It would be a matchup between the top 2 teams in Section VII Boy's Hockey as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles and the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front over 1,100 fans the bigest attendances for the chamionship in years with the winner getting a berth in the New York State Division 2 State tournament and the winner getting the #5 Malone Huskies back here on Saturday March 7th. The Beekmantown Eagles would be opening the goal of the game at the 9:11 mark of the first period from the quicker wrister off the stick of Mason Carter, with Jacobey Weeden and Jackson Deyo picking up the assist on the lone goal of the period to end the first 1-0 Eagles. The Hornets would come out buzzing in the second period and get the equalizer at the 1:41 mark of the second period when Westen Studley would light the lamp with help from Jacob Wheelin and Colby Chase. The Eagles would have an answer, though, at the 5:20 mark of the period when Edward Sweenor would beat Owen Chapple glove side to retake the 2-1 lead with thanks to Braeden Nephew and Evan Bruyette, and that's where the scoring would stop for the second period. The Eagles would extend their lead to 3-1 at the 8:36 mark of the third period when Mason Carter would get his second of the night with help from Pryce Parker and Jack Rovers to give them the big two-goal lead. The Hornets would answer back quickly, though, just 25 seconds later, when Alex Hanshaw would beat Jack Bell to make it a 3-2 game down the stretch. The defense for the Eagles would stand strong down the stretch, hold off the Hornets' swarm, and secure the 3-2 win for the championship. In a championship effort for the Eagles, Jack Bell would make 23 saves as they won the Section VII title and will meet up with the #5 Malone Huskies on March 7th for a chance at the trip to Buffalo and the final. It would be the Section VII Division II Boys' Hockey semifinals, as the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #3 Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers at the AC North Arena, with the winner advancing to Monday's championship game. It would take until the 15:28 mark of the first period for the first goal of the game, when Eli McCormick would light the lamp for the Lakers and take a 1-0 lead, and that's where the first period would end. In the second period, the Lakers would extend their lead to 2-0 at 6:50 when Ayden McCormick would get the goal. The Hornets would answer right back 38 seconds later when Sam Bezio would get the Hornets on the board and make it a 2-1 game. The Hornets would not be done there, as they would tie the game at two on Cooper Holland's goal. The Lakers would come back and retake the lead about two minutes later at the 10:32 mark of the period on Eli McCormick's second goal of the game. The Hornets would tie the game again with 4:32 left in the period when Sam Bezio would get the second goal of the game, and the second period would end tied at two. The Hornets would get their first lead of the game at the 9:05 mark of the third period when Cooper Holland would get his second of the game, and from there the Hornets' defense would be up to the challenge as they secured the 4-3 victory. In the winning effort for the Hornets, Owen Chapple would make 21 saves as they entered the finals at 13-5-2. Saranac's Elliot Batty (12) scored the goal that he slides through the pads of Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple (72) as he would make it a 3-2 game. It would be the second meeting of the season between the pair that share the Ameri-can North Arena, the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Saranac Spartans in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action. The Hornets would get the game going at the 4:31 mark of the first period on the Sam Bezio goal for the lone goal of the opening period. The game would stay there until the 5:29 mark of the second period, when Jacob Wheelin would extend their lead to 2-0, and that's where the second period would end. The Spartans would get on the board just 37 seconds into the third when Ryan Campbell would cut the deficit in half and make it a 2-1 game. Then, at the 10:52 mark of the third period, the Hornets would regain their two-goal lead at 3-1 on Colby Chase's power-play tally. The Spartans would have a quick answer just 53 seconds later when Elliot Batty would slip it by Hornets Owen Chapple and make it a one-goal game again at 3-2. Then just 90 seconds after, the Hornets would make it 2 goals again at 4-2 on the Cooper Hollad. Then, in the closing time of the game, the Hornets would add the empty netter from Alex Hanshaw to secure the 5-2 victory. The Eagles would waste little time in getting the opening goal of the game. Pryce Parker would knock a rebound past Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple for the 1-0 Eagles lead. The game would stay there all the way to the 3:13 mark of the 2nd period when Sam Bezio for the Hornets would beat Jack Bell and tie the game at one. From there, the teams would go back and forth for the next two periods, with both teams having their chance to score the go-ahead goal. Still, they couldn't get it online. The game would end in overtime, and in that overtime, Beekmantown's Pryce Parker would beat Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple with a goal on the short side as there were just five seconds on the clock. It would be the 3rd annual Amy McLane Memorial Scholarship game at the AC North Arena, and it would once again feature the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Saranac Spartans in front of a packed house. The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game at the 13:05 mark of the first period when Owen Dubay would light the lamp, and that's where the first period would end. The Spartans would answer at the 1:39 mark of the second period, when Brady McComber scored to tie the game at 1. The game would stay there till the 7:39 mark of the second period when Ben Bezio would give the Hornets the 2-1 lead. The Spartans would come back again and tie the game at 2 on the Deacon Giroux goal at the 13:26 mark. The game would not be rematched for Vong, as the Hornets regained the lead at 3-2 on Tames Bayer's goal, and that was where the period would end. Then at the 5:42 mark of the second period, the Hornets would take their first two-goal lead thanks to Ben Bezio at 4-2. The Spartans would answer back again at the 8:10 mark of the period when Gabe Moore would sink it by and make it a 4-3 game. The Hornets would answer back again and stretch their lead back to 2 at 5-3 when Sam Bezio scored. Then, in the closing time of the game, the Hornets would add the empty-netter for the 6-3 win.
