NYSPHSAA Division I Boy's Hockey Finals: #4 Suffern Mounties Vs #7 Canton Golden Bears March 15th 2026

Sufferns Kevin Windwer (4) with the top shelfer to tie the game at two in the second period. It was Championship Sunday at the LECOM Harbor Center as all roads led to Buffalo, where the #4 Suffern Mounties from Section I took on the #7 Canton Golden Bears from Section X, with both teams looking to go home with the title. The upset‑minded Golden Bears opened the scoring just 1:58 into the game on a goal from Caleb Briggs for a 1–0 lead. The Mounties answered back 90 seconds later on a goal by Matthew Norum to tie the game at one. At the 11:47 mark of the first period, the Golden Bears regained the lead, 2–1, on a goal from Owen Logan, and that’s how the first period ended. At the 14:17 mark of the second period, Kevin Windwer scored to tie the game, and the period ended knotted at two. The game remained tied until the 14:47 mark of the third period, when Sean Tyrell made his presence known by giving the Mounties a 3–2 lead. In the closing minutes, the Mounties added a pair of empty‑net goals from Sean Tyrell and Anthony Ruggiero as they secured their 4th state title in the last five years. In the winning effort for the Mounties, Tyler Grossman made 25 saves, while Canton’s Gavin Schryver stopped 30 shots on the afternoon. Gallery.

NYSPHSAA Division I Boy's Hockey Semi Finals: #3 West Genesee Wildcats Vs #7 Canton Golden Bears March 14th 2026

West Genesee's Matthew Schneid (11) with goal he sneaks by Canton's Gavin Schryver (1) for the 1-0 lead. It would be the second semi-final of the NYSPHSAA Division I Boys' Hockey Championships at LECOM Harbor Center, featuring the #3 West Genesee Wildcats from Section III and the #7 Canton Golden Bears from Section X, with the winner facing the #4 Suffern Mounties for the title tomorrow. The Wildcats would get the opening goal of the game at the 10:17 mark from Matthew Schneid for the 1-0 lead. The Golden Bears would answer back in the last minute of the period, with Caleb Briggs tying the game at one as the first period ended. The Golden Bears would come out on fire in the second period and take the lead 3:35 in on an Owen Logan goal, making it 2-1. The Wildcats would answer right back 37 seconds later on the Sammy Vormwald goal, making it 2-2. It would be the NYSPHSAA Boys' Hockey Division II North Regional final from the Ronald B Stafford Arena with 1400 fans in attendance as the #2 Malone Huskies from Section X would travel to take on the #11 Beekmantown Eagles from Section with the winner headed to the final four next weekend at the LeCeom Harbor Center in Buffalo for the championship weekend. The Eagles would get the opening goal of the game at the 13:49 mark of the first period, when Jackson Deyo would make it 1-0. Then just 59 seconds later, the Eagles would strike again, this time from Edward Sweenor, to make it a 2-0 Eagles lead at the end of the first period. The Huskies would have a quick answer in the second period, just 1:43 in on the Jonathan Scaef marker to make it a one-goal game at 2-1. The Eagles would have an answer, though, at the 12:32 mark of the period when Jackson Deyo would strike for his second goal of the game and regain the two-goal lead at 3-1, and that's how the period would end. In the third period, both teams would have their chances, but it would take until the 15:57 mark for Jake Kaska to score on the extra attacker, tying the game at 3-3 down the stretch. The Huskies would have their chances in the last minute to tie the game, but they couldn't find the back of the net to tie the game, and the Eagles would hold on for the 3-2 win. In the winning effort, Jack Bell would make 27 saves as they go to 15-6-2 on the season and head to the final four against Bryham Hill on March 14th.
