Bacpack Giveway Night @ Airborne Park Speedway August 29th 2024

Fire Swamp (88) Travis Bruno (33) and Nick Heywood (29) all battle for the lead as they dive down to turn 1 with the eventual win going to Nick Heywood. We would be back at Airborne Park Speedway for the next edition of Thursday Night Thunder as it would be backpack giveaway night at the speedway and we would have all four divisions action on the evening. The first feature of the night that would be out would be the Be Cool Heating and Air Condition Small Black Modifieds and it would see 14 cars take the green for the 30 lap event. Jordan Fornwalt would get the lead at the start of the race but it would be short-lived as Tim Fuller would get by and take the lead in lap two and then the race would be on between him and Mike Mahaney as they would take off from the rest of the field and have there own battle up front. The battle up front would go on till there were about 5 laps left in the when Mahaney would use the lap traffic to his advantage and take the lead and get his first win of the season at the Airborne Park Speedway and expand his point lead over Tim Fuller with only three races to go. Then we would have the JS Steel Sportsman Modified with 24 cars going after the win-the-30-lap affair. The race would start with Beau Reeves and Matt LaValley on the front row and the early leader of the race would be Dylan Rabtoy from his 4th place start. There would be a storm brewing in the middle of the pack though as Heywood, Scarbrough, and Bruno would all be on their way up. The battle up front would intensify for a few laps between Heywood and Rabtoy until Heywood would get around for the lead. Then in the closing laps, it would be classic Airborne rivalry at the front and they would put a show on between Heywood and Bruno but in the end Heywood would hold on for the win and his third of the season. Then we would have the 9th State Cannabis Renegades for their 20-lap event and would see Richie Turner getting the early lead of the race. Shawn Duquette and Tylor Terry sitting 1 and 2 in the points race come up from rows 3 and 4 batting for the lead. Duquette could get around Richie Turner for the lead and hold off the charging Tylor Terry to hold on for his second win of the season and hold the points lead. Then we would be onto the Moore Recycling Mini Stocks to finish the night with their pair of feature events and we would have a surprise early leader of the race with Kyle Botala holding his own at the front of the pack. Although the Tourville Motorsports teams would be coming from their 8th and 9th place starting spot and in the closing laps Caleb would get around Botala for the lead and father Kenny would come up for second to finish the 1 2 Tourville motorsports finish. Then to finish off the night it would be the B Main for the Mini Stocks and the winner on the night would be Glenn Engstrom. Airborne Park Speedway will be back in action next week September 4th with a special Wednesday edition of Thursday Night Thunder with all divisions in action. Gallery

Dirt Track Racing Hulber Supply Vermont 200 Qualifer Night @ Airborne Park Speedway August 22nd 2024

Jake Fountain (22) has the bumper pressed right to the back of JJ Laporte (4) as they dive into turn one of the Moore Recycling Mini Stoicks main event. This would not be just another Thursday Night Thunder as this would be Hulbert Supply's Night and the $1,500 to Vermont 200 Qualifier with the winner getting a starting spot for the $12,500 to win next weekend at Devils Bowl Speedwy. There would be three divisions in action on the evening the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified, 9th State Cannabias Renegades, and the Moore Recycling Mini Stocks. After the heat races and the one Last Chance Qualifier that was needed, it would be time for the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified to take to the track for their 50-lap $ 1,500-to-win event. The race would take a bit to get going including a rollover by Jonathan Toohill that would bring out the red flag on lap two. The early leader would be Mike Wright ass he would start on the pole and would hold the lead for most of the night but he would have an early challenge from Chris Cayea. Then the 61L of Donovan Lussier would charge up from his 8th place start and take the lead in the closing laps. Although he would have a late race challenge from Joey Scarbrough who would have to charge from 17th helped by the longer distance race he would come up just one spot short and finishing out the top three would be Travis Bruno. So with his win tonight, Donovan Lussier joins Nick Heywood and Zack Sobotka as starters in the Vermont 200. There is one more granurated starting spot available for the 200 this weekend at the Devils Bowl Speedway with the winner of the Charlie LaDuc memorial. Then it would be time for the 9th State Cannabis Renegades and their 25-lap race and the battle up front would be between a couple of fan favorites as it would be a showdown between Tylor Terry and Richie Turner. Turner would be the leader for most of the race but with a couple of laps to go Terry would take the lead in turn 1 Turner would come back charging down the backstretch and dive bomb the corner and push up and put both of them in the turn four wall. Inheriting the lead and the win would be Josh Terry who would edge out Nathaniel Guay and Bill Thwaits would round out the top three. Then to finish off the night would be a pair of main events for the Moore Recycling Mini Stock in the A Main it would be Kris Clark's charge from deep in the field to get the win and his 4th in the last 5 races. Then it would be onto the B Main and it would produce a first-time winner as Jeremiah King would beat Tyler Bell to the line for the win. The Airborne Park Speedway will be back alive next Thursday Night and it will be a special night as it is the return of the annual backpack night to the track. Gallery

Riley Ford Presents Twin Feature Night @ Airborne Park Speedway August 15th 2024

Felix Roy (91) would beat Mike Mahaney (35) to the checkered flag for the win of the second feature for the Be Cool Heating and Air Condition 358 Modifieds. The Airborne Park Speedway would be back in action with their Thursday Night Thunder program as it would be double features for the 358 Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds, and Renegades along with a $500 to win for the Mini Stocks. The first feature out on the night would be the Be Cool Heating and Air Conditions 358 Modifieds and would see a dull upfront between Todd Stone and Jordan Formwalt and in the end, the win would go to Justin Stone for his second win of the season. Then next up would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for their first feature of the night and the winner would be Fire Swamp for the second time this season as he would beat Chris Cayea to the line. Then we would have the Ninth State Cannabias Renegades and see Tylor Terry get his fifth win of the season over the points leader Shawn Duquette. Then when we returned from the break it would be time for the second round of features and once again the Be Cool Heating and Air Condition 358 Modifieds first up and it would see Felix Roy start on the pole and hold the spot for the win but there would be charge coming from Mike Mahanney as he came up from his 8th starting spot and end just a couple car lengths from getting the win. Then we would have the second feature for the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and it would see Jamy Begor start on the front row and get the lead off the start and hold it til about the halfway mark when Evan Roberts would get around him for the lead and hold on for his first ever Sportsman Modified win. Then we would have the second feature for the Renegades and see Tylor Terry come from the 12th starting spot and complete the sweep on the night as he would out-duel Nathaniel Guay to the checkered for the win. Then to finish off the night it would be the Moore Recycling Mini Stocks for 15 laps as they go after the 500 dollars first place check. It would see Jason Bradley get the lead at the start of the race and hold it for a few laps. Still, Steven Bressette would come charging from row four and take the lead but there would be a battle up front before the night was done as Kris Clark would be looking for his third win in four races and get up second from his 21st starting spot. Versus Monster Truck Tour @ Franklin County Fair Malone, NY August 7th 2024

Jesse Como and Rat Nasty stuff it on the nose for the stoppie off the jump. The Versus Monster Truck Tour would make their first-ever stop at the Franklin County Fair in Malone, NY for a one-night-only show and they would bring in a class lineup with Stone Crusher, Hooked, Rat Nasty, Loud and Dirty, and Excavator in two-wheel skills, racing and freestyle action along with the quad racing action. The night would start with the two-wheel skills contest as each truck would get to hits to do their best trick for the crowd and the winner would be Rat Nasty and Jesse Como as he would do the stoppie. Next up would be side-by-side qualifying and racing on a J style and straight line and the fastest in qualifying would be Hooked and Frank Krmel. Then it would be onto racing and it would come down to a pair of team trucks as Hooked and Stone Crusher would line up in the finals and Hooked would get the win by a nose. Then to finish off the night it would be freestyle action with a good amount of room to play and jumps to play with as Hooked would take his high-flying action to the track and get the win. It will be a short turnaround for the teams as they are back in action in three days as they head to the Oswego County Fairgrounds on the next stop on August 10th and 11th. Gallery

Short Track Super Series Showdown at Sundown on the Broader 50 @ Mohawk International Raceway August 6th, 2024

Shane Pecore (0) would pick off Fire Swamp (88) as he charged from his fifth place starting spot but Gauvreu would have to big a lead on this day. It would be the north stop on the River Valley Builders North Tour for the Short Track Super Series their 18th overall for the series and their first-ever stop to the Mohawk International Raceway they would bring 33 of the best-modified drivers along with Sportsman Modified and the Pro Stock. The Modifieds would need a Last Chance Qualifier to decide who would get the last seven spots in the field of 27 for the 50-lap event. When the main event started the odds on favorite to win on the night would be Stewart Friesen after all he was the fastest in time trials and won his heat race easily. When the race was underway it would be Friesen and David Hebert on the front row and Friesen would zoom out to the lead there would be a couple of early cautions before lap 20 and on the second one Hebert would get around Friesen for the lead but the lead would only last a few laps and Friesen would take the lead back. But there would be a rumbling from the middle of the pack as Matt Sheppard who started 13th would keep picking them off as he rolled to the front of the pack and with ten laps to go he would have Friesen in his sights and the classic rivalry would be at it again on the broader tonight. With three laps to go Sheppard came off of turn two and almost runner his night on the backstretch wall and lost a second Friesen but he hugged the bottom for the next two laps and would get Friesen at the line by about a car length for the win. Chris Raabe would round out the top three as he came from sixth place on the final lap. Then we would have 35 laps for the Pro Stockers with $1,000 going to the winner. The race would start with Ian Bresset and Zack Daniels on the front row and the early leader would be Bressett there would be a battle up front through the early stages of the race between Bressett, Burton Ward, and Denis Gauvreau but in the end, the winner would be Dakota Sharp that came up from the ninth spot to get his second win of the season over Bressett and Gauvreau. Then to finish off the night would be the Sportsman Modified as they would run the Lonewolf Sportsman Special and there would be no doubt on the winner this night as Cedric Gauvreau would say see you later to the field and rounding out the top three would be Shane Pecore and Casey Swamp. Wrestling: ECPW Franklin County Fair August 5th 2024

Buddy Tomas would meet the boot of Captain Pain as he went after him in the corner in get attempt to get the upper hand. The East Coast Pro Wrestling would make their first ever appearance at the Franklin County Fair in Malone, NY, and would be the first time that the fair would have pro wrestling at the fairgrounds in many years. There would be five matches on tap and a battle royal match on the night. Although on a drizzling night at the fair, the main event of the evening would see Afa Jr take on Fandongo and the match would go all over the ring the stage and eventually make its way to the track but in the end, Afa Jr would get the win on the night. Also in another crowd-pleasing match on the night, it would see Drew Masterson and Buddy Tomas do battle with the Good Ole Boys, and in a match that the ref would have kept control of at teams it would see the new crowd favorites the good ole boys get the win. The East Coast Pro Wrestling would pick up their traveling road show and head back to New Jersey for their next event a taping of their weekly TV programming event. Gallery

Northern New York Truck and Tractor Pullers & New York Hot Farm Seris: Franklin County Fair Truck & Tractor Pull August 4th 2024

Mike Overpeck and Social Distancing blowing diesel down the track to 299 feet for a fourth place finish in the Hot Farm class. It would be the annual truck and tractor pull from the Franklin County Fair and a combination show between the Northern New York Truck and Tractor Pullers and the New York Hot Farm Series and would see a combined 85 hooks on the day. There would be all different types of trucks and tractors on the day from stock trucks and tractors to the Super Stock 4x4 Trucks and the Altered Stock Tractors in front of a crowd of about 1,000 people in the grandstands. We would start the day with the stock tractors and there would be 6 classes on the day the winners would be Alle Friend, Gene Chauvin, Charley Botto (twice), and Josh Carter (twice). Then we would have the Altered Stock Tractors and the winners in the afternoon would be John Myers. Then to finish off the tractor portion of the show we would have the New York Hot Farm and the winners would be Mike Hessling, Cody Eisenhut, Matthew Loucks, and Spencer Meade. Then, in the afternoon the rain and the break would be the evening portion and it would be nothing but trucks and start with the Stock Trucks and the winners would be Paul Fitzgerald, Will Dushane, and Erick Dushane. Then in the Super Stock Trucks, it would be Todd Jarvis and Mad Dog over the Yellow Fever. Then to finish the day of pulling it would be the Pro Diesel Trucks and Mike Wilson and Fred would win over Gary Corey Pure Sugar by 2 feet. There will be a second day of pulling at the Franklin County Fair on the last day of the fair on August 11. Gallery

DNA Motorsports Presents Franklin County Fair Demolition Derby August 3rd 2024

Tom Pickering (6) and Michael Wright (76) go back bumper to bumper as they battle for the win in the Semi Stock Compact Main as Pickering would get the best of him that night. It would be the return of the annual demolition derby at the Franklin County Fair and for the second year in a row, it would be run by DNA Motorsports for the first time in nearly 30 years the demolition derby would be back to a one-day show with all the classes competing starting at 2 pm and going til they ran all. As normal for the Franklin County Fair Demolition Derby, it would start with the kids' power wheel derby and then they would have their induction into the demolition derby Hall of Fame this year there would be three new members to the hall. As for the action on the track it would start with a pair of powder puff classes in the compact and the full-size division with the St. Marys taking the crown. Then it would be onto the heats for the stock and full-size cars. Then we would eventually get to the mains on the night and the first one would be the vans and the winner on this night would be Travis Aiken. Then it would be onto the bone stock full-size cars and the winner would be Robert Begor as it would come down to him and Jerry Streeter at the end. Then it would be onto the truck feature and they would keep it in the family as it will come down to father and son and Brad Wheeler would get the win. Then we would have the stock compact feature and the winner on the night would be Devon LaFlesh over a pair of the King boys. Then we would have the Semi Stock Compact feature and we would see Tom Pickering getting the win. Then to finish off the night off smashing and crashing we would have the semi-stock full size and when the dust settled it would come down to a Barney and Stockwell with the win going to Eric Stockwell. The next derby that these guys will be looking at will either be at the Vermont State Fair in Rutland, Vermont, or the Essex County Fair in Westport, NY the weekend of August 16th-18th both being presented by DNA Motorsports. Dirt Track Racing: American Racer North 358 Series Presented by Unifirst @ Airborne Park Speedway July 18th 2024

Bucko Branham (20) comes across under the checkered flag to get his first win of the season in the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified over Joet Scarbrough. It would be another Thursday Night Thunder from Airborne Park Speedway and this time we would have the added American Racer North 358 Series for 60 laps and $3250 to the winner along with the weekly divisions with the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified, 9th State Cannabis Renegades, and the Moore Recycling Mini Stocks. After all the heat races were done it would be onto the mains and the first one up would be the American Racer North 358 Series for 60 laps and the 18 car field. The night would see former Airborne Park Speedway champion Chris Raabe start on the front row and he would be gone the race would be to see who was second as David Hebert Mike Mahaney and Felix Roy and second would end up being Hebert. Then we would have the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for the 25-lap event which would take a bit to get going with a couple of early cautions. It would see Caleb Durgan once again get off to the early lead but Tanner Forbes would stay on him for most of the race. Still, there would be a couple of hard chargers coming from the middle of the pack in the likes of Joey Scarbrough and Bucko Branham and in the end, Bucko Branham would get the win for his first of the season as Scarbrough would finish second but be the hard charger of the race moving up 14 spots on the night. Then it would be onto the 9th State Cannabis Renegades and their 20-lap affair and see Tyler Irwin get the lead off the start of the race. Still, there would be a fire brewing in the back of the field as Tyor Terry would come charging from the 9th starting spot to lead to get his second straight race win of the season as Nathaniel Guay and Richie Turner would round out the top three. Then to finish off the night it would be the Moore Recycling Mini Stocks with their A and B Mains. The A Main would see Ed Goodeau get the early lead of the start but there would be a storm brewing behind him as Kris Clark would come up from the last place starting spot to get the win for the second week in a row as Speedy Bressette and Ryan Senecal would round out the top three. The next finish of the night would be the B Main for 6 laps and Kyle Botala got the lead of the start but Jamie Whitney would come up from the fifth starting spot to get his second B Main win in a row. Dirt Track Racing: Kid's Bike Ride Night @ Airborne Park Speedway July 18th 2024

Mike Phinney (38) and Joey Scarbrough (11) go into turn 1 wheel to wheel as they battle for the lead late in the race for the 25-lap J+S Steel Sportsman Modified win which would go to Phinney on this day for his first win of the season. We would be back in action at Airborne Park Speedway with Kid's Bike Night as they would return after taking a week off for the Clinton County Fair. To make the return to the track all four divisions would be in action with the Be Cool Heating and Air Condition 358 Modifieds, J+S Steel Sportsman Modified, 9th State Cannabis, and the Moore Recycling Mini Stocks there would be around 85 cars in the pits. After the heats races were run and before the mains were run there would be kid bike races along with the race car drivers driving the bikes. As for the racing on track, we would start with the mains with the Be Cool Heating and Air Condition 358 Modifieds and it would be a wire-to-wire win for Steve Bernier as he would be on a rail and lap up to the seventh place rounding out the top three would be Felix Roy and Justin Stone. Then it would be on to the 25-lap event for the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and the early race leader would be Caleb Durgan but then the race would be on between him and Mike Phinney for the lead and Phinney would take the race lead. Then with five laps to go there would be multiple restarts due to incidents on the track and the hard-charging Joey Scarbrough would have multiple chances to take the lead. Still, Phinney would hold them off to get his first win of the season over Joey Scarbrough and Travis Bruno. Then we would be onto the 9th State Cannabis Renegades and their 20-lap affair and see Shawn Fountain take the lead off the start but the lead would be short-lived as Richie Turner would get around him for the lead. Then the racing would get good between him and Shawn Duquette as they went side by side for many laps until Duquette would move ahead for the lead and the eventual win over Richie Turner and Josh Terry. Then to finish off the night it would be the Moore Recycling Mini Stocks for there 15 lap main and would see Jason Bradley get the early lead until his car died coming off the fourth turn Glen Engstrom would inherit the lead but there would be a hard charger coming and Kris Clark would get the win from his 13th starting spot over Josh Blake and Cale Manor. Then in the B Main, it would see Cody Agoney get the lead but he would be passed by Jamie Whitney Jr as he would get his first career win. The Airborne Park Speedway will be back in action next Thursday as the American Racer North 358 Modified Series will make its first-ever appearance at the track for 60 laps all with the other weekly division.
