It would be the second game of the day at the Comfort Inn Winter Classic and the host #15 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be meeting up with the Wentworth Leopards for their first home game of 2023 in front of 1,100 fans. The game would start well for the home Cardinals as they would score just 2:13 into the game from Ryan Bonfield for the Cardinal's 1-0 lead. Although the Leopards were not just going lay down and let the Cardinals walk away with the game as they would even the game up at 1 at the 7:38 mark of the period on a goal from Luke Jefferies. The Cardinals would answer back in the final two minutes of the period on a goal from Luk Jirousek and take the 2-1 lead at the break. Although the Leopards were not going away and would come back again and tie the game at 2 at the 11:18 mark of the second period on a goal from Nolan Lowe. Once again the Cardinals would answer late in the period this time with under 30 seconds left in the period on a goal from Bennett Stockdale to take a 3-2 lead into the second intermission. From there Cardinals would hold on for the win as Brendan Young would score twice in the third period to seal the game away for the 5-2 victory. In the winning effort, Jacob Hearne would make 20 saves as the Cardinals go to 9-3-2 on the season and will face arch-rival #9 Oswego State Lakers in the championship of the Comfort Inn Winter Classic. Oswego State's Cal Schell (30) with the save in the shootout on Potsdam State's Carter Lennon (4) to secure there spot in the championship. It would be the opening game of the 40th Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic as the Potsdam State Bears and #9 Oswego State Lakers would face off. The upset-minded Bears would get the first goal of the game just 5:24 in from Jack Bloem to take the 1-0 lead. That is where the game would stand till the 5:31 mark of the second period when the Bears would double their lead at 2-0 on the Justin Vernace goal. The Lakers would finally have an answer at the 8:30 mark of the period on the Connor Sleeth goal to make it a 2-1 game. Although just 90 seconds later the Bears would regain their two-goal lead on the Josh Bifolch goal at 3-1. Although the Lakers would come back on the powerplay about three minutes later and make it a one-goal game again. That is where the game would stay till about the 11:30 mark of the third period when Shane Bull would score for the Lakers and tie the game at three. That would be where the game would officially end as there was no scoring the rest of the period or in overtime but because of the tourney they would go to the shootout to decide it and the Lakers would win 2-0. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action tonight against fellow north country foe as they would take on the St. Lawrence Saints. The game would not start off the greatest though for the home Cardinals as they would be playing catch up with the Saints throughout the half and the Saints would have a 41-33 lead after the first half. When the teams would come back for the second half the Cardinals would try the best to keep the game close as it would be under a five point defecit a few times in the half but that would be cloest they could get as the Saints would win the half 36-32 and hold on for the 77-65 win. Although the Cardinals would lose Kevin Tabb would lead all scores with 22 points as the Cardinals fall to 1-2 while the Saints would get there season started with a win. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Mya Smith (3) with the runner in the lane that he would float over the defender as part of a game high 14 points. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action tonight against north country foe the St. Lawrence Saints in non conference action at memorial hall on the suny plattsburgh campus. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would be doubling up the Saints at the end of the first quarter with a 16-8 lead. Then in the second quarter the Saints would come charging back with a 19-10 quarter and have a slim 27-26 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Cardinals would find there shoot again with a 16-12 quarter and take the 42-39 lead into the final quarter. In the final quarter the Saints would find there shoot and have a slightly better quarter at 21-16 which would give the Saints the 60-58 win. In the losing effort a pair of Cardinals would lead all scores with fourteen points for Mya Smith and Hannah Ruberto as they go to 2-2 on the season. Gallery

It would be the season opener for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would take on fellow North Country team in the Clarkson Golden Knights. The game would be tight throughout the first half as the home Cardinals would have a slim 31-29 lead at the end of the half. When the teams came back for the second half the game would remain close as the Cardinals would win the half 45-41 and take the 76-71 victory. Plattsburgh State' Bri Brousseau would lead come in on the breakaway and lay in for two of her game high six points. It would be the opening night of the 2022-23 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's Basketball as they would take fellow north country foe the Clarkson Golden Knights. It would start off tight but the Cardinals would have the slim lead after the first quarter with a 15-11 quarter. In the second quarter the game would stay the same with the Cardinals winning the quarter by a 16-14 margin and take a 31-25 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Golden Knights would keep up the fight to keep the game close and even cut into the defecit with a 22-18 quarter to 49-47 Cardinals as they head to the last quarter. In that final stanza the game couldn't get any closer as it would be a 12-12 quarter and the Cardinals would hold onto to the 61-59 victory. With the win the Cardinals would get there season started off right as they go to 1-0 and Bri Brousseau would lead the way with a 16 point night as the Golden Knights fall to 0-1 on the season.
