Plattsburgh's Chase Laravia (2) rifles it into the back of the net and past the Pirates goal. It would be nonconference action at AC North today as the Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the Pearl River Pirates as teams look to build as they head down the stretch of the season. The Hornets would come out buzzing as they would score five goals in the opening period with four of them coming from Braeden Calkins and Chase Laravia would add one. In the second period, the Hornets would stay hot and they would another three goals 2 of them from Braeden Calkins, and James Bayers would get one to take the 8-0 lead after the second period. When the teams back for the third period the Hornet's offense was not done yet as they would another two goals this time from Dylan Pachter and Cooper Holland to secure the 10-0 win. In the winning effort, Owen Chapple would make 31 saves on the night as the Hornets would get their first win of the season and are now 1-11 on the season as they head into their game next weekend against Tupper Lake while the Pearl River Pirates go to 5-4-1 on the season. Plattsburgh's Braeden Calkins (12) beats the goalie for one of his six goals on the afternoon in the Hornets' 10-0 win. Skaneateles Chad Lowe (30) with the pad save on the shot from Pelham's Nick Scampoli (7). It would be championship Sunday from the LECOM Harbor Center in Buffalo, NY and New York State Boy's Hockey Division II would be first up with the #2 Skaneateles Lakers taking on the defending state champion and currently number #3 in the state Pelham Pelicans. It wouldn't take long for the upstart-minded Lakers to get on the board and take the 1-0 lead in the game when Henry Major would score just 2:05 into the game. The Lakers would keep on the accelerator and expand their lead to 2-0 at the 7:58 mark of the period on the Andrew Falkenberg power play goal. Then at the 11:11 mark of the period the Lakers would take control of the game on the Andrew Witlock goal and make it 3-0. When the teams returned for the second period the Lakers would stay and take a 4-0 lead just 33 seconds into the period on Andrew Whitlock's second goal of the game. The game would stay there till there were just about 90 seconds left in the period when the Pelicans would get on the board with the Sebastian Esposito goal and make it a 4-1 game and give the Pelicans hope in the third period. Although the defenses would stand tall for both teams in the third period as there would be no scoring the defending champions Pelicans would fall to the Skaneateles Lakers to give them their first title in four years. The Skaneateles Lakers have been crowned the 2023 NYSPHSAA Division II champions with a 4-1 win over the Pelham Pelicans. Beekmantown's Josh Barriere (7) flips the wrister over the shoulder of Northeastern Clinton's Ryan Roberts for the goal. It would be a section VII clash at the Field House between the Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the Beekmantown Eagles. The Eagles would draw first blood on the goal by Josh Barriere at 4:25 of the first. The game would stay there all the way till the 7:25 mark of the second period when the Eagles would score two short-handed goals in six seconds from Josh Barriere and Ryan Waterbury to make it 3-0 lead. Then at 11:35 of the period, Josh Barriere would score to finish off the Hat Trick and make it 4-0. Then at the 12:32 mark, the Eagles would extend the lead to 5-0 on Josh McCauley's goal. Then the game would stay there till the 6:43 mark when the Cougars would answer with two goals in seconds to make it 5-2 on Alex Gonyo and Dayton Roberts's goals. Then thirty seconds later the Eagles would answer back with two goals in fourteen seconds from Ryan Waterbury to finish of the hat trick. Then at the 11:13 mark the Eagles would put the icing on cake with Nathan Trombley's first career goal in securing the 8-2 win. In the wining effort for the Eagles, they go to 5-0 while the Cougars fall to 2-3 on the season. Gallery

NYSPHSAA Boys Hockey Malone Huskies Vs Plattsburgh Hornets December 2 2014

Plattsburgh's Dean Dashnaw (30) with the chest save on the shot from Malone's Kyler Head (20) wrister. The Malone Huskies would host the Plattsburgh Hornets in nonleague action as there home opener. The game would remain scoreless until the last minute of the first period when the Huskies would make it 1-0 on Jordan Schrafs goal. The game would stay there till the 6-minute mark of the second period when Hornet's Devin Clarke would score to make it 1-1. The Huskies would regain the lead at 2-1 on Evan Keegan's goal at 12:59 of the second period. Then at 2:57 of the third period Huskies, Kyler Head would make it 3-1 with a shorthanded goal. Then at the 8:42 mark of the third, the Hornet's would do there best to get back in the game with a power-play goal by Andrew Bechard to make it 3-2. Although it wouldn't be enough and from there the Huskies would hold on for the 3-2 victory. In the winning effort, Malone's Joey Brown makes 28 saves and the Huskies go to 1-0 on the season. Malone's Brandon Pow(1) with the high glove save on Ryan Marks to keep his team in the game. The Malone Huskies would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in non-league action. The game would remain scoreless until the 7:49 mark of the second when Mason Letourneau would get the opening goal for the Cougars to make it 1-0. The Cougars would extend the lead to 2-0 on Ryan Marks's unassisted goal in the final minute of the period. In the third period, the Huskies would fight and cut the lead to 2-1 on Jordan Schraf with under five minutes left in the game. The Cougars would secure the 3-1 victory with 3:43 left on Mason Latourneau's second goal of the game. In the winning effort, Anthony Piche would make 30 stops as the Cougars go to 4-4-1 on the season as the Huskies fall to 5-9-1 on the season. Gallery
