#2 Cornell Big Red Vs #3 Clarkson Golden Knights - ECAC Championships Finals - March 23rd 2019

The 2019 ECAC Hockey Championships Finals would come down to #2 Cornell Big Red and the #3 Clarkson Golden Knights and also would be a pair of top ten teams in the country vying for the conference automatic bid into the NCAA Championship at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid in front of 5700 fans. The Big Red would get the important first goal of the game from Noah Bauld at the 7:29 mark of the first period. Although in a matter four minutes between period the twelve and sixteen minute mark of the first period Devin Brosseau would get two powerplay goals and give the Golden Knights a 2-1 lead after the first period. The game would remain there for the longest time as both teams were very evenly matched. Although with just under six minutes left in the game the Big Red tie the game up on the Tristan Mullin goal and would be enough to send the game to overtime. In that overtime period it was starting to look like we might be heading for a second overtime until Chris Klack would knock in the rebound and give the Clarkson Golden Knights 2019 ECAC Championship for the first time sense 2007. In the winning effort Jake Keilly would make 29 saves as the Clarkson Golden Knights head to the NCAA Tournament. Gallery

#2 Cornell Big Reds Vs #8 Brown Bears - ECAC Championships Semi-Finals - March 22nd 2019

Cornell's Morgan Barron (14) with rebound goal to extend the lead. The #2 Cornell Big Red would meet up with the #8 Brown Bears in the semi-final of the ECAC Championships at the Herb Brooks Arena in front of 4800 fans. The Big Red would open the first period with three goals setting the tone early with three goals in the period including two goals on one major powerplay with goals coming from Matthew Nuttle, Noah Bauld and Tristian Mullin. In the second period the Big Red would extend there lead to 4-0 on a goal from Morgan Barron on the powerplay at the thirteen minute mark. In the third period the Big Red would score two more from Joe Leahy and Kyle Betts to secure the 6-0. In the winning effort Matthew Galajda would make 30 saves in a shutout effort as they would advance to the ECAC Championships finals and face the winner of Clarkson and Harvard. Gallery

#3 Clarkson Golden Knights Vs #4 Harvard Crimson - ECAC Championships Semi-Finals - March 22nd 2019

Harvard's Benjamin Solin (11) with the hard check along te boards on the Clarkson player to break up the play. The #3 Clarkson Golden Knights would meet up with the #4 Harvard Crimson in the semi-finals of the ECAC Championships demi-finals at the Herb Brooks Arena in front of 4800 people, The Golden Knights would open up the scoring just 2:30 into the game on the Haralds Eagle goal. Then just over three minutes later the Knights would extend there lead to 2-0 on the Anthony Callin goal. The game would stay there till the thirteen minute mark when the Golden Knights would score again this time from Nicco Strum for the 3-0 lead. The Crimson would answer right back a minute later on the Adam Fox goal to make it 3-1. Then just over a minute into the third period Harvard's Jack Rathbone would score to make it a 3-2. Although the Golden Knights were having nothing of it as they scored twice from Jack Jacome and Jordan Schneider to secure the 5-2 victory. In the winning effort Jake Keily would make 26 saves as the Golden Knights advance to the finals of the ECAC Championship against the #2 Cornell Big Red. Gallery

Adirondack Thunder Vs Reading Royals - ECHL Hockey - March 17th 2019

Adirondack's Peter McArthur (16) with the whind up for the shot from the blue line. The Adirondack would finish off a three game weekend home stand with the Reading Royals as they make a late season push for the top spot in the north division in front of 2900 fans. The lone goal of the first period would come from the Royals Kevin Goumas at 6:37 of the period for the 1-0 lead. As for the second period the Thunder would tie the game up at the seven minute mark on the Kelly Summers goals right off the face off. Then the Thunder would pull ahead 2-1 at the 11 minute mark on Hans. Gorowsky goal his first goal as a profesional. Although the Royals would answer back with 2 power plays goals in the final 90 seconds of the period from Josh McDonald and Chris McCarthy to give the Royals the 3-2 lead as we entered the final period. In the final period it would take the Thunder til four minutes left in the game before they would score and tie the game up on Hans Gorowsky second career goal and second of the night. The Thunder would take the 4-3 lead 38 seconds later on the Dylan Walchuck goal and the Thunder would get two empty net goals to secure the 6-4 victory and get the rare 6 point weekend. In the winning effort Hans Gorowsky would score twice with his first two pro goals and Cam Johnson would make 29 saves on the night in an emergency start. Gallery

Adirondack Thunder Vs Newfoundland Growlers - ECHL Hockey - March 16th 2019

Adirondack's Connor Rilley (44) with the wrister in front of the defenders for the goal as part of the hat trick. The Adirondack Thunder would host the Newfoundland Growlers on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Night. The battle would be on between the Thunder and Growlers as they fight for first in the division. The Growlers would get the opening goal of the game 1:55 in from Zach O'Brien for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 6:36 mark of the second period when Brian Ward would score to tie the game at one. The Thunder would take the 2-1 lead on the Kelly Summers goal at the thirteen minute mark. Then in the 16th minute mark the Thunder would extend there lead to 3-1 on Connor Reilly first goal of the night. In the third period the game would turn into a shootout as both teams would score three times. Although scoring for the Thunder would be Brian Ward and Connor Reilly (twice) to complete the hat trick on the night and give the Thunder a 6-4 victory. In the winning effort Connor Reilly would lead the way with three goals as the Thunder get with in nine points of the division lead headed down the stretch. Gallery

Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs Norwich Cadets - Women's SUNYAC Lacrosse - March 11th 2019

Plattsburgh State's Sammy Tanner (14)crosses in front of and gets one of her two goals. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Norwich Cadets in the programs first ever home game as the they begin the first year of competition. The game would start out very good for the home Cardinals as they would have the 8-5 lead after the first half. In the second half there lack of experience would hurt them though as they couldn't hold the lead and lose the half 6-2 and the Cadets would get the 11-10 victory. In the losing effort Frankie Porcaro and Reece Wiley would lead the way with three goals each as the Cardinals fall to 1-2 on the season.Gallery

#2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #6 Williams Ephs - NCAA Women's Hockey Division III Quarterfinals - March 9th 2019

Plattsburgh State's Mackenzie Millen (11) cuts in front of the net and flips it up for the goal. The #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 Williams Ephs in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Championshup. The Ephs would take the quick 1-0 lead nineteen seconds into the game. The game would remain there til the 3:08 mark of the second period when Cardinals Madison Walker would tie the game at one. Then just over a minute later the Cardinals would take a 2-1 lead on Holly Schmelzer goal. The Ephs would tie the game at two with a powerplay goal with four minutes left in the second period. The Cardinals would regain the lead at 3-2 just a minute later on the Mackenzie Millen goal. The game would stay there til the eight minute mark of the third period when the Ephs would score and tie the game at three. Then the Cardinals would come back and take the lead back again at 4-3 on Nicole Unsworth goak at the twelve minute mark. The Cardinals would take a 2 goal lead at 5-3 45 seconds later on Mackenzie Millen second goal of the night to secure the 5-3 victory. In the winning effort the Plattsburgh State Cardinals return to the final four for the eighth year in a row and will face Adrian which they have split with on the season. Gallery

#2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs Endicott Gulls - NCAA Women's Hockey Division III First Round - March 6th 2019

Plattsburgh State's Annie Katonka (47) on a scramble play in front of the net knocks in the game winner. The #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Endicott Gulls in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The game would start of good for the Gulls as they would score 4:37 into the first period for the 1-0 lead. The Gulls would strike again just under five minutes left to have the surprising 2-0 lead. Although the Cardinals would come out of the locker room fired up and Courtney Moriarty would score four minutes into the period to cut the deficit in half at 2-1. The game would remain there until there was 8:19 left in the game when Annie Katonka would score on a scramble play in front of the net for a 2-2. The Cardinals would fight for the remainder of the period with no success. The game would head to overtime although we would not be there very long as the Annie Katonka would send the home fans home happy 45 seconds in for the 3-2 win. In the winning effort Kssi Abbott would make 8 saves as the Cardinals advance to the Quarterfinals Saturday against #9 Williams. Gallery

#1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #3 Cortland State Red Dragons - NEWHL Tournament Finals - March 2nd 2019

Plattsburgh State's Mackenzie Millen (11) rifles the shot on net in the shoot looking for goal. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #3 Cortland State Red Dragons in the 2019 N.E.W.H.L. Championship. The Cardinals would take the early 1-0 lead four minutes into the first period from Erin McArdle. The Cardinals would extend the lead to 2-0 in the last few seconds of the first period on the Hanna Rose goal. In the second period Courtney Moriarty would get the goal at 6:34 for the 3-0 in the second period. Then three minutes later Annie Katonka would score to make it 4-0 Cardinals. Then in the final minute of the period Taylor Whitney would score for the 5-0 lead. That would end the scoring as there was nothing in the third period and the Cardinals would get the 5-0 victory to claim the 2019 NEWHL Chanpionship. In the winning effort Kassi Abbott would make 22 saves in the shootout as the Cardinals advance to the NCAA Tournament. Gallery

#1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #4 Oswego State Lakers - NEWHL Tournament Semi-Finals - February 23rd 2019

Plattsburgh State's Kaitlin Drew-Mead (27) comes in on the breakaway and roofs the puck over the goalie for the score. The top seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the 4 seeded Oswego State Lakers in the semi-finals of the NEWHL Hockey Tournament at the Field House in front of 500 people. The Cardinals would get the lone goal of the first period on the power play from Nicole Unsworth for the 1-0 lead after one. In the second period the Cardinals would get three goals in the period from Kaitlin Drew-Mead, Madison Walker and Mackenize Millen for the 4-1 lead after the second period. The Cardinals would strike again in the third period for three more goals from Courtney Moriarity, Annie Katonka, and Nicole Unsworth (second of the night) to secure the 7-1 victory. In the winning effort Kassi Abbott would make 17 saves as the Cardinals advance to the championship game of the NEWHL against either Potsdam State or Cortland State next weekend. Gallery
