyton Viau 36-yard passing touchdown for second on the night. Then as time would expire in the third quarter the Eagles would strike again this time to Patrick Hagadorn for the 18-yard pass strike and that would end the scoring as neither team would break the goal line in the fourth quarter. With the win the Beekmantown Eagles go to 3-3 on the season and will travel to Saranac Lake next week. The Ausable Valley Patriots fall to 1-5 on the season and will have a home tilt next week against the undefeated Saranac Spartans. Gallery
