NYSPHSAA Division I Boy's Hockey Semi Finals: #3 West Genesee Wildcats Vs #7 Canton Golden Bears March 14th 2026

West Genesee's Matthew Schneid (11) with goal he sneaks by Canton's Gavin Schryver (1) for the 1-0 lead. It would be the second semi-final of the NYSPHSAA Division I Boys' Hockey Championships at LECOM Harbor Center, featuring the #3 West Genesee Wildcats from Section III and the #7 Canton Golden Bears from Section X, with the winner facing the #4 Suffern Mounties for the title tomorrow. The Wildcats would get the opening goal of the game at the 10:17 mark from Matthew Schneid for the 1-0 lead. The Golden Bears would answer back in the last minute of the period, with Caleb Briggs tying the game at one as the first period ended. The Golden Bears would come out on fire in the second period and take the lead 3:35 in on an Owen Logan goal, making it 2-1. The Wildcats would answer right back 37 seconds later on the Sammy Vormwald goal, making it 2-2. The game would stay there through the third period, with no scoring, and they would need overtime to decide the last spot in the championship. It wouldn't take long, though, as Owen Logan would score just 54 seconds in as the Golden Bears secure the 3-2 victory and their spot in the finals tomorrow. The Canton Golden Bears celebrate as they get the game-winner a minute into overtime to give them the 3-2 victory over the West Genesee. NYSPHSAA Division 2 Championship: #3 Pelham Pelicans (I) Vs, #2 Skaneateles Lakers (III) March 12th 2023

It would be championship Sunday from the LECOM Harbor Center in Buffalo, NY and New York State Boy's Hockey Division II would be first up with the #2 Skaneateles Lakers taking on the defending state champion and currently number #3 in the state Pelham Pelicans. It wouldn't take long for the upstart-minded Lakers to get on the board and take the 1-0 lead in the game when Henry Major would score just 2:05 into the game. The Lakers would keep on the accelerator and expand their lead to 2-0 at the 7:58 mark of the period on the Andrew Falkenberg power play goal. Then at the 11:11 mark of the period the Lakers would take control of the game on the Andrew Witlock goal and make it 3-0. When the teams returned for the second period the Lakers would stay and take a 4-0 lead just 33 seconds into the period on Andrew Whitlock's second goal of the game. The game would stay there till there were just about 90 seconds left in the period when the Pelicans would get on the board with the Sebastian Esposito goal and make it a 4-1 game and give the Pelicans hope in the third period. Although the defenses would stand tall for both teams in the third period as there would be no scoring the defending champions Pelicans would fall to the Skaneateles Lakers to give them their first title in four years.
