It would be Championship Sunday from Buffalo as it would be an all–Section I NYSPHSAA Boys Hockey Championship, with the #2 Byram Hills Bobcats facing off against the #3 Rye Garnets. The Bobcats opened the scoring at the 4:51 mark of the first period on a goal from Christian Cipriano. The Garnets answered back at 8:14 when Jamie Morris scored to tie the game at one. Just over two minutes later, the Garnets took a 2–1 lead on a goal by Ryan Draddy. Then, with 55 seconds left in the first period, the Garnets extended their lead to 3–1 on a goal from Colin Nigro, and that’s how the period would end. In the second period, Will Weinman scored at the 12:05 mark to make it a 4–1 Garnets lead on the lone goal of the frame. In the third period, the Garnets put the icing on the cake with Ryan Draddy’s second goal of the game at the 12:43 mark for a 5–1 advantage. In the winning effort for the Garnets, Fernando Mosquera made 17 saves as they captured the state title. As for the Bobcats, Lucas Guggenheimer was impressive in his own right, making 63 saves. The Rye Garnet are crowned the 2026 NYSPHSAA Division II Boys Hockey champions with the 5-1 victory. Clarence's Taylor Regian (7) scored the goal on the rebound right in front to give the Red Devils a 2-1 lead in the second period. It was the final game of four on the day at the LECOM Harborcenter, as the #1 Clarence Red Devils from Section VI met the #3 Rye Garnets from Section I in the second semifinal of the NYSPHSAA Division II Boys’ Hockey Championships. The upset‑minded Garnets opened the scoring at the 8:26 mark of the first period when Finn Draddy found the net, and that would be the lone goal of the opening frame. The Red Devils came out strong in the second period, tying the game just 1:32 in on a power‑play goal from Jeremy Drugi. Clarence kept the pressure on and took a 2–1 lead three minutes later when Taylor Regian scored, and that was how the second period ended. The score remained 2–1 until the 14:38 mark of the third period, when Will Weinman scored on the power play to force the game into overtime. In the extra session, Jack McGill completed the upset for the Garnets, sending the #1 team in the state home and setting up an all–Section I final, where they would face the Byram Hills Bobcats on championship Sunday. Rye Garnet get the game winner in overtime from Jack McGill as they head to the championship with the 3-2 win. It would be the championship of the 2025 edition of the Appleee's Winter Classic as the host Beekmantown Eagles would take on Section I powerhouse and #5 Rye Garent at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse. The Garnet would get the opening goal of the game, but it would take till the 15-minute mark of the first period when Jamie Morris would score to make it 1-0 at the end of the first period. The Eagles would come out soaring in the second period and get the equalizer just 1:23 into the period on the Mason Carter goal. The Garnet would keep coming, though, and they would retake the one-goal lead on the Max Niejadlik goal at the 115-minute mark. When the third period opened, the Garnet made it 3-1 just 2:04 in on the Will Niejadlik goal. Then, seconds later, the Garnet would make it a 4-1 game on the Jamie Morris goal, and from there they would clamp down on defense and secure the 4-1 and the 2025 Applebee's Winter Classic championship. It would be the second game of the opening day of the 2025 Applebee's Winter Classic at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse, and it would see the upstart Northeastern Clinton Cougars taking on the powerhouse Rye Garnet. The Garnet would get the lone goal of the first period from Jake Souza at the 8:51 mark to give them the 1-0 lead after one. In the second period, the Garnet offense would explode, lighting the lamp five times thanks to Max Niejadeik and Ryan Draddy. As for the Cougar, they would have one to answer back, thanks to Cameron Supernaw, and it would be a 6-1 Garnet lead after the period. In the third period, there would be no let-up for the Garnets, as they scored another four goals from Will and Max Niejadlik, along with Trevor Dol, en route to the 10-1 victory. With the win, the Rye Garnets will meet the Beekmantown Eagles to decide the champion of the 2025 edition. Beekmantown's Jack Bell (29) made the save on the close shot as the Garnets looked to expand their lead. It would be the championship of the 2024 edition of the Applebee's Winter Classic, featuring the #7 Rye Garnets and the Beekmantown Eagles from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The Eagles would get on the board at the 9:27 mark of the first period when Edward Sweenor scored for the 1-0 lead. Then, at the 12:19 mark of the period, the Eagles would return and extend their lead to 2-0 on the Jackson Deyo goal and take the lead into the first intermission. In the second period, the Garnet would fight back with two goals and tie the game at 2. When the teams returned for the third period, the Garnets would come out on fire and explode for five goals to secure the 7-2 victory and claim the 2024 Applebee's Winter Classic. As for the Beekmantown Eagles, they will finish 2nd in the Winter Classic and go to 3-3 on the season as Jack Bell would make 29 saves on the afternoon and will return to action on January 6th as they take on the Plattsburgh Hornets in the annual Hannah's Hope game.
