#16 Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks Vs #20 Clarkson Golden Knights November 29th 2024
The Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks are crowned the 2024 and second annual Adirondack Winter Invitional presented by Golden Arrow Lakeside Resorts champions in a goal differential against the Providence Friars. It would be the final game of the 2nd annual Adirondack Winter Invitational presented by Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, and it would feature a matchup of a pair of top 20 teams as the #16 Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks and the #20 Clarkson Golden Knights from the Lake Placid Olympic Center Herb Brooks Arena. It would take till the last minute of the period before we had our first game goal. Still, both teams would score within ten seconds of each other as Connor Eddy would get his third goal of the season for the Riverhawks, and Ryan Richardson would get his 5th of the year for the Golden Knights, and the period would end tied at one. The Golden Knights would take the lead in the game at the 8:32 mark of the second period on Ray Fust's first goal for the 2-1 lead. However, the Riverhawks would answer right back and tie the game at two 17 seconds later on the Mirko Buttazzoni second of the season. Then, just 90 seconds after that, the Riverhawks would regain the lead at 3-2 on Matt CCrasa'sthird of the season. The Golden Knights would keep fighting and tie the game up again on Ryan Richardson's second goal with 4:09 left in the second period to end the second period tied at four. When the teams returned for the third period, both would be looking for the go-ahead goal, but the Riverhawks would be the ones that would get the 4-3 lead with just under ten minutes left on Owen Cole's fifth of the season. The Golden Knights would not be denied on this day as they would tie it up again, this time on the Ellis Rickwood goal, his third of the season, and from there, the game would head to overtime. In the three-on-three overtime, both teams would have their chances. Still, no one would be able to light the lamp, and the game would officially go as a 4-4 tie, but because of the weekend tournament, a winner would be needed, which would be the Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks on the eighth round of the shootout. Henry Welsch would make saves in the winning effort for the Riverhawks, and they went to10-on the three seasons. #10 Providece Friars Vs St. Lawrence Saints November 30th 2024
Providence's Tanner Adams (19) with the opening goal of the game that he gets by St. Lawrence's Dominic Basse (31) as the Friars get the 2-1 victory. It would be the second day of the 2nd Annual Adirondack WinterInvitationall from the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY, and the first matchup of the day would feature the #10 Providence Friars taking on the Saints from St. Lawrence as the Friars would be looking to go perfect on the weekend against the North Country foes in front of 210 fans. The game would start well for the Friars as they would get the opening goal of the game just 3:21 into the contest as Tanner Adams would get his second of the weekend and eight on the season to give them the 1-0 lead, and that would be the only scoring of the first period In the second period,d the Saints would get their first goal of the weekend, and it would come from Tyler Cristall for second of the season as it would tie the game up atone1 just 2:31 into the period and that would be the lone goal of the period, and the teams would enter the third period tied at 1 The Saints would enter the third looking for the upset of number ten in the country, although that would not be happening on this day as the Friars would take the 2-1 lead at the 8:51 mark of the third on the John Mustrd's fourth of the season and that's how the game would end at 2-1 Friars In the winning effort, the Friars Zachry Borgiel would make 19 saves on the night as they go to 10-3-2 in the season As for the Saints, Dominic Basse would make 33 saves in the afternoon as the Saints go to 4-11 in the season, and both teams head back into conference play next season. #10 Providence Friars Vs #20 Clarkson Golden Knights November 29th 2024
Providence's Nick Poisson (12) puts it over Clarkson's Ethan Langenegger (1) for the shorthanded goal to make it a 2-0 game. It would be the second game of the day from the famed Herb Brooks Arena as part of the 2nd annual Adirondack Winter Invitational, and it would feature a matchup inside the top the 20 as the #10 Providence Friars would square off with the #20 Clarkson Golden Knights. The game would start for the Friars as they would waste little time getting the contest's opening goal at the 4:15 mark of the first period on Tanner Adams's seventh goal of the season and take the early 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 13:34 mark of the period when the Friars would score this time on the shorthand from Nick Poisson for his 4th of the season. The Golden Knights would finally get into the scoring act two minutes later when Jared Mangan scored the powerplay for his fourth season, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there till the 8:57 mark of the second period when the Golden Knights found the equalizer from Ryan Richardson for his fourth of the season and tied the game. That would be the last of the scoring for regulation, and the next 32 minutes would go without a goal. So the teams would head to the overtime, and for some three-on-three hockey, at the 1:57 mark of the period, Graham Gamache would get the game-winner and his third goal of the season. In the winning effort for the Friar, Phillipp Svedeback made 23 saves as they went to 9-3-2 in the season and played for the St. Lawrence Saints tomorrow to finish the tournament. #19 Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks Vs St. Lawrence Saints November 29th 2024
Massachusetts Lowell's Beni Halasaz (33) made the save on the scramble in front to keep the shutout in the closing minutes of the game. It would be the opening game of the 2024 edition of the Adirondack Winter Invitational from the famed Herb Brooks Arena, and it would feature a matchup between hockey east and ECAC foes as the #16 Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks would face against the St. Lawrence Saints. There would be no scoring through the opening twenty minutes of the game as the teams were feeling each other out in the opening period. The Mass Lowell would finally break through in the second period and get the game's opening goal at the 11:25 mark from Dillan Bentley for the 1-0 lead, and that's where the game would be at the end of the second period. When the teams returned for the third period, both teams had a chance to tie the game up or take control of it, but both goalies were up to the challenge. The Riverhawks would get an empty netter goal in the final minute from Scott Trurman to give them the 2-0 victory. For the Riverhawks, Beni Halasaz would make 20 saves in the shutout victory as they go to 10-3 on the season and will play the Clarkson Golden Knights tomorrow at the end of the tournament. Morrisville State Mustangs @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 23rd 2024
Plattsburgh State's Jake Lanyi (37) with the backhanded wrister shot on net as the Cardinals would get the 4-1 win over the Mustangs. The Cardinals would return home for the second straight night as this time they would take on SUNYAC contender the Morrisville State Mustangs from the Ronnie B in front of 1600 fans on Casella Teddy Bear toss night. The game would start well for the Cardinals as they would get the game's opening goal from Tio D'Addario at the 6:09 mark of the first period. The lead would only stay at one for a short time as the Cardinals would extend their lead to 2-0 just over a minute later on the Colin Callanan goal. The game would remain there till the 3:44 mark of the third period when Jake Sacratini power-play goal to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. The Mustangs would finally be able to get on the board at the 9:03 mark of the third period when they would light the lamp on the Evan Fraccaro power play goal. The Cardinals would waste little time regaining their three-goal lead when Ryan Poorman scored a shorthanded goal 40 seconds later, making it a 4-1 game. The Cardinals would control the game from there for the win as they go to 3-3 on the season. Jacon Hearne would make 11 saves on the night, and they go to 3-3 season. Cortland State Red Dragons @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 22nd 2024
Plattsburgh State's Aaron Catron (12) with the quick wrister on net as the Cardinals would take the 3-1 lose in the rematch of the SUNYAC Championship from last season. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up the home portion of their season in a rematch of the SUNYAC Championship from last season as they would take on the Cortland State Red Dragons in front of a packed house at the Ronnie B. The game would start great for the home Cardinals as they would get the opening goal just 8 minutes in on the shorthanded goal from Josh Belgrave for the 1-0 lead. The Red Dragons would return just 4 minutes later and tie the game up on the Nate Boak goal. Then, just 2 minutes after that, the Red Dragons could take the lead on the Nathan Garnier goal and make it a 2-1 game. The game would stay there till the 13:53 mark of the second period when the Red Dragons would extend their lead to 3-1. The defense would hold tall, and that's where the game ended as the Red Dragons would get the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort for the Red Dragons, they would go to 4-2 in the season, and Ronan Mobley would make 21 saves on the night. The Cardinals would fall to 2-3 in the season as Jacob Hearne made 24 saves. ECAC Tournament Championship: #2 Cornell Big Red Vs #7 St. Lawerence Saints March 23rd 2024
The Cornell Big Red are crowned the 2024 ECAC Hockey champions for the first time in 14 years as they defeat the St. Lawerence Saints 3-1. It would be championship time in Lake Placid, NY, and the famed Herb Brooks Arena in front of 4,912 fans to settle the ECAC Hockey Conference champion and it would feature the #2 Cornell Big Red going after their first title since 2010. The #7 St Lawerence Saints are going after their first title since 2001 and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Big Red would get the opening answer of the game at the 6:15 mark of the first period on Jonathan Castagna's tenth goal of the season for the 1-0 Big Red lead. The game would stay there till the 5:13 mark of the second period when the Big Red and Jonathan Castagna would strike again for a 2-0 lead and that is how the second period would end. The Saints not wanting their Cinderella run to end would come out firing in the third period and cut the lead to 1 on the Cameron Buhl goal only his 4th of the season at the 4:15 mark. Coming down the streak the Saints would keep fighting for that equalizer and have the chance to tie the game. Although with the extra attacker on the ice, the Big Red would seal the game with the Jack O'Leary empty net goal to give the Big Red the 3-1 win and their first championship in 14 years. In the winning effort of the Big Red, Ian Shane would make 31 saves as the Cornell Big Red advanced to the NCAA Tournament. ECAC Tournament Semi-Finals: #2 Cornell Big Red Vs #4 Dartmouth Big Green March 22nd 2024
Cornell's Ian Shane (30) with the save on the scramble play in front of the net as he goes post to post for the save. It would be the second game from the ECAC Championships on the semi-final Friday as the #2 Cornell Big Red would take on the #4 Dartmouth Big Green at the Herb Brooks Arena in front of 4,015 fans for the right to go the championship tomorrow. The Big Green would get the lone goal of the first period from Sean Chisholm for his eighth of the season to give the Big Green the 1-0 lead at the 15:02 mark of the period. The Big Red would come out hot in the second period though and would fight back and tie the game at one on the Ondrej Psenicka goal at the 4:15 mark. The game would only be tied short time though as Dartmouth would regain the lead at 2-1 a minute later on the John Fusco goal for his 6th of the season. Then at the 12:18 mark of the period, the Big Green would expand their lead to 3-1 on the powerplay goal from John Fusco for his second of the game and taking control of the game. The game would stay there till the third period and in the third period, the Big Red would answer quick just 43 seconds in on the powerplay goal from Dalton Bancroft his 12th of the season to make it a 3-2 game. Then at the 8:32 mark of the period, the Big Red would tie the game at three on the Kyle Penney goal his ninth of the season. Just 50 seconds later the Big Red would come back and take the 4-3 lead on the Ryan Walsh goal his 12th of the season. Then in the game's closing minutes, the Big Redw would add a coupleempty net goals from Nick Desantis to secure the Big Red's 6-3 victory. In the winning effort for the Big Red, Ian Shane would make 27 saves as they went on to win the white claw title for the first time since 2010 as they will bottle the St Lawerence Saints. ECAC Tournament Semi-Finals: #1 Quinnipaic Bobcats Vs #7 St Lawerence Saints March 22nd 2024
St. Lawerence's Ben Kraws (31) with a save right to the chest off the stick of Quinnipiac's Anthony Cipollone (18) as they looked to get on the board. It is that time of year as we head back to Lake Placid, NY, and the Herb Brooks Arena for the ECAC Championship weekend for the 20th edition that would take place in Lake Placid and the first game of the semi-finals night would see the #1 Quinnipiac Bobcats and the #7 St Lawerence Saints in front of around 4,000 fans. The game would be scoreless through the first period with the teams each getting six shots on net. In the second period the Cinderella team of the tournament the Saints would get the 1-0 lead 7:43 into the period on Tomas Mazura's goal only his sixth of the season. The Saints wouldn't be done though just about four minutes later they would score again this time on the Powerplay from Max Dorrington for only second on the season and take the 2-0 lead and that's how the second period would end. In the third period the Saint's defense would be up to the challenge as they would be able to stop all that the Bobcats would throw at them and get an empty netter in the closing minute of the game from Ty Naaykens for the 3-0 win. With the win the Saint's dream playoff season will continue for one more night as they advance to the championship tomorrow night against the winner of the Cornell Big Red and the Dartmouth Big Green for the right to head to the NCAA Tournament. In the winning effort, the Saint's Ben Kraws would make 22 saves for the shutout victory as they go to 14-8-6 on the season while the Quinnipiac Bobcats will wait for there at large bid Sunday and go to 26-9-2 on the season. #4 Cortland State Red Dragons @ #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals February 21st, 2024
The Cortland State Red Dragons have crowned the 2024 SUNYAC Men's Hockey champion with the 3-2 overtime victory over the Plattsburgh State Cardinals. It would be the SUNYAC Championship from the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse with the winner getting the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,188 fans. It would be the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals hosting the #4 Cortland State Red Dragons and having seen the Cardinals win both regular season matches. The game would be tight through the first period with both teams getting their scoring chances but no one would be able to flip on the red light to get a goal and it would be scoreless after the first period. In the second period, we would get the first goal of the game, unfortunately, it would be the Cortland State Red Dragons getting the opening goal of the game at the 11:28 mark from Colby Seitz to make it a 1-0 game and that's how the second period would end. The Cardinals would waste no time tying the game up in the third period just 58 seconds in on the powerplay goal from Ryan Bonfield. The game would stay there till there was 4:38 left in the game the Red Dragons would regain the lead at 2-1 on the Nate Berke goal. Down the stretch, though the Cardinals would pull the goal to try and get the equalizer, and with 33 seconds left they would do just that on Ryan Bonfield’s second goal of the game and the game would head to overtime. In the overtime, the Red Dagons would get the game-winner as they would get the lead for the third and final time on the night on the Anthony Bernando goal and the 3-2 Dragons win. In the winning effort, Jack Riedell would make 41 saves on the night as the Cortland State Red Dragons get the conference's auto bid and head to the NCAA Tournament. As for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals, Jacob Hearne makes 31 saves and their 21-5-2 record will have to wait and see if they get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Gallery
