It would be opening night for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's basketball team as they host the Plymouth State Panthers in the first round of the Cardinal Classic. It would be a very even game throughout the first quarter as the Cardinals would have the slimmest of leads at 12-11 at the end of the first. The Panthers would come back and inch ahead as they would win the quarter 19-13 and have a 30-25 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Panthers would inch further ahead as they win the quarter 12-11 and have a 42-36 lead as they head into the fourth. In the fourth quarter the Cardinals would do the best to make up the difference but it wouldn't be enough as they would tie the quarter at 17 and fall in the game 59-53. The game would be tight through the first quarter as the Cardinals would have a slim 15-14 lead. In the second quarter, the defenses would step and the Cardinals win the quarter 12-9 and have a 27-23 lead at the break. When the teams returned for the second half the Panthers would run away with it and win the third quarter 22-7 and have a 45-34 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would fight hard to stay in the game and win the quarter 20-14 although it would not be enough as the Cardinals would fall 59-54. In the second quarter, the Cardinals would extend there lead winning the quarter 25-15 and have a 45-31 lead at intermission. In the third quarter, it would be more of the same as the Cardinals win the quarter 24-10 and have a 69-41 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would coast and lose the quarter 19-17 but hang on for the 86-60 victory. In the second quarter, the teams would be deadlocked at 13 and the Sage Gators would take the 31-23 at the half, When the teams came back for the second half the Cardinals would win the third 21-16 although the Gators would still lead 47-44. In the fourth quarter, the defenses would step up and the Gators would win the quarter 10-5. The Cardinals would be in complete control from start to finish and have a 29-16 after the first half.
